Experiment 6 1/2

"Today... WE'RE GOING ON A FIELD TRIP!!" All Might shouts, producing a card with the words "Field Trip" written on it. I smile warmly, still unable to match this huge muscle man to the emaciated skeleton his real form looks like. I just kept reading my book while other people around me fired off questions. It had been a few days since the USJ incident and we were all back on track again.

"Where to, sir?!" Iida calls, his arm sticking straight into the air like a pole. All Might produces a little booklet and flips through it, muttering under his breath until he finds the right page.

"AHA! Here it is! Today, we're going to... the shopping mall!"

I sigh, packing my book away.

"Wait, didn't five people go missing there recently?" Uraraka asks. I snap to attention, staring at her. I hadn't been watching the news lately with training and all, so I hadn't heard of this yet.

"They did! And that's why we're going! We have to make the area safe and assure the citizens that they are protected!" All Might says, placing the book in his pocket. I stand up and shoulder my bag before everyone else.

"Seems like young Erin is excited-" All Might begins, then stops himself when he sees my face. He laughs nervously, realising he just made a mistake. I hated being the centre of attention and now everyone was looking at me.

"A-Anyway! Let's go!" All Might says, fleeing the room. I sigh, walking over to Izuku and waiting next to him so that we can walk down together. Kirishima loiters outside the door and only starts walking once we're in front of him.

When we reach the gate, I find out that there's no bus. We had to walk the entire way, which made my legs hurt. I hung at the back of the group, feeling my edgy side kicking in. Suddenly, a hand clamps over my mouth and pulls me away from the group. I try to kick and scream, but something - probably a needle - is jabbed into my neck and I fall unconscious.

When I wake up, I can immediately tell something is wrong. First is the piece of cloth over my eyes. Next is the tight, thick rope binding my wrists. And last are the unfamiliar voices around me.

"This is the last time I'm doing this! That red-head kid almost killed me!" a man was saying. I heard pain in his voice and drops of liquid hitting the floor, probably blood.

"Ah, what a shame. Well, we'll get it right this time, so you're not needed any more."

The next sound I hear is the hiss of a blade being unsheathed and the wet gurgle of the first man as his windpipe is slit. My blood runs cold and I start shivering despite the humid air.

"Oh. You're awake. I'm sure you heard all of that, so we'll just get right to the point. Don't move, don't scream, and don't try to fight back."

A sudden, painful sucking feeling pulls at my insides, making me cough up blood. Something else came out, too, and I felt such an intense loss that I thought I might burst out crying.

"Good. You had a nice Quirk here, but now it's time to say goodbye to it."

I start twitching so violently that the person near me draws in a sharp breath. It was just a reaction to stress of mine, but he didn't know that. He said he would get it right this time, but twitching had never come up. Maybe I was a special case? While he was distracted by my reaction, I kick out and get him directly in the knee. He grunts in surprise and falls forwards, towards me. I swing my legs up towards him so my knees connect with his face, making his head snap back.

A weapon clatters to the floor, probably the one he used to kill the other man. I scramble towards the sound, feeling around blindly until my fingers close around the blade. I yelp, feeling blood trickle down my palm from the new cut, but ignore the sting and grab the handle this time. I was trembling so badly I thought I would lose the knife but I keep a strong grip on it, sawing away at the ropes around my wrists.

When they finally break, I reach up and rip off the blindfold. The searing light that spears into my eyes makes me flinch, but closing them now would mean death. The man was up again and running towards me, shouting in fury. I dodge his first blow and run the blade along his arm, gouging a massive ravine of exposed flesh and bone in his arm. He yells in pain, clutching the wound, trying to staunch the bleeding, and I take the opportunity to flee.

On my way to the first door I see, I notice a small, golden, glowing orb on the floor - where I used to be when I was tied. The man's words come back to me.

That's had a nice Quirk, but now it's time to say goodbye to it.

I bend over to snatch the orb from the ground, hardly able to believe I was Quirkless now, but the man leaps forwards and snatches it away with his good arm. The arm I cut was disgusting, now filled with blood, the man's movements making the red liquid splash around the room and stain everything it touches.

"Stop trying to run or I'll destroy your Quirk right now!!" he shouts, his hand tightening around the orb. I felt a physical pain in my chest as he did that and the shock of it made me drop the knife. The man darts forwards and grabs it before I can, pressing the blade to my forehead.

"Try anything and I'll kill you," he growls. I notice he was using his injured arm to hold the knife and questioned my chances. The man shoves me against a wall and holds me there, rummaging around in his pocket. While he wasn't looking at me, I whip my hand up and dig my fingers into his wound, causing him to yell again and drop my Quirk. I dive for it, finally feeling my hands close around the tiny bead of light. As I hold it, it starts disintegrating. Ribbons of light flow from my hands to my chest, right above my heart.

Just as I feel my Quirk returning, about to finally enter my body again, the man leaps up and pushes me away, absorbing my Quirk himself.

"NO!!" I shout, unable to do anything as the last bands of light enter him. He grins at my face, producing another orb, this one dark blue. He throws forcefully at my chest and I stagger from the force of it, feeling something I didn't want enter my body. It was another Quirk, someone else's. Not mine. Not mine.

I repeat the words in my head. Not mine. Mine is gone. Why is mine gone? What happened to it? Can I get it back? Not mine.

"Finally. See, this could have been so much easier if you had just-"

I dart forwards, my hands sparking with blue electricity. The man staggers in surprise and I press my palms to his chest, unloading every ounce of power I have into him. I feel the electricity flowing through him, frying every organ it can reach, and he finally slumps, dead, to the floor.

I stare at his body coldly, not feeling a single ounce of remorse.

"You took my Quirk. You clipped my wings."
