Chapter 3
Chapter 3 ~ Sapphire Winglet
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Hey! Wake up!!"
Scorch jolted awake seeing Falcon shaking him. Falcon sighed and smirked "Well it's a good thing you didn't die in your sleep."
"I think I would've preferred it the other way." Said Nightshade as he walked out of the cave. Scorch growled at his remark and shoved Falcon away. Falcon rolled his eyes "Come on, the Dragonets are calling a meeting with everyone." And with that, he walked off.
Scorch watched him walk away, then placed his talon on his forehead, checking if his mask was on (which it was). He had forgotten to take it off as he slept, but he thought it would've been better, he didn't want his clawmates seeing what was under along with any other dragons.
Scorch looked off to the hallways, seeing a few dragons walking through. He stepped towards the opening and waited for it to settle down. Once the end of the passing came, leaving few to none dragons, he stepped out.
Scorch walked not too far from the crows of dragons, but far enough to not be noticed. As he walked he heard rapid footsteps behind him. He tilted his head behind only to have someone run into him. Scorch lost his balance and tripped, he fell down with his eyes closed, getting ready for impact. Scorch landed on his side and a somewhat heavy weight fell on him.
He opened his eyes, seeing a small SeaWing laying across him. He had dark blue top scales, along with light aqua scales. His underbelly, fins, and wing membranes were a pale shade of blue, his glowing stripes where a light blue, almost like the sky. His top fin was torn at one point, then it led to a scar on his back.
The SeaWing opened his blue eyes, then saw Scorch, who then glared at him. The SeaWing flinched and tried to get of Scorch. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry!!!"
"Just get of-omf!!" The SeaWing had stepped on Scorch's stomach too ruffly. The SeaWing eyes widened and jumped off, putting more pressure on Scorch's stomach.
Scorch groaned and grabbed his stomach, closing his eyes at the process. "Uh-I'm...uh...s-sorry!!" He stammered. Scorch opened his eyes and glared at him. "Just...go..." He said, the SeaWing nodded then ran off.
Scorch stood up, watching as the SeaWing ran off to the crowd of dragons. He scoffed and continued walking towards the gathering.
"ALRIGHT!! LISTEN UP!!" Tsunami roared over the chatter of dragons the stood out before her. The chatter died down and Tsunami smiled to herself. "Well you look at that, they obeyed!" She smirked over at Queen Glory, who in return, rolled her eyes.
Scorch sighed but stayed silent. The idea of having to be in a room with many dragons wasn't a big 'yippee' for him. Almost everyone split to their tribes, RainWings with RainWings, MudWings with MudWings, all of them mostly. Few stayed with other dragons, exchanging glances or even chatting to one another, but Scorch decided to stay in a back corner, away from everyone, especially the NightWings, who he scowled at.
"Alright, I expect you to already know what Winglet your in, so we'll be dividing you to your Winglets so you'll see who you'll be with and hopefully you'll get along!!" Scorch rolled his eyes, having them land on the NightWings. Do they really expect me to get along with that!! He thought bitterly.
Tsunami stepped aside having Clay step in. "Alright, first off, welcome to Jade Mountain Academy!!" Clay smiled down upon the dragons with his wings outspread. "Now, as Tsunami said-"
"You mean yell!!" Yelled out a SeaWing, who cause little laughter throughout the crowd. Clay let out a small chuckle as Tsunami glared down at him "I'd watch it if I were you!!" She growled.
Once the crowd laughter died down, Clay spoke again. "Sunny and Starflight here well be checking and listing out your Winglets, Glory here well yell out your names and tell your Winglets where to go." Clay stepped down as Glory hopped onto the ledge. She looked down at Sunny and Starflight, Starflight holding a scroll and Sunny reading off of it.
Names were called out, and Winglets too. A Winglet walked off and out of the area that Scorch was in. All that was left were seven dragons from the seven different tribes of Pyrrhia.
Scorch looked around, observing the dragons. Falcon and Nightshade are there, the SeaWing and the odd looking IceWing he saw before are there. Then there was a RainWing with pale blue and purple scales and a light brown MudWing with a golden armband wrapped around his left arm.
The RainWing was talking to what is supposably an IceWing, Falcon and Nightshade were chatting away while the MudWing and SeaWing exchanged glances at each other.
"Well then, I guess you know what this means right?" Asked Glory, the IceWing looked up at her nodding her head slightly. "We're the Sapphire Winglet?" Asked the RainWing. Glory nodded "All the other classrooms are taken currently, but for now, you all should stay here and get to know each other, we'll leave you guys to that." Glory jumped off the ledge along with the rest of the Dragonets. Once they all left, Scorch looked around again.
The Winglet exchanged glances with an awkward silence.
"Ahem." Everyone looked over the the IceWing, she flinched at the attention, but continued "Um, I guess we should introduce ourselves?" She said, although it sounded more like a question.
No one volunteered to greet themselves until the RainWing piped up. "I guess I'll go first. I'm Water Lilly, but I go by Lilly too!! As you can see I'm a RainWing!!" Lilly smiled at everyone, then looked over at the IceWing, giving her a slight nudge.
"Oh, um, the name's Icefall, and I'm a hybrid between a SkyWing and IceWing, which explains my odd features." She chuckled nervously, spreading her left wing out.
"How come I've never heard about a hybrid between the SkyWings?" asked Falcon.
"Maybe cause you don't know anything." Scorch said bluntly, Falcon gave him a sneer but looked back at Icefall. She closed her wings in and shifted her talons nervously. "Um, well, Queen Glacier kinda, band my mother and me from the Ice Kingdom during the war." She said nervously, looking aside. "She gave Sleet, my mother, a choice to either hand me over as a hatchling to give to either Burn or Scarlet or choose to be band from the Ice Kingdom during the war. I guess Queen Glacier never told Scarlet about me." Icefall let out a small chuckle "I guess it was better to have Scarlet or Burn not know I existed than to be handed over to them and fight in Scarlet's Arena or be stuffed by Burn."
Falcon chuckled and nodded "You can say that again."
Icefall and Falcon let out a small laugh, followed by either Lilly and the SeaWing. Lilly glanced over at Nightshade, then walked over to him. "Aren't you gonna introduce yourself?" She asked, Nightshade shrugged but let out a small smile at her. He looked up seeing everyone's eyes on him. "Nightshade." Was all he said. Lilly pouted at him and he shrugged "I introduced my self didn't I?" He teased, smiling down at her, causing Icefall to chuckle at them.
Lilly rolled her eyes then walked back to Icefall. Falcon and the SeaWing, whose name is Ripple, introduced themselves, all that was leaving was the MudWing and Scorch.
"So, what's your name?" Lilly said tilting her head at Scorch. She walked up to him, having a closer look. Scorch stepped away from her, growling a bit "Personal space."
Lilly realized what she was doing then stepped back "Oh, right, sorry!! It's just when I'm curious I tend to want a get a closer look on things." She said scratching the back of her head nervously.
"His name is Scorch, he's not much of a talker though." Falcon said walking up to Scorch.
Scorch growled at him, baring his teeth as they came closer. "Can we just move on!! What about that MudWing!?" Scorch pointed to the MudWing, who flinched at him.
Ripple stood beside him, he rubbed his arm nervously "Um, Heron doesn't talk."
Icefall tilted her head "Is he shy?"
Ripple shook his head "He just can't speak, he's..." He looked over to the MudWing, who nodded. "He's a mute."
