Chapter 13 - the winchesters

[Cas]

Dean Winchester? Dear god, that explained a lot. Pretty much everyone had heard of the Winchesters at some point. He knew Sam had a brother, it just didn't strike Cas that it was Dean. There were a few of those around.
Now that he thought about it, it actually made a lot of sense. It also explained why neither he or Anna had seen him much around.

Dean was way too "cool" to be around people like them, he was a popular guy, friends with all the football team, all the pretty girls, and he had a girlfriend. Cas remembered that too, well that was if they were still together. Dean and Lisa Braeden were the schools it-couple. Cas just didn't care enough about all the popular people to ever learn what he looked like.

Neither had Anna it seemed. "I need 5 minutes." Cas told Anna quickly, as Dean had taken a seat at a table, and Cas' head was swirling with thoughts, thoughts about Friday night, midnight when he had stood at the Winchester's doorstep and been milimeters from kissing Dean Winchester.

He didn't even give Anna time to respond, he pulled off his apron, and exited through the backdoor, pulling a hand through his hair. His heart was pumping loudly in his chest as every memory came back to him. "Oh god." Cas whispered to himself, running a hand over his face, standing outside the door trying to remember how to breathe.

All his life Cas had been the last person involved in anything, people barely even noticed and now this had happened. At least Dean didn't seem to remember. Or did he? Cas groaned in frustration. How the hell was he supposed to deal with this? How the hell was he supposed to deal with that skip his heart had made as his eyes met with Dean's again.

Also, wasn't Dean supposed to be one of those extremely straight guys who got all the girls, and acted so manly it got ridiculous sometimes. Cas knew that sometimes straight people also kissed people of the same gender when they were drunk, but not like that, not with the whole 'you look like an angel' thing.

Trying to steady his breath Cas ran his hands over his face, having no idea how he was supposed to react. He had already been stressed out about the situation all weekend, but the fact that this was Dean Winchester, and that he didn't even seem to remember it, was stressing him out a lot more.

How much did Dean remember? Did he remember their conversation? Or stumbling through the party, arms around each other's shoulders to keep Dean steady. Laughing and smiling as they made their way across campus, touching, so much touching. And then standing there, in front of Dean's door. Staring at each other for so long. It was almost too much to handle for Cas.

Especially because this guy was a player, even if he had a girlfriend now, Cas had heard of his ways, everyone had. He wouldn't want anyone he knew, especially not Anna involved with someone like that. Usually he would have been disgusted, he would have stayed away as far as he could, he knew he should have from the beginning. Yet, the circumstances didn't exactly back that up. He had been the one not able to stay away.

Cas was against everything with Dean, especially if he was in fact not straight, how much pain and destruction was in Dean if he could keep closeted for so long, keep dating and flirting around with girls. Of course, he could be interested in both, but honestly, that made it even more complicated.

What was most complicated was Cas' heart bursting with affection, beating loudly at every glance, every touch of Dean's, despite barely knowing him. Whatever they had shared after that party, it had made Cas feel things he had no intention of ever having to feel.

Yet there Dean was, looking like a fucking god, with his impossibly green eyes and his ridiculous features, and his hair, oh god his hair was the worst part. Just long enough to fall in just the right way, something Cas wished he could hit himself for thinking. Not because Dean was a guy. Cas had always liked guys, and everyone he knew, was aware of that.

They were not, however, aware that he had just gotten feelings for Dean fucking Winchester. Typical Cas, developing feelings literally from just one conversation, just from some shared looks. Goddamnit was it frustrating.

Taking a deep breath, Cas knew he had to get back to work, leave every feeling behind for just a while, and hope that Dean had already left, or was leaving in a short while, so he didn't get distracted, or reminded.

Running a hand through his hair with a sigh Cas turned around and walked back inside the coffee shop. Anna looked relieved to see him, and came up to him at once. "Are you okay? What's up?" She asked worried and then frowned even deeper. "It's not happening again is it?" She then whispered looking even more worried. Cas shook his head.

"No, no I'm fine, just needed some air. Don't worry Anna." He tried to reasure her, but knew already that she wouldn't be satisfied with his answer, which was what worried him. It wouldn't take long before she got to him, and to know what had happened at the party. What had happened with Dean.

"That wasn't nothing, we'll talk about this later." Anna said and went back to work. Cas sighed, and did so as well, seeing, to his luck that Dean Winchester had left the coffee shop. He hoped both that he would return, and that he would return again right away.
