Chapter 11

Warning: Feels

Brandon breathed in shakily as he sat down on his bed, trying to calm himself down after that argument. He was just frustrated and well the argument had brought back memories that he would rather forget.

Had been trying to forget...

For years...

Only now the memories were back in full swing due to what he had almost said. Memories of his baby... or at least what would have been his baby. He could still remember when he and Ritchie had gotten the news that they were going to have a baby.

He had been feeling off for weeks to the point where Ritchie was insistent upon getting him checked out. It took a bit to find someone who wasn't biased against creatures but they had eventually found a witch named Pat who was willing to check him out a few towns over.

The witch had spent maybe a couple of hours using different spells to diagnose what was wrong with him. Finally, when Pat had exhausted almost all his spell repertoire, he got a weird look on his face and he used one last spell on Brandon. And that was the one which finally yielded what was "wrong" with him.

When Pat got a giant smile on his face, Ritchie was the first one to question him. "Why are you smiling like that? My boyfriend is sick here!"

Pat had offered both of them a comforting smile before he told them. "He's not sick-"

"Then why have I been feeling off for weeks now? Heck, I've been throwing up every morning." Brandon cut him off with a glare.

"That would be the morning sickness." Pat just told him with a smile, confusing both him and Ritchie.

"What?" Brandon was the first to ask.

"Brandon, you're not sick, you're pregnant." They both stared at him in shock for a moment and he repeated what he had just said.

After the repetition, Ritchie's previous shocked expression turned into one of pure and utter joy as he turned to Brandon and kissed him. When he pulled away, the druid could only hug the fallen as he celebrated. "We're gonna be parents!"

Brandon could only kiss him again as they celebrated what would have been their first child...

Brandon couldn't stop the sob that escaped his throat as the memory ran through his mind. Why did he have to lose them? He could handle losing his parents and Maya, he could almost handle losing Ritchie, but losing his baby had broken him long ago.

His fists clenched as the tears rolled down his cheek. He may have lost them but he refused to lose his brother too. Lukas was the only one he had left. He wasn't going to lose him for something the blonde wanted to surprise him with. He refused to.
