Caught in the act

*sings* I'm baaaaaaaaack

There was only one part of the school day that Peril ever looked forward to: dismissal. Ever since last year and its events, which she would rather not talk about, school just became a drag.

She gathered up her books at the end of 9th period. Time to go home - finally! Back to a weekend of sitting in bed and relaxing. But unfortunately, that is not what the universe had in store for her today.

She walked down the hallway, in a good mood for the first time this week-and she could tell everyone round her knew that too because today she actually hadn't pushed anyone out of the way on her way out of the building. But it didn't last because when she was only a few feet away from freedom, she felt a muscular hand grab her shoulder roughly. "Hey you! What makes you think you can-" she stopped mid-sentence staring at the tall man behind her-Vice principal Morrowseer.

Not this pompous worm again... She rolled her eyes. "what do you want?" She asked. He looked down at her scornfully. "Miss Burn, are you aware that you have been marked absent in all the yearbook club meets this year? It seems to me you don't take your 'portfolio' too seriously..." Peril began to panic. She had missed 3 whole meets ever since school started- and thought that no one would notice her not showing up. But she was wrong. "ummmm....well, you know it's kind of a stupid club anyways, am I right? I, um just didn't want to take time out of my...education?" she said nervously. Morrowseer scowled, seeing right through her.

"I don't care what you say you need!" He snapped "Lying to your teacher and skipping class will result in multiple detentions, Miss Burn! And you grades aren't too good either, you should be ashamed of yourself!" Peril looked up at him helplessly- she hated this feeling-but it had been inescapable since last year. She remembered being called into the principal's office about a month after Scarlet's 'accident' with a student driver near the end of the year. Thorn had told her that everything was going wrong-her grades dropped drastically, and she was getting in more trouble with other students. But then she also told Peril that because of Scarlet's rigorous training schedule, she had missed a lot of school work, and therefore would have to repeat 10th grade.

After that, everything had gone downhill. Her crush was in a different grade now, everyone thought she was dumb, and worst of all-Thorn told her that she could get expelled if she got into any more fights or arguments. So instead of arguing with the vice principal, she clenched her fists and thought of a new plan.

Unfortunately, Peril's plans were rarely well thought through, and almost never worked. So this time, she felt it was better to wing it. She bolted down the hallway at lightning speed- Running was something she was good at, even though she usually ran towards the problem, not away from it.

Guess I actually have to GO to yearbook club now :(
