The IceWings, SeaWings and MudWings are in an ongoing war with the SkyWings, RainWings and SandWings.

The war has started because Dawn and Dusk, two powerful thrice-moonborn NightWings, had disappeared overnight, and the NightWings suspected that it was either the SkyWings or the IceWings who had taken her. Both the SkyWings and their allies and the IceWings and their allies fight in the war to defend themselves, because the NightWings are not an enemy to be trifled with. Soon, the original cause of the war was forgotten, but overwhelming hatred led them to keep on fighting. When a huge new island was discovered, the two sides fought once again for control over it.
