Kobicha (or Sepia)

For @NaokiNeko

(Belongs to the same storyline as Polaris)

Alright

Name: either Kobicha (a shade of brown originating from Japan, used as dye in kimonos) or Sepia (previously Mudslide)

Both names are pretty good. I like Kobicha, it's definitely more original. Sepia sounds more feminine anyway. It's up to you though!

Gender: Male

Okay

Tribe: Sky/MudWing

OH NO

a hybrid

Rank in Tribe: young soldier/bounty hunter

That's pretty cool

Residence: SkyWing Kingdom, before escaping to Jade Mountain Haven

Sounds.. interesting.

Appearance: large and imposing, Kobicha (to make my life easier) is well muscled and powerful. He isn't as stocky as a pure MudWing, but he has the thick neck and flattish head of one. He has huge wings and a muscular tail, comparable to even a SeaWing's in strength. Based in tawny, his underbelly is a pale tangerine while his horns, spines and head plates are russet, which fades to sepia at the bases. His eyes are a rich amber and he breaths an extremely hot fire. His horns, oddly, curl down similar to a ram's. There are scars along his maw from a surgery, and his tongue is amputated after it became infected. He has a little jade carving of two dragons twined together strung on a necklace he wears constantly, a gift from his boyfriend (and later mate).

This is pretty cool. I like that he has more of a MudWing-y look to him, like I've said MudWings are so underused. The detail about his tongue is very interesting, I haven't seen a mute OC before. The horns are kind of strange, but it's an interesting detail. It's also odd that his tail is strong like a SeaWing's if he isn't part SeaWing, but I suppose MudWings have strong tails as well, since they're so thick. I also really like the coloring.

One thing I don't quite get is the extremely hot fire. I know that SkyWings have hotter fire than other Tribes, but considering the fact that MudWings can only breathe fire under certain conditions, you'd think his fire would be weaker, not stronger.

Personality: before the incident and his following muteness, Kobicha was a loud, talkative playboy and, he readily admits, a bit perverted. He always knew what lines he shouldn't cross, so he never got into too much trouble. He is likable and fun to be around, always finding a way to make you smile one way or another. He's fiercely loyal and will give his life to defend his friends. Sometimes, his loyalty overrides his sense of justice. Even if he knows what someone is doing is bad, he has a difficult time rejecting and/or saying no. After becoming muted, he also became mellowed and calmer, taking more time to reflect on actions. However, this also causes him to be indecisive and adamant when he comes to a decision, being extremely bull-headed.

This is nice! A good combination of positive and negative traits, and it's a pretty original personality. I like that he's very loyal, it definitely fits a MudWing. I can't really think of anything wrong with this, it's really good!

"Family-
Father: Taupe
Mother: Venetian
Siblings: Auburn (BigWings, brother), Burgundy (sister), Carmine (sister), Tangelo (brother) and Tuscan (brother)
Mate: Sightless (NightWing)
Dragonets: I kinda want to have them adopt a clutch (random abandoned eggs they found). If they do, they'd be: Sienna (MudWing female), Topaz (Night/SkyWing male) and Cipherlock (Night/SkyWing male).

I like him and Sightless, they're really cute. I'm not sure about adopting. Because Kobicha grew up in the Mud kingdom, it's reasonable to think that he probably was raised with MudWing culture, in which case he wouldn't really be involved with raising dragonets. However, Sightless might want dragonets, in which case I can see Kobicha making an exception.

Backstory: Kobicha was born into a normal clutch, never meeting his parents due to being raised the MudWing way. He and his siblings, like all dragonets of the time, were training for battle at age 5, learning combat skills through hours of vigorous training. They were also given basic education, but most of the time they were fighting. Kobicha handled the war extremely well, even when Tuscan and Carmine were killed in battle. His attitude notably became a bit quieter, but no one blamed him. It's hard to lose someone you love, especially in the claws of war. Once, in a battle against a group of NightWings, SandWings and hybrids, a spear was thrown towards him. He couldn't get out of the way in time, and the spear pinned his bottom jaw to a nearby cliff, shattering it and mangling his tongue. A small NightWing found him stuck to the cliffs, pitying him and doing their best to heal him. They wrapped his jaw and even tried to fix it, but eventually left a signal for Kobicha's allies to find him. "He was rushed to the Ice Kingdom (as they had more advanced medical skills) and he had to undergo a painful surgery (no painkillers or anesthetics). His tongue had become infected, and the medics agreed it would be best to amputate it to keep the infection from spreading. They fixed his jaw, but it remained relatively weak and prone to blunt-force trauma. Kobicha was mortified at his muteness, falling into mild depression. It took him a few years to figure out how to communicate with others efficiently, and he began to lose his 'worth' as a soldier. Tangelo gave him a terrified remark that he heard the Queen Council discussing the execution of 'extra mouths'. His siblings were devastated at the possibility of Kobicha being killed in such an undignified way, telling him to escape. They told him how much they loved him before sending him off, with Auburn giving him a family ring (forgot to mention in appearance). He left to Jade Mountain Haven, where he knew he'd be safer and accepted. While flying through the Rainforest Kingdom, he bumped into a rogue NightWing named Sightless, a blind dragon his age. Both were headed to the same location, and they decided to stick together to get to JMH. After pit-stopping at the Rainforest Kingdom, the two began to grow closer, especially when they discovered that Sightless had been the dragon who dislodged Kobicha from the cliffs and wrapped his jaw. Sightless had telepathic powers, and communicating between the two was easy. They eventually came to a compromise that Kobicha would be Sightless' eyes while Sightless would be his voice.

I really like what you did with him and Sightless kind of depending on each other, it's a really interesting (and cute!) relationship dynamic. He seems realistic, like, he would fit into the Wings of Fire universe quite well. This is really well written, and would make a great Fanfiction.

But, there are some things that I have some questions about. One really important thing when it comes to hybrids that you left out is how their parents met. Hybrids are really rare in the canon series, and so it's logical to think that they would be in your fanfic well. So, I'm curious how a half SkyWing egg ended up in the Mud Kingdom.

Another thing that isn't quite as important, but I'm still curious about is how he communicates with dragons besides Sightless. Like, before he and Sightless met or when he isn't around. Is sign language a thing in Wings of Fire? I'd probably say yes, since there are other things like Braille to accommodate disabilities.

Another WIP, because my story is underdeveloped. Thanks for reviewing!

He's really impressive for a WIP!

Other: his theme-song would be I'm So Lucky Lucky, by Lucky Twice.

Idk this song but the idea of a theme song is really great!

Overall
I give Kobicha/Sepia an 8/10. I really like his appearance and personality. There are some things you might think about adding to his backstory. Otherwise, he's pretty well done, and I like him!
