~Flashback~
Tsunami had just flown off to fetch Clay, leaving Glory with the Nightwing. He was kinda cute, his eyes were a purple and black mix, speckled with greens. She shook off the thought. She was a "lowly" RainWing, he would never like her, after all, he was an all powerful NightWing. Shit. He was probably reading her mind right now. Glory blushed.
"Are you reading my mind?!" She hoped he hadn't , although a small part of her did. He smirked.
"No." Shaking his head.
"I'm not that type of NightWing." She sat on him, threatningly.
"You better not be," she hissed.
"Assassin." Once again he smirked that handsome smirk of his and shrugged.
"What would you do about it?" Was that, was he flirting? Glory blushed and turned away from Deathbringer.
~Present~
She was staring blankly at the healer. What had he just said?
"Say that again, I didn't catch that." Glory felt weak, very weak. The light blue rainwing spoke,
"You're with egg." A booming feeling went through her body. Green went darting into her scales. Sunny, her sister in law squealed, grabbing Glory's talons.
"Glory! You and Deathbringer are going to be parents!" She bounced up and down. She felt like she was going to faint. What would she tell Deathbringer? Glory looked down, noticing the damp yellows of happiness amongst the rippling green fear. She, of all dragons was going to be a mother. She, the useless RainWing in the dragonets of destiny was a mother? The healer- Seed, looked anxious, he must of never seen his queen like this before.
"Your majesty?" He remained his calm blue, although his voice had wavered.
"How do I tell him Sunny?" Glory spoke, regaining her power to speak.
"Oh, poor Glory. When the time is right, you blurt it out" Sunny hugged her friend. So that was how Sunny had told Jambu. Glory faced Seed.
"Is there anything I should know?" She questioned. She was scared, but she would make it, Deathbringer would help her, everyday.
"It feels healthy." He gestured to her stomach.
"I think you're 3 weeks in," he offered three claws.
"That's, seven more till you lay it, then a year until it hatches." Sunny looked at Glory.
"You have seven weeks to tell him, or I do." She warned.
~~~~~~~
She lay in bed, waiting for her husband to return from his recruit training. Should she tell him today or tomorrow? This was her last weekend before Glory would lay her egg. Their egg. She loved him, so she would tell him. Not Sunny, not Jambu. Glory. With that thought a click sounded, the click of their front door.
"Hey honey!" Deathbringer called out, entering their room.
"Hey Deathy." She sighed, yes she would tell him tonight. He put down his pouch of weapons and darts. Sliding into bed beside her. Deathbringer rubbed her back, something he did when he sensed something was wrong.
"What's up?" She sighed and rolled around to face him. Taking a deep breath, she spoke.
"Do you remember that night with the butterflies and the forest?" He nodded.
"Yeah, why?"
"Because, a while back I took a trip to the healers with Sunny." He still looked confused.
"Glory, what are you trying to say?" She took Sunny's advice and blurted it.
"I'm pregnant." He blinked. Blinked, blinked and blinked. Just like she had.
"WHAT?!" She winced maybe she was wrong.
"If you don-" he cut her off.
"We're gonna be parents!" He was amazed. He hugged her, but then pulled away, worried.
"Does that hurt the egg?" Glory shook her head. So he hugged her.
"Us. Parents." Deathbringer blew out a puff of smoke.
"Take that Nightwings!" He stuck out his middle claw to the ceiling.
"I'm gonna be a dad! And my wife is beautiful! And my life is perfect!" Her scales were golden yellow, rosy pink and calm blue. This was more than she could ever if hope for.
~~~~~
11 months and 16 days later
"Are you sure it's tonight?" Deathbringer was nervous, she could tell with one glance.
"Yes, I can feel it." Her egg was a dark purple and had spirals of royal blue. It was beautiful, just like its surroundings. Just like his surroundings.
"What gender do you think it'll be? I would be happy with either, but I kinda want a mini Glory around." He chuckled.
"I feel like it'll be a boy. My mothers intuition is telling me so." She changed her scales to dark purple and lime green.
"How about if it's a boy I name it, if it's a girl you do." Glory grinned at her husbands suggetion.
"Of course." She smiled at him.
"I love you Deathy." She looked at her perfection of a husband. Remembering the memories.
"I love you too, my sarcastic Queen" Deathbringer kissed her softly, it was sweet and long, only interrupted by a loud crack.
"It's hatching." They watched in content. More cracks appeared, until a small talon poked out, the shell giving way under his weight. Deathbringer leaned in to help his dragonet out. Pulling off peices of shell, until only a small black dragonet remained.
"Aww" they said together. Their son stumbled forward. Climbing into his fathers lap. He was thin, framed like a RainWing, black like the night sky, dotted with silver scales on the outside of his wings instead of within. His underscales and under wings were lapis blue, deep and beautiful.
"What are you going to call him?" She asked her husband.
He looked down at her.
"Soulfollower"
