Superboy has some Serious Anger Issues

I watched as Wally, or KidFlash, and Kaldur played holo-air hockey. I sighed as Wally won yet another match. Suddenly we heard the automated female voice of the computer. "Recognized. Superboy, B-0-4." It announced as Superboy stormed into the Cave. Miss M tried talking to him, but he ignored her. Black Canary cleared her throat.

"Ready for training, everyone?" She asked as she walked into the room with Martian Manhunter by her side. M'gann went to greet her uncle. I couldn't help but notice the look of envy that flashed across Superboy's face. I understood immediately. I walked up behind him.

"Green is not a good color on you." I stated as I came to a stop next to him. He sighed, shrugged, and started to walk away.

"Stick around. Class is in session." Canary told Superboy. I held my hand up like I was in elementary school. "What, Valkyrie?" She asked, slightly annoyed. I smirked under my mask and replied,

"I just wanted to point out that this is your last chance to change your mind before you tick off an already annoyed Superboy." She looked me in the eyes.

"Class is in session." She repeated. I shrugged and went to stand beside Rob. Wally volunteered to spar with Canary. He even had the audacity to flirt with her. I rolled my eyes in disgust. He didn't even last a full second.

"Good block. But did anyone see what he did wrong?" Canary asked us. Rob and I answered at the same time.

"Ooh, ooh. He hit on teacher and got served?" We smirked at each other as Wally's face turned as red as his hair.

"Dudes!" He whisper-shouted at us. We stuck our tongues out at him. That was not a phenomenal idea. I ended up licking the inside of my mask and it did not taste good. I missed the next part of Canary's lesson because I was trying not to gag.

"Ree, are you still with us?" Canary asked.

"Yeah." I responded. The fact that I was still trying to get the taste off my tongue was evident. Rob snickered at my misfortune. All laughter died down when I kicked him in the shins to shut him up. We were so busy having a staring contest we didn't even see Black Canary flip Superboy over her shoulder. And into me. I yelped as Superboy's body slammed into mine, propelling us across the room and into the wall. I groaned as I pushed Superboy off my legs.

"Why me?" I questioned as I helped Superboy stand up. He growled and turned away. "You're welcome, Hothead." I said to his back. Canary carried on with the lesson like she hadn't just thrown a 16 year old Kryptonian into a 13 year old girl. I sighed and rejoined Robin on the outside of the sparring circle.

Suddenly Batman appeared on a large holographic screen. "Batman to the Cave. Five hours ago, a new menace attacked Green Arrow and Black Canary. The attacker was capable of studying, then duplicating the powers and abilities of its opponents. Arrow called in reinforcements, which nearly proved disastrous as our foe gained more and more power with each new combatant. In the end, it took 8 Leaguers 4 hours to defeat and dismantle the android. To make certain this threat is permanently neutralized, we're sending two trucks carrying the androids parts to two separate STAR Lab facilities in Boston and New York for immediate evaluation. Every precaution is being taken. We'll have 4 additional trucks to create confusion in case Ivo or anyone else tries to recover the remains. You will split into undercover teams to safeguard the two real trucks." He finished.

Wally pumped his fist into the air. "Yes, Road trip!" He exclaimed. Then he realized something. "Wait, if this is an undercover mission then..." He trailed off staring at me. Everyone turned to look at me.

"No. I'll have a biker helmet on and everything else." I stated. Wally's excited look dropped.

"We still don't have any idea what you look like, though. We don't even know what color your eyes are!" He exclaimed. I stopped walking and faced him. I looked him directly in the eyes.

"Do you trust me?" I asked him. He hesitated for a second before responding.

"With my life." He said. I smiled at the words. Those were the last words he had said before I threw him to Superboy on our first unofficial mission.

"Maybe after this mission, you'll know." I teased him. His smile reappeared.

"Promise?" He asked. He looked like a six year old with his pleading eyes. I sighed.

"Yes, I promise." He cheered and skipped over to the Bioship.

**Time Skip**

I was partnered up with Robin and Superboy. We got on our bikes and took off following our truck. After a while Rob got bored.

"If dislike is the opposite of like, is disaster--" I cut him off quickly.

"--The opposite of aster?! I thought of that too. Instead of things going wrong, they go right!" I said excitedly.

"Yeah! Exactly!" Rob said. He started talking really fast and eventually I noticed he had switched to Romani.

"Is that Romani?" I asked him. He blushed a bit and nodded. "That's so cool! I didn't know you spoke Romani! I speak Romani too!" I told him excitedly. His eyes widened. We started conversing in Romani. We talked about literally everything. Superboy just tuned us out. Until the monkeys showed up.

"I hate monkeys." Superboy growled at the exact same time I said, "I've always wanted a monkey butler." I slipped my staff out of my utility belt and extended it.

"You brought your utility belt?" Superboy asked. I smirked from under my tinted helmet.

"Never leave home without it." I replied. I leapt from my bike after putting it in autopilot. I landed on the top of the truck and started whacking monkeys off the vehicle. A second later I heard a thump from behind me. Which meant Superboy probably ditched his bike. Rob had taken the back. I turned around just in time to see a monkey blind Superboy. I smacked the monkey off, but a few had grabbed Superboy and thrown him off the moving truck.

I refocused on the monkeys, but there were too many of them. They had created a hole in the ceiling of the car. Before I could tell Robin, they pulled me through the opening. I felt something land on the truck, then Robin yelling for someone to get out. I tried to protect the parts, but the truck ended up tipping over. I yelled in pain as I pin-balled back and forth between the walls of the truck. I felt it screech to a stop and the monkeys took the opportunity to grab the parts and flee.

I shakily stood up and attempted to get out of the vehicle. Before I could, someone tipped the truck over again. I slammed against the wall of the vehicle and spat out a string of curses in multiple different languages. There was a shard of metal embedded in my thigh. I groaned and made my way to the gaping hole in the back of the vehicle.

Rob ran up to me as soon as he spotted me.

"You were in the truck?!" He asked incredulously. I only had the energy to nod before dropping to the asphalt. He leaned over me, worriedly looking me over until he found the shard. He carefully pulled it out and wrapped my leg in gauze that he got from God knows where. I thanked him and he helped me up.

"Aqualad to Robin and Valkyrie. We've lost our cargo. Did you--" Rob cut him off.

"It's gone. So is Superboy, and Ree's pretty banged up." Rob said over the comms.

"What happened?" Aqualad asked.

"She was inside the truck when it flipped over a few times." Rob explained.

"I was also slammed into the side of the truck again when Superboy flipped it over." I added.

"And to top it all off, she had a fragment of metal embedded in her thigh." Rob finished. I sighed as they started throwing around ideas for a plan. It was always the most mind numbing part of the job and I knew Rob would give me the abbreviated version. Besides, they never seem to hear me when I have something to say.

Rob finished up with the plan and explained it to me. We were going to follow the parts to Gotham and Aqualad was going to send Wally ahead of him and Miss M to join us. We were to find the parts and stop Ivo from reassembling them. I sighed and got onto my bike.

"Definitely a disaster." I said. Rob sighed with me.

"Heavy on the 'dis'." He finished.

**Time Skip**

We had reached Gotham City limits. We both changed into our hero attire. I heard swishing coming from behind me. I smiled as Wally came into my peripheral view.

"What, still no eye color? I'm starting to think you're blind or something." Wally teased. I smirked.

"After the mission, Wall-man, after the mission." I said.

"So, you changed too?" Rob asked Wally. Wally smirked.

"You kidding?" He shivered. "I feel naked in civvies. You still tracking the parts?" He asked.

"They were heading through Gotham, but they veered. Wait. Dude they're at my school." Rob said, bewildered.

"You go to Gotham Academy?" I asked. He blushed.

"Pretend you didn't hear that." He replied.

**Time Skip**

I ran onto the basketball court. Amazo was about to KO Superboy. I ran at the android and tackled it into the bleachers. KF grabbed Superboy and ran him over to Robin. Rob pulled out a razor-sharp disk and threw it at the machine.

Martian Manhunter

I dodged the disk as the robot turned intangible and the projectile almost hit me in the face.

Access Red Tornado

Amazo formed a tornado around itself and blew the others away. I watched in some sort of trance as Amazo mopped the floor with my teammates.

The robot had KF in a death hug when a green arrow sped out from the darkness. Amazo phased through the arrow, in the process, effectively saving Kid's life. I snapped out of my stupor and attacked Amazo. I wasn't desperate enough to use my powers yet.

"Oh, yawn. Normally, Amazo would study and mimic your abilities during battle, but what's the point? You're all such poor copies of the originals." I heard from above me.

At that moment I snapped. I was tired of being treated like a side-kick, like a B-class hero. I wasn't just a former protégé of Batman. I had other abilities from beyond this world. It was time to use them.

"This is the point." I growled. My eyes started to glow with a purplish light. Magic outlined my body in a blinding display of power. I created two intricately carved, jagged knives and got into position. "Copy this, Spandex Patrol wannabe." I said as I launched myself across the gymnasium.

Error. Error. Not compatible. Not compatible.

I smirked as I drove my knives into the stunned android's head. I tore its head off. The body tipped over as Rob ran to the mimicking robot.

"Help me disassemble him, now!" Robin said as he skidded to a stop next to Amazo. Wally walked up holding his arm.

"Dude, the guy has no head." Wally said, annoyed.

"Don't take any chances." I heard Aqualad order as he burst into the room followed by Miss Martian.

"I agree." I said, my eyes still glowing.

"Ree, what are you..." Superboy trailed off as the purple outline formed around the android's body. It started to float as I lifted my outstretched hand. I closed my fist and the body split into the arranged parts they were originally in. I settled them onto the floor. My eyes stopped glowing and I looked up to face the team.

"What. I told you I had powers." I defended. They all just stared at me.

"This is going to be hard to explain to Batman." Aqualad sighed.

"And don't forget, you still have to show us your eye color. And, come to think of it, you never showed us the full extent of your powers. " Wally reminded me. I groaned.

"If I show you the full extent of my powers it would kill me." I said. Wally just stared at me in shock. "But before it killed me it would wipe out the galaxy." I finished. Now the whole team was looking at me in disbelief. I shrugged and telekinetically picked up the parts.

"Now are we gonna go home or am I just gonna wait here while you stare at me like fish." I commented pointedly. They snapped out of it and started heading out. I sighed and walked out behind them with the parts floating behind me. I looked to my left and inhaled sharply. There, on the shelf, was a picture of a boy with raven hair and ocean blue eyes. He was holding a trophy. The caption said, "Gotham Academy Mathlete Honoree Dick Grayson"

Robin's voice echoed in my mind. "Wait. Dude, they're at my school."

I heard myself reassuring Dick the night our parents died. "Shhh, Robin. Our parents would've wanted us to stay together."

"S-so you're not g-gonna leave m-me?"

"I'm not going anywhere, little birdy."

Then I heard his voice. Out loud, it called for me. It tried to break me out of my revelation. I ignored it. I was lost in my own mind.

It was the same. It was all the same and it made sense. That's why when I teleported to the tower by accident, he called me by my real name. That's why he called me Valor.

I snapped out of my state and stared straight into his masked eyes. The boy I thought I had lost. The boy who was with me through everything. Even when it was just in my mind. He was standing right in front of me... and he had no idea who I was. I smiled under my mask. He was shaking me, asking me what was wrong. The others hovered above me.

"Long time no see. Haven't seen you since that night. It's good to see you again." I said to him in Romani. He looked at me quizzically but played along.

"What do you mean, Ree?" He asked me in the language we grew up speaking. I smiled and reached up to my mask. I heard several gasps from my teammates, but right then, I didn't care. All that mattered was me and the boy kneeling in front of me. I took off the half mask first, which left me in my domino mask. I dropped the half mask to the floor and reached up again. This time my teammates were silent. Even Wally could sense the importance of this event, so he kept his mouth shut. I peeled the domino mask away from my eyes. My head was lowered. I slowly looked up to meet his eyes.

He inhaled sharply. His eyes widened. He was trying to say my name but couldn't. It was like we were the only two people in the world. He finally found his voice.

"V-valor?" He asked, his voice shaking slightly. I couldn't speak. All those years of comments and things to confess and I couldn't say any of it. I just nodded. He surged towards me and enveloped me in his arms. I buried my face in the crook of his neck and just let my walls down. I started crying. I shook as I cried. All my pain and suffering and loneliness and sadness and anger. I let it all out. My arms wrapped around him. Everything felt right. He held me until I stopped crying. I could feel the whole team looking at us. I could hear M'gann softly crying. I knew she could sense the pain and sadness radiating off Dick and I. We stayed in each other's arms until we got sore and the wound from the metal shard in my leg started to get painful. Finally we had to move.

"I need to move." I said softly. He nodded and helped me up.

"Good, cause these guys need to leave." He said pointing his thumb over his shoulder. I giggled. I actually giggled.

"What do you mean, Rob? And you're really starting to creep me out, Ree." Wally said. I just laughed. The purest form of happiness was released from my body. I whipped around.

"Why am I starting to creep you out, Wally?" I asked. My mouth was twitching ever so slightly. He stared at me in shock. I couldn't keep my face serious. And I smiled. My hard defense cracked and they caught a glimpse of the girl I was defending. They all started smiling with me. Even Kaldur had a grin on his face.

I reached over and grabbed Dick's hand. I looked at the team. "Excuse us. We have a lot of catching up to do." I said to the team.

"Don't worry. We'll explain it to Batman." M'gann replied cheerfully. I nodded gratefully and extended my hand towards a wall. A glowing portal opened up and I pulled Rob through. We stepped out on the other side to see the sun shining brightly over the buildings and people of Gotham. I quickly ushered us into an abandoned alley and said a spell to change us into regular clothes.

"Sehtolc lausac otni su egnahc." I recited. In a poof of smoke, he was wearing a black jacket over a green hoodie, black jeans and sneakers. I was wearing jeans and a black T-shirt with a plain shirt tied around my waist and high tops. I turned to face the Boy Wonder.

"Where shall we go, oh Robin of mine?" I asked him teasingly. It took him a second to answer.

"Wherever you want to go, sunshine, wherever you want to go."

Nobody's POV

"The Amazo android is in pieces again," Aqualad informed Batman. "Safely being analyzed at the two separate STAR Labs, but Ivo escaped, and since he originated the tech, he's arguably more dangerous than the android." Aqualad stood with his team. Two members were missing and this seemed to attract Batman's attention.

"Where are Robin and Valkyrie?" He asked the team leader. Aqualad smiled, as did everyone else on the team, but they weren't deceptive smiles. They were generally happy.

"They had some catching up to do."
