--Qibli POV--
We stayed there for several minutes more, even after the balloon had sunk into the oceans murky depths. Everyone stood their not saying a word. The balloon that we had all worked diligently on, was now gone. I knew we could not continue, because there was no way of knowing how far the next island might be. Or, if there even was one. I took a deep breath through my nose to calm me down, the music and thoughts in my head were still and quiet. Luna sliced through the silence with her words
"What are we going to do now? We have no food, and no idea what's on this island."
That broke everyone out of their stupor, thoughts thunderously loud, were pounding in my brain. I tried to distract myself from it by saying
"Okay, the first issue we have is danger."
I pointed to Luna and Kinkajou
"You two will explore this island, see what we have."
"Turtle, you and i will try to salvage what we can from the Balloon."
Moon spoke up.
"What will i do?"
I looked at her and smiled.
"You must stay safe, you and Swordtail will stay here and wait for either of our return trips. If you get bored, well, see if you can find us, or build us, a shelter."
Moon, and Swordtail nodded in agreement. We rushed off to where we were supposed to go. Kinkajou and Luna to the nearby forest, Turtle and I to the water. I looked over and scavenged what I could from the remains that were relatively close to surface. Turtle did the deep diving, I worked hard to keep my mind off of the more depressing matters at hand. In the end it wasn't much, in total we had found; Turtles writing tablet, some blankets, and about an eighth of the food we had originally brought.
Once we were sure we got everything that we could, we started to head back. I had not realized we had worked for so long, that the sun was already beginning to set. Oranges and yellows of all different vibrancies were showing everywhere. I had too look away a moment later and whenever I blinked, shadows of the sun danced in my vision.
When we reached the shore, we discovered that there was a soft glow up in the trees. My arms and wings burned from the exertion of swimming diving and carrying. Turtle was more accustomed to swimming so he was not struggling as much. I found out that Kink and Luna were back from there excursion, and were sitting by the fire, no doubt made by Moon. Swordtail and Moon had also managed to construct a little hut in one of the nearby trees, overlooking the sunset sparkling off of the water.
We landed and dumped the contents of what we had found onto the platform of the treehouse. Swordtail spoke saying
"Thank the moons I'm starving"
Luna chuckled from that and said
"Really? You just ate like a couple hours ago."
He grinned back at her
"Doesn't make it any less true."
Moon ran over and threw her wings around me. she let go and looked into my face, concern written everywhere,
"Thank goodness your safe, you made me sick with worry! That was way too long!"
I wrapped her up again in the folds of my wings.
"Glad to know I was missed, besides what did I tell you about worrying?"
She tightened the embrace around me and said
"I know, I know. I'm trying."
We separated and I said to everyone
"Wow! This looks really good! Great job you guys!"
Everyone cheered. I continued
"In the morning you guys can tell me what you all found"
Kinkajou ran over to Turtle and started to blow up about everything they saw and found out. Turtle listened with patience, responding when necessary. Luna was laughing so hard because Swordtail had eaten a fruit that made his teeth stick together, as he tried furiously to get rid of it. I walked over to the edge of the platform with Moon.
We sat down and just watched the sun set, Moon said with a sigh
"This view is amazing, look how the sun makes the water sparkle."
I smiled and looked down at her, then said
"I prefer this view."
Moon looked up at me quizzically, then realized what I meant. She blushed and turned away. She then snuggled into the crook between my arm and neck, and I just wanted to live that moment forever. I had Moon, and she was here with me. I pulled her in tighter, and for that time we just enjoyed each others company, not speaking.
Oh my gosh, sorry that was sooooo long. I didn't know how to fit this into separate parts.Next chapter I will try to make It shorter. I tried to put in a lot of fluff, soo I hope that works out.Thank y'all for reading this and hope you have an amazing day!
