So, I have to draw ArtemistheNightwing's OC Mage. I also have to include one of my OCs so I picked Capybara. She's a Rainwing. I also have to write a short story to go with it. Sorry my camera sucks. I'll try to take another pic and make it better quality sometime. Enjoy!

Capybara

Capybara flew through the jungle, swerving around the thick trunks of the trees. The sun was setting, lighting the sky alight with hues of red, orange, and salmon. She settled in a hammock on the outskirts of the village, nestling deep into the vines. She heaved a deep, contented sigh, and minutes or hours later, her breaths were even and small snores sounded.

In the pockets of shadow in the night, a dragon moved. He shifted, cracking a stick as he stepped on it. At once, the Rainwing was awake, alert, and scanning the area. He shifted his tail and at once, Capybara's piercing eyes met his. She growled slightly. "I know you're there. Come out. Now," she commanded. He stepped into a beam of the rising moon. She drew in a sharp breath. "Who are you?" Her voice was guarded and cold. "I don't appreciate being spyed on."

"I am Mage, of the Magicwings," the dragon said with a small, cheeky bow. His voice was smooth like honey. Capybara warned herself not to fall for his charm. Against her rational mind, her heart won the battle. She let a giggle slip out. They chatted for a few hours, into the night when the stars were around them. Mage gave another teasing bow and slipped back into the darkness. Capybara watched him until she couldn't see his purple scales anymore. She let out a breath and explosions of purple and pink rocketed around her scales. She relaxed and reclined into the vine hammock. Her eyes closed and her last thought was Mage.

Mage

Mage visited her over the next few weeks. He had almost worked up enough confidence to tell her his secret. But, his egg was important. Can I trust her? He wondered. Will she betray me? What will she do? This train of thought wore his brain into circles until Mage was dizzy. Then, I'll tell her. He made up his mind.

Later that night, as pale stars were just beginning to appear in the sky, he approached the solitary Rainwing. "Capybara?" He whispered softly.

She was awake at once. "Mage?"

"Yeah, it's me." Came his reply. "Can we talk?"

"Sure." She untangled herself from the hammock and landed daintily beside him. "Let's go somewhere more... private." She cast a meaningful glance at the nearest hammocks, but Mage didn't pay attention. She noticed he held something gingerly, as if it might break. It was glowing faintly. The took off and flew into the growing darkness.

After a few minutes of flying, they reached a clearing. The stars were visible and a waterfall trickled down a water-carved groove into a crystal clear pool. The two dragons laid on their backs and stared at the stars until Mage awkwardly broke the silence.

"Umm...," He started. "I kind of have an...," He pulled out the object he had been fiddling with and showed it to her, "an egg." Capybara stared.

"You have a mate?" She said at last. The jealousy and hurt was in her voice, clear as day.

"No. I'm sorry, Capybara." This was unavoidable. He had to. He needs to. "I wanted someone to know. But once you know...," he trailed off.

"Yes?" She probed.

"This is my egg. I made it. I am an animus. But," he measured how he could tell her. Would she understand? "He kind of killed another dragon. He needed animus power of his own. So, he just sucked out this Seawing animus's magic. Cancer died. Janus lives." Her expression changed a million times in five seconds. Curious, scared, nervous, curious, revolted, and pitying. Then, the one he couldn't bear to see: anger.

"How could you do this? How could you condemn this innocent dragon to murder before he was even out of his shell? You evil monster! You- you- you pitiful excuse for a dragon!" She raged. He ducked his head. Her words bit into him like a knife. Capybara turned to leave, her back shunning the dragon she once trusted. While her back was turned, Mage pounced. He pinned her to the ground and dragged his claws down her exposed underbelly. She screamed and writhed in pain. As the blood pooled beneath his talons, Mage walked away and dunked his talons in the pool, staining the water red. Capybara groaned, then went limp. Next to the unmoving body, a faintly glowing egg was curled into her side.

Capybara

Her body was in agonizing pain. When she moved, it felt like she was on fire. She crawled into the pool and let the water soak into her wounds. The water around her swirled with tendrils of blood. Then she noticed the egg. It was purple, with swirling patterns of gold and orange. The egg had tremors all along its surface. It gave a tremendous shudder and the egg splintered into a thousand glittering pieces. Janus, a little tiny unsteady dragonet wobbled around on the leafy floor, until the Rainwing wrapped him up in her red wings. She carried him to her hammock and cried herself to sleep, the claw marks on her stomach oozing blood.  Her last thought before she fell asleep was revenge.
