Sunkat Proposal
Sunny's head cocked to the side as a strange sound came from beyond.
The band was playing a new, and very different song.
And...
Is that singing? She thought, surprised.
"Tonight the sky is calling..."
Sunny entered a clearing where the giant tree had been planted.
Her friends and lots of more dragons were sitting in a half circle shape behind and around the tree.
They were singing together a really beautiful song.
"Are you ready?"
"Are you ready?"
Sunny's confusion grew as she took in the lyrics of the song.
Ready? Ready for what?
That's when she noticed a giant present right underneath the Festive Tree. It was wrapped in beautiful golden paper, and a cute little bow adorned its top.
Sunny looked around as her friends kept singing.
"To fly on your own!"
The princess walked to the present, somehow knowing that she was supposed to open it.
Sunny stood on her back legs and ripped the bow from the wrapping paper.
The walls of the present gave away, and standing before her, was Meerkat.
He smiled as he began to sing with the others.
"Tonight the sky is calling, are you ready? Are you ready? To fly on your own!"
Sunny looked up and gasped when her eyes caught sight of dragons flying high into the sky.
At least ten SkyWings and ten more IceWings were using their unique abilities to light up the sky.
On one side, the SkyWings were blasting fire in the direction of the ice dragons, but not a spark landed on any IceWing scale. The IceWings were shooting intense frost breath from their side too.
And when fire and ice collided, they made this beautiful mixture that acted like a firefly alone in the night. Shining bright above all else.
"Whoah..." Sunny manged to breathe out.
Her friends finally stopped singing, and that's when she brought her gaze back to Meerkat.
"Kit-Kat, this is just... amazing! But, why did you- gaaaaaahhh! Oh my moons, oh my moons. OH. MY. MOONS!!"
Sunny started hyperventilating as Meerkat crouched low and pulled out a bracelet from a pouch hanging from his neck.
"Princess Sunny of the SandWings, today I kneel down and ask you, from the bottom of my heart, will you marry me?"
Sunny laughed, a long, loud laugh.
She laughed so hard that her stomach hurt, and there were tears of joy running down her face.
"This, oh my grains of sand, this is too good to," she laughed harder.
Meerkat was just left there, stunned and confused as he looked up at the love of his life.
"Is there something wrong? Did I do something wrong? If this isn't the right time, or if you don't love me I-"
The princess managed to stop laughing as she held a claw to Meerkat's mouth.
"No! You'd never- it's just that," Sunny tried to explain what she meant with her actions instead.
She crouched low, just how Meerkat had done, and pulled out a ring from a pouch on her wrist.
"It's just that," she laughed again, "I was going to ask you the exact same thing."
Meerkat wanted to faint from relief.
For a moment there he thought he had made a fool of himself and that he would have been rejected.
Sunny smiled up at him. Her cheeks were burning, she was sure that her face was pure orange, but her heart felt all giddy and happy.
"So, Meerkat, do you want to marry me?"
Meerkat laughed along with her, until he eventually grabbed her talons and held them in his own.
There were tears of happiness and joy in his eyes when he said, "Yes, Sunny. Of course I'll marry you! I'd have to be dead to say no. But you haven't answered my question."
A teasing glint entered his dark eyes.
Sunny screeched and launched herself into his arms.
"OF COURSE I WILL MARRY YOU. YES! YES! YES! YES! YES!"
Meerkat hugged her tight, never wanting to let go.
She was just so darn perfect. Every scale of hers. Every time she smiled at him, he became the happiest dragon in the world. Whenever she laughed, it was as if everything he had ever wanted was in that beautiful sound.
Not being able to hold himself anymore, he kissed his princess.
Sunny wanted to just die.
This feeling of... joy. Love, happiness, it was just too much.
She had never been happier than that moment.
When she kissed Meerkat back, it was all so blissful.
They kissed each other until they ran out of breath, and they finally remembered that they had quite the audience.
Sunny sheepishly looked up and waved at her smiling friends.
"Uh... hi?"
Clay was the first one to walk up to her and congratulate her.
Well, add the word 'try' to that sentence.
"Sunny... my little sister, you... you..." he couldn't finish, and flopped to the ground, sobbing his heart out.
Glory, Tsunami, and Starflight rushed over, thinking their big-wings had fainted.
"Clay! Clay are you... oh. Never mind," Glory said and turned her attention to Sunny.
"Well, all I can say is, how IN THE MOONS DID SUNNY GET ENGAGED BEFORE ME! But congrats anyway."
Sunny giggled as a flustered Deathbringer tried to calm down the queen.
"Take it easy Glory. Maybe a lucky dragon will ask you that magical question soon. Pitty them, whoever is unfortunate enough to fall in love with you will never see the end," he replied.
Which got him a good punch to the arm.
Tsunami rolled her eyes at the lovebirds but hugged Sunny.
"I'm so proud of you Sunny. You've come a long way for sure," she told the little princess.
Sunny smiled, "Thanks Tsunami."
Riptide's head peeked in. "You guys? Everyone already left for the feaaaa- oof."
Thorn had pushed him aside in order to get to her daughter. She gathered both Meerkat and Sunny into her arms and hugged them with all her might.
"Mother.... Mother, I, ack, can't breath," Sunny choked out.
Thorn let them go instantly. She put her talons on Sunny's shoulders and said, "Beetle, I love you so much. And I'm the happiest mother right now, but you tell me. If this boy ever behaves like a camel snot, then you call me real quick. Got it?"
Sunny laughed and she nodded.
"Yes Mother, I'll make sure to let you know."
Thorn let out a laugh that was half laugh and half sob. She hugged Sunny again and didn't let go despite her protests.

This was already posted in the Holidays book for Christmas of 2018, so it makes more sense if you read it on there.
But either ways I wanted to have this on here since it's technically the proposal.
