Chapter 1
Brandon sighed as he sat on his bed, absentmindedly stirring his toffee. For some reason, he couldn't get his mind off of... him. It had been three years since he had seen him, why did he suddenly pop up in his mind now? He sighed once more as he sipped his toffee, trying to shake off the feeling.
"That's the seventh time I've seen you sighing today, what's wrong?" He looked up startled, not having noticed Lukas come in, though he looked down just as fast. He didn't want to tell the other fallen but then Lukas came and sat on the bed next to him as he asked again. "Brandon? What's wrong?"
The monochrome fallen sighed once more before saying. "I'm just thinking about someone..."
"Who? Is it about the devil's offer or something?" Lukas asked in concern and he snorted. "No, no, its nothing in relation to the devil... just an old friend who I haven't seen in a long time."
"Do I know about this old friend?" Lukas asked curiously.
"No, I never mentioned him and I haven't seen him in three years so you wouldn't know him." Brandon sighed again as he thought about him, his baby blue eyes, his smile, ugh it wouldn't get out of his head.
"Well, why don't you go see him? If it's been three years and he's on your mind this much, he must be special to you?" Lukas suggested tentatively.
"Can't."
Lukas gained a look of pity on his face then and Brandon instantly got what he was thinking so he corrected him. "He lives in... well I would say a separate dimension from ours. Not heaven, or hell, but a place called the Inbetweenlands. It's a hard place to get to and I only met him when he got trapped in our dimension for a few months back then."
"Oh..." Lukas seemed to understand now before he asked. "Why did he come to mind now then?"
"I mean it's not the first time I've thought about him since he left for his dimension, it's just... I don't know, I can't force him from my head today." Brandon sighed once more, unable to think of a reason why he couldn't stop thinking about him.
"Maybe talking about it would help? What was he like anyway?" Lukas asked curiously.
Brandon was silent for a moment as he thought before he said. "I suppose it wouldn't hurt to tell you about him..."
Lukas sat forward in interest as Brandon took a deep breath and started to talk about the other. "Well, his name is Ritchie, a druid from the..." And so he talked about the druid who wouldn't get out of his thoughts no matter how he tried. Lukas for his part just sat and listened to him as he spoke.
He found that he felt better speaking about him but he also had to wonder. Would he ever see the Druid again? Would Ritchie remember him? Remember how they met? Remember what they had lost?
