Darksoul (Degal_Heartfang)

Name: Darksoul

While I haven't encounter a name exactly like his I feel like it's a bit ... bland, as far as most people go with their Nightwing names. But hey congrats for instantly making me curl into a ball and sob for a bit as all my Darksouls 3 memories rouse from their grave xD

Name reason:  Dark- for how dark his colours were even for a nightwing, and soul due to how tranquil and calm he is in nature.

Gender: male

Age: 42 at death

So how old is he in spirit? You didn't include that anywhere, it would be nice to know.

Tribe: NightWing

What? A pure blooded not Rainwing Nightwing hybrid? Could it be?

Era: Just after The Scorching

Sexuality: Bisexual Heteromantic

Residence: Before, the NightWing Kingdom, now wonders with Lumi.

Occupation: Former King, spirit now, like of an adviser for Lumi if you asked him.

Hey I would love myself an awkward spirit guide! And he's the first spirit guide I've heard of so that's a point in originality!

Queen They Support: Like all of my OCs so far, none. One day, I WILL have a normal OC, I promise! You could of put 'N/A' since he comes from a time where queens did not have the ultimate power over their tribe!

Family:Father - King Nightbringer (random generated name) - A huge midnight blue NightWing with larger wings then most. Has more silver scales on his wings then most, with silver teardrops next to his eyes. Has brown eyes that look like the color chestnuts.

Mother - Queen Destiny - a often called beautiful dragoness with one blind eye. Has a very small, slim frame with small wings. Has dark grey scales with small silvery ends. Seer.

Brother: Starless - a very powerful seer with horrible headaches. Has navy blue scales and has heterochromic eyes. His left is bright amber, almost gold, and his right is dark brown.Oh hey Starless! Not trapped in Queen Scorpion's Madness Tower anymore I see! xD

Friends:

Laughter - NightWing. Laughter is not very small, but not average size either. His scales are a very dark green with a few mixes of purples. He was Darksoul's and Starless' jester before he went crazy. (Breeze gave him a special bracelet to help him keep his sanity, and to make him immortal, but he was still his small self. He wakes up every five hundred years from a very deep sleep.)

So... slightly short? I love that his name is Laughter and he's a guy, it also makes sense with his role.

Evergreen - IceWing, Breeze's sister. Evergreen is a very light light green, and not one of those ugly greens either, with a very light shade for her underbelly. Though her scales are strange, citizens prefer her over her sister.

I love the fact that you made a green tinted Icewing, and dude all shades of green are pretty if you match them with the right complimentary colour!

Lumi - just have a picture (saw it, Lumi is adorable I love him) He's a quarter NightWing, and doesn't have any special abilities like them.

Mate: Breeze - IceWing, Evergreen's sister, Princess. Breeze was a very lovely snow white IceWings with a small silver ting to her. Her wings were softly curls, and so was her features. She was one of the first animi in the IceWings. Dead.

Dragonets: None, though, Breeze had an egg with Starless without him knowing.

 Dun dun dunnnnnn.

Looks: Darksoul isn't large or anything, in fact, if you didn't know him, you'd say he's about the size of a ten year old Dragonet. He has very dark grey scales, with a slightly lighter underbelly. Has reddish brown eyes. His build is slim, while his forearms are well muscled, while his thighs are smaller. His head is slightly bulky, but his snout is slightly narrowed. His horns in a soft curves rather then points, from his time running in small tunnels on hunting patrols when he was merely just a prince, filing them down some then most NightWings. Has almost black (key word almost) scales on his edges of his wings, and talons. His talons are white as quartz, his tail is slightly bulky then most. He has two silver teardrops on the corner of his eyes, marking his mind reading abilities, though he doesn't use it often. Since he joined Lumi, a scar is found down his neck, and the scales around it are slightly stained. Not much though.

Abilities: Darksoul was know for being one of the first NightWings for obtain the ability to read minds. His brother, the opposite, gaining the ability to see the future. He can breath fire, camouflage into the shadows, and such. Normal things!

Cool origin story for the Nightwing powers, I've always kind of asked myself 'hmmm I wonder what the first dragons to be able to do this were like and how did they convince Nightwing society that this was perfectly acceptable?'

Personality: Now comes the fun part. Darksoul is quiet the opposite of his name, frankly. He isn't very loud or annoying, but let's put it like this. If you were to turn Yami from Yu-Gi-Oh and Todoroki from My Hero Acadimia and turn them into a dragon, you have Darksoul. (Sorry that's the only way i can explain him-) He is very stand off is, and rather learns though observing then engaging in action like others. Due to this, most label him as a introvert, but he's instead slightly introverted. He shares info and his analysis with Lumi all the time during a fight, though he is very forgetful. He has a tendency to stare off into space, mostly cause he can get detracted easily. Main reason he writes them down, or tells Lumi. Before he died and started to help Lumi, he was known for his cooking too, which was a hobby of his for a long time.

In all honesty I haven't watched either Yu-Gi-Oh or My Hero Acadimia (yes yes I know bad Delta twenty lashes) I love characters that will blurt out buckets of info or observation but not truly be aware of it themselves, scatterbrained in the most lovable way I find! I also think it was cool that with a name like his you didn't try to make him all doom and gloom, and he is pretty unique for Nightwing personalities as far as they go (with most of them being genius, unfriendly and uwu I'll kill you if you make me angry. Darksouls seems more shy and whilst observant, a bit of a klutz. What I would personally change though is not using characters to explain someone, both because not everyone has seen the show and because that's kinda dare say copying, and when you say that I see those characters, not Darksoul. As much of a pain as it might be, write it out!

Strengths: Being sneaky, reading, can play a few instruments like a flute, fighting

Weaknesses: Never really engages into situations, not good at words surprisingly, introverted

Likes: His friends, his family, Lumi, gathering info, cooking, finding new things, reading, music.

Dislikes: Pain, fighting (even though he's good at it), bloodshed. He hates seeing brother's spirit being trapped like him. He also has a fear of rats.

I instantly question how he's good at fighting even if he hates it, that's like saying I'm good at reading but I dislike it. Why would he ever put the effort into learning and retaining the knowledge to fight if he dislikes it, and further more has been described not to engage in things? It seems very conflicting. I feel like you'd have to say something along the lines of 'he used to like fighting, and that's how he got good at it, but then one day something made him hate it', but even that sounds a bit conflicting...Also that is hilarious, big dragon scared of small rodents, it's a nice touch! I'd love to hear what exactly happened made him afraid of rats to begin with.

Backstory: (This is still when the Scorching had just taken place, and this was before NightWing got their powers, I always imagined the dragons never having a chance hatch under the moonlight, until the Scorching happens, cause you know, scavengers) Darksoul was in the first ever clutch that hatched under the moonlight in the new NightWing Kingdom. He gained the ability to read minds, much like his father. Nightbringer was the first ever NightWing to obtain the mind reading ability, right before the The Scorching took place, and before the dragons took over the land. When Nightbringer found out why, and when the Night Kingdom was built, he told everyone how. Same story with Destiny, only with the Seer ability. Darksoul was the first to hatch out of him and his brother. The night was cloudless, but he had weaker powers then his father for some reason. Darksoul was taught how to work his new powers, and attended every meeting with his parents, seeing has he was next in line for king. (Kings rule over the Queens rn) He attended meetings with nearly every tribe, MudWings, RainWings, SeaWings, SkyWings, SandWings. The only one he never met was IceWings. A month before he has going with his parents to a meeting with the IceWings on the tundra, (seeing as Penguin or Frostbite weren't alive yet), Starless hatched. Starless was immediately overwhelmed with visions, making him cry and scream, even from inside his egg. Darksoul was worried for his brother, even Destiny, who was so confused on why he was crying. Darksoul helped his mother take care of Starless, helping her with feeding him, playing, and even tucked him in at bedtime. When the time came for the meeting, Starless began to mumbling, with Destiny just saying he was going to miss his big brother. Only Nightbringer, Darksoul, and three guards attended the meeting, speaking with King Alpine and Queen Aurora, and their daughters, Evergreen and Breeze. It wasn't really love at first sight, more like... love over many MANY visits, but Darksoul had a feeling about Breeze. Alpine was a animus, one of the first few in the IceWings, and the magic was gifted to Breeze. Before the whole, only allowed one time magic and the circles, the IceWings were kind and actually very modest with the other tribes. Breeze and Darksoul became best friends over time, working hard at everything they did, and when Darksoul turned eight, Starless now being six, Darksoul tried to take the throne. Nightbringer was impressed, but beat his son, and told him to come back any time he wanted to try again, and soon, every full moon, Darksoul tried again. During the breaks, Darksoul spent time with Starless, who he was begging to tell him how to beat their dad. Starless said that he wasn't aloud to say how, but that didn't really stop Darksoul. Evergreen came over with her guards to talk about political things, Breeze with her. The three would play and hang out, talking about different things, like what the latest news was in the kingdoms. Starless even gave Breeze tips on how to avoid a few conflicts with Evergreen, "Make sure to stay away from her next full moon, I sense she's gonna be mad about her soon to be ex." and stuff. After five more years of trying to take the throne, Darksoul finally did it, he didn't kill his father, no, not by a long shot. Before the whole 'gotta kill mom' thing, once one taps out, the throne went to the winner, no fuses, and would have to wait a month before trying again. Before Nightbringer tried to take the throne again, he died of an illness. Darksoul was stricken with grief, so much, Destiny had to rule for a bit for him to get his head straightened out. Laughter was hired by Destiny to try and cheer her son up, he did good, and even got him to smile a bit when the one month anniversary rolled around. He slowly became one of Darksoul's and Starless' best friends, and would later be Darksoul's best dragon. Darksoul took over at last, trying to live up to his father's name, trying to be like him, but we all know some put a few twists and different ideas from others' original ones. He made sure that eggs hatched under moonlight, that the peace with the others still held, and sent help to a few of the NightWing villages that needed it. However, every king holds secrets. The entire time he was king, he meet with Breeze in secret, the two, slowly falling in love. However, Breeze learned she couldn't have dragonets, slightly breaking Darksoul's heart, no heirs after him, and he had to hope Starless had dragonets, seeing has both of his parents were single dragonets. Darksoul tried not to let it effect him and to not look down on Breeze to the best of his abilities. Over time he finally excepted it. Now at the age of fourty, Darksoul asked Breeze to marry him secretly, now with what Starless calls 'best time line to ask' why he had to wait, Darksoul wasn't sure. Breeze accepted, and the two got married, hidden from the kingdoms, Starless being the priest, seeing has he could actually read, and Laughter as his best dragon. That night, something happened, ending in Laughter turning crazy and trying to kill the three, but Darksoul took him down, with Starless' help and warnings. Breeze was shocked, and quickly made a rock into a bracelet, then enchanted it to calm Laughter down. Once Laughter wasn't so crazy, Starless quickly warned them about something. Before Starless could finish, King Alpine came in, and attacked Darksoul, gravely injuring him with his claws and tail. Before Alpine to actually finish him off, Breeze froze him in time for a hour, and healed Darksoul. Now using a lot of her soul, Breeze grew a bit unfriendly, even towards Darksoul, who seemed to notice everytime she used her magic. Taking off to the NightWing Kingdom, Breeze asked to speak with Starless privately. Darksoul agreed, and let them talk. The entire time Breeze dated Darksoul, she used her magic to make to where she couldn't have eggs with him, a command by her father when he learned about him, using his own magic to make her talk. It was invariable, she tried countless of times to take it off herself, but couldn't. However, that didn't mean she couldn't have eggs with Starless. She told him she was having his egg, which Starless immediately told her would lead to a horrible timeline, filled with future dangers, and that their daughter would later hatch Queen Snowstorm, and then Mist (Sky/Ice hybrid), if they went on the right path. Breeze shut him up, saying it was the best for Darksoul, and explained to him. Starless reluctantly agreed to it, seeing as Breeze was suppose to lay in five days. When King Alpine thawed out, he was ouraged, and seeked war on the NightWings. On the day before she delivered, Starless warned both Breeze and Darksoul about a huge attack Alpine had in store for them. Breeze had an idea, but it would force herself in getting killed. The next day, Darksoul went to make sure troops were ready to defend the castle and boarder, and made sure everything was alright. Breeze secretly had the egg, and quickly gave it to Starless, before the IceWings attacked. (She put a spell on it to make sure her powers didn't carry into the dragon's genes, Starless' order) Once they started, they didn't stop, Alpine and his troops cut through the NightWing army like air. Darksoul found Breeze, and before he could tell her to leave, Breeze made them swap minds, taking her powers over with her. Darksoul hurried after her into the sky, only to watch Breeze die by her father, and the NightWing killing him. However, after a huge amount of time, Darksoul woke up, a spirit, instructed to watch over a small IceWing with 25% NightWing blood, named Lumi. Now, Darksoul journey's with him, trying to find out what happened to Starless.

Okay so this is a whole lotta reading and it's why this took awhile for me to post. On the other note THANK YOU for including his whole life, not just one slightly important event as if that's all his life resolves around. For starters I love how you made this take place just moments after The Scorching, I've seen many, many people make their character four hundred some years after the Dragonets of Destiny but very few make their characters from any earlier then Queen Oasis's death. I like how to explained why there wasn't any Nightwings with powers for awhile instead of just expecting people to roll with it, I'd like to think thats probably why they later invented hatching peaks, keep them eggs up and away from the scavengers. The only thing I didn't really like but won't fuss too much about is how Breeze had an egg with Starless if he was against it, I mean how would that work...? Magic? The ending also confused me with the whole mind swapping part, the way it was explained made no sense.

Other: Lumi is one of Breeze's decedents, a spell she also put on Darksoul, was for him to wake up, and find out what she did, (Aka have an egg with his brother) and show him she was sorry. At the end of it all, Breeze only has 1/4 of her soul left. She nearly went crazy, but didn't go that deep just yet.

So this is Darksoul's nephew, cool!

—————- 8/10

Creativity/Originality: 22/25 While it was rather creative with a unique setting, unique lore and overall just creative, my beef with this is that his forbidden love with Breeze was practically a gender swapped Arctic and Foeslayer, the icewing animus royalty falls in love with someone they met due to politics and it causes war between the nightwings and the icewings. The icewing's animus parent does not agree whatsoever and uses their powers to do something about it. The nightwing later meets an unusual fate that causes them to remain and get to meet a descendant of theirs. My suggestion? Maybe don't make it an icewing, but hey that's just what I would do, you do you.

Detail and Effort: 25/25 One hundred percent hands down, there was so much here to read and it took me forever to analyze it all. Detail and effort are clearly visible and I say gold star sticker for you!

Realism and interest: 22/25 while I thought it was very interesting with the whole timeline and settings, I came to realize something, the whole story was more interesting then the character himself, Darksoul became a bit forgettable. There was also some inconsistencies and a few parts that didn't make sense.
