Chapter 2
Oh no, Scorch thought in a panic.
Scorch let out a yelp in alarm and tried to regain his balance in the air. He threw out his wings which turned him right side up but by then it was too late.
Scorch crashed into the ground with his wings cocooning around him. He moaned as he unfolded his scratched up wings. With a sharp stab of pain, he realized his tail spike had jabbed into his back left leg.
Well, this couldn't get any better. Scorch pulled out his tail spike from his leg then pushed himself up to his feet. He wasn't just about to give up now. When he got to the Ring of Wings, then he could go see a doctor and have them fix him up.
He looked down at the deep cut and gingerly touched it with a claw. He could still do battle training if he got to the doctors soon. It's just a cut, he told himself, trying to ignore the fact that 80 percent of HeatWing spike cuts get infected by bacteria if not treated soon enough.
He brushed off the dust and grass on his black and bright red scales then took off into the air, wincing a little from the pain in his leg and wings.
By the time when the sun went down and the stars came out, Scorch was pretty sure if he didn't get to the Ring of Wings soon, he would doze off while he was flying. He looked up at the three moons shining bright in the sky. Right when Scorch's eyes where about to close from exhaustion, he saw a flash of green scales in the distance. It was dark, but he could see her in the moonlight.
He'd know those scales anywhere. It was Synthesis, he was sure of it. "Synthesis!" He called out to her. The green dragon in the distance stopped and turned around. Then, all of a sudden the dragon zipped towards him and called out, "Scorch!"
She flew into him and grabbed his front talons, nearly knocking him out of the air. "It's been so long! Look, now your finally taller than me!" she said smiling. Scorch laughed, "yeah, yeah, whatever." He released his talons from Synthesis's strong grip.
Scorch jumped when Synthesis gasped, finally noticing the scratches all over him and the deep cut on his leg. "What happened?" she cried. Scorch looked down at his cut. "Oh, uh, I sort of crashed on the way." Should I tell her about the weird message?
"We should get you to a doctor," Synthesis said, tugging on his arm, towards the Ring of Wings, "You can't do the battle training academy if your all banged up." Scorch nodded and continued to fly, now with Synthesis by his side.
I haven't really thought about what that message was before now, he thought. What could that message mean and how did it get in my head?Wait, it couldn't be a prophecy, right?
