Two Halves of One Golden Heart (Sunkat Wedding): Part 1
Two days.
Just two days before Sunny's big day.
Two days until her wedding with Meerkat.
It was something unthinkable. The idea of her getting married was just...
Whoah.
I'm getting married.
I'm actually getting married.
Dang, I'm old.
Sunny's ecstatic mood couldn't be brought down for anything.
The princess was hoping to go visit her fiancé at his work just for a bit. She had been stuck in Possibility for a few days since her mother had some 'very important queen stuff' to do that she never clearly told Sunny what it actually was.
Most dragons in the little town were really nice and didn't even seem to notice Sunny as she walked along the busy streets.
Up ahead, the building where Meerkat worked at was in clear view.
Hyped to see her one true love, Sunny quickened her pace. Her one little mistake, she didn't pay attention to her surroundings.
Before she even knew what was going on, Sunny was pushed into a dark alley by a weird looking SkyWing.
"Hey! What's going on?"
That was all she got to say before someone tied a vine around her snout and a bandanna on her eyes.
It was weird, because usually kidnappers weren't gentle with their victims, but Sunny's restrains weren't tied overly tight.
Almost like, they were being careful not to hurt her.
"Mission accomplished, now let's go before someone sees us," a familiar voice said.
Is that Glory?
Was she kidnapped too?
No... Deathbringer would never let that happen.
"Quick," another voice hissed. That one sounded awfully like Thorn's.
Sunny was suddenly thrown into a sack and she could feel that they placed her on someone's back.
'Sometimes, I wished I wasn't so small. It would definitely help not being kidnapped every other day', she grumpily thought as the dragon underneath her took off into the sky.
There was a strange feeling with this kidnapping.
Now that she thought about it, the SkyWing that pushed her into the alley looked a lot like Glory when she changed her scales to look like a dragon of sky.
Not to mention her voice, that had definitely been Glory back there. The second voice she heard had to be Queen Thorn.
Who else?
Unless all of a sudden another weird animus touched object showed up out of nowhere.
It was strange, how Sunny knew she wasn't in danger, yet her heart was beating fast and her senses were on high alert.
It felt like it was an eternity until whoever Sunny's kidnappers were gently dropped her on soft ground.
The golden princess wiggled out of the sack and took a deep breath as best as she could with a vine tied around her snout.
Warm talons took off her bindings and finally let Sunny see around her.
"Mother?!"
"Hello, Beetle," Thorn smiled sheepishly.
Sunny turned in a full circle and found out that the dragons that took her against her own will were no other than: her own mother, Tsunami, Glory, Peril, Fatespeaker, Moonwatcher, and Kinkajou.
They were standing in what looked like the rainforest, and there was medium-sized spring in front of them.
"W-where are we? Why am I here? Where's Meerkat? WHAT IS GOING ON?"
Tsunami was the only one to answer her hysterical questions.
"Uhh, surprise?"
Sunny frowned and sat down with her tail curled around her talons.
"What kind of surprise is this?"
"One where you should be thankful," Glory rolled her eyes.
"B-but, well, could you just please tell what your plan was in all this?"
Thorn grinned, "So I came up with the idea to have a celebration for you. Like a bachelorette party."
Sunny cocked her head to the side. "You didn't have to kidnap me for that," she reasoned.
"It's more fun this way," Tsunami laughed.
Sunny gave her a weird look before laughing along.
Kinkajou ran up to the princess and started pushing her toward the spring.
"Kinkajou," Sunny said, "what are you doing?"
The RainWing have her an exasperated look. "Can we please get started with the party? My muscles are sore from chasing Winter yesterday, and I need a massage!"
"Massage? Wha-"
"You'll find out soon," Moon grinned and dragged Kinkajou away from Sunny.
What did they just bring me into?
"It will be fun, don't worry," Fatespeaker encouraged and led Sunny to the fresh-water spring.
Sunny glanced at her friends who had already sunk themselves into the water.
"Come on Sunny, join the fun!"
Sunny smiled at her mother and jumped into the surprisingly cold water (keeping close to the edge of course) splashing everyone nearby.
"Ah! Sunny!"
The golden hybrid laughed at Glory's expression of disgust.
The RainWing Queen and Peril were the only ones standing on dry ground, but Glory was the only one who got caught by the flying water.
"I do not want to get wet today, it was enough with Deathbringer dumping me in here yesterday at night. It was freeeeeezing!"
"Gloooory! It's fun! Don't be a looser," Kinkajou teased. She herself was covered completely soaked.
The queen shook her head and gracefully sat down on the grass.
"I like it perfectly fine here, thank you very much."
"Suit yourself," Tsunami shrugged, "Peril, it's your turn!"
"Yeah, fire-scales dragon is here to save the day," Peril rolled her eyes with a small grin and let the tip of her tail in the spring.
Instantly, the pool heated up enough for it be like a luxurious spa.
Sunny sighed and closed her eyes as the heat eased her body and let her relax.
"This, is just what I needed," Kinkajou sighed.
The rest of them nodded in agreement.
"Needed to look like a wrinkled old dragon you mean," Glory snorted as she curled up underneath the beaming sun.
"Yep, sometimes you just have to be ugly for the fun of it," Kinkajou said.
They all laughed, and Sunny found herself saying, "I've been thinking, and I kinda want dragonets with Meerkat."
"What!"
Sunny giggled at her friends' reaction.
"Not now obviously, but maybe one day when we're a bit older. Dragonets are adorable, and just imagine one of my own, wouldn't it be amazing?"
"They are adorable, but I' guessing they're a lot of responsibilities," Fatespeaker said with good logic.
"That's why I rather it be when we're older and more responsible," Sunny replied with a small orange blush.
"If it were for me, I wouldn't even be married yet. Just the thought of being held down to one dragon and never being able to see others. Poor sweet freedom is tossed away just by saying 'I do'."
Sunny playfully splashed some water at Glory who just sighed in defeat.
"We all know you've been stuck with the same exact dragon ever since you were queen," Tsunami retorted with a smirk.
Glory's scales near her feet turned a light pink before she changed them to a deep blue.
"Whatever," the queen huffed and closed her eyes.
Sunny smiled and relished the friendly and comforting feeling this little gathering gave her.
"Personally, I think if you really love the dragon you're going to get married to, then you're content with staying with them for the rest of your life," Peril offered as she lazily burned a few patches of grass.
"Thanks Peril," Sunny said as she sank even deeper into the water.
Kinkajou and Moon were busy playing around instead of relaxing, and soon Fatespeaker and Tsunami joined the fun.
They spent the afternoon talking and laughing about memories from years past.
Sunny and Peril were constantly being teased for being engaged so early, but they brushed it off by saying that soon everyone else was going to get married.
Thanks to Peril, the water never got cold, and the good friends never got bored.
"Thank you, all of you. Even though you didn't have to kidnap me for this," Sunny said as they all began to climb out of the water.
"Yep, anything for a bit of fun," Kinkajou replied with a big smile.
"Uh, before we go, Sunny I need to talk to you," Thorn said as everyone got ready to leave.
"Yes, Mom?"
"Listen, you're going to be married and have your own life now, which is why we need to have 'the talk'."
Sunny's whole head burst into a blushing madness.
Her friends started to laugh awkwardly, leaving Sunny to face her very, serious mother by her own.
"Moooooom!"
Thorn grinned with a knowing look in her eyes.
"What? You were the one who said that you wanted dragonets!"
Sunny groaned and face-taloned.
"Yes, but. Oh, what am I going to do with you?"
