2. A Beautiful Afternoon
"Did you get it done?" Aura asked her lover, holding his hand. Her face was beamed up with all the glow she picked up ever since she was reappointed to the Scouts. She looked up at him through her eyelashes, unable and unwilling to stop blushing.
"I may have," he answered, as they walked the Orvud streets, hand in hand. If he was to be completely honest, he had not stopped blushing either. Ever since he saw her. "I just couldn't stand being away from you anymore, I guess," he shrugged and put his arm around her. "This is good," she sounded peaceful as they walked into a bar, similar to the ones they visited often when they were younger.
As Aura was about to sit at the bar, Erwin pulled her away. "Let's take a cabin today," he said, in a voice that was calm and arousing at the same time. She only smiled, twirling a loose lock shyly.
"Commander!" the bar manager greeted him as he crossed to an assumably pre-booked cabin. "Send in a single malt, will you?" Erwin nodded at him. "Sure, Sir."
"What's so special today, Commander Cinnamon Roll?" Aura flopped herself on the cabin bed, "why do we have a cabin? I thought the bar was cooler."
He cocked his head on one side, looking at her. "I've missed you so much, baby," he said, walking up to her and took her face in his hand. He looked deep into her eyes, as if his whole existence held meaning only at such moments. And, in the blink of an eye, he captured her soft lips with his slightly chapped ones. Aura wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed him back with all her might. As he held her by the small of her neck, she moaned softly into his mouth. Her fingers ran through his previously neatly parted hair.
A knock on the door forced them to part for a few minutes. A young boy came in with a bottle of whiskey, two glasses and an ice tub and left them on the bedstand. "Are you sure you don't want bourbon?" Aura asked Erwin, "I don't mind bourbon."
"I don't mind whiskey," he replied with a chaste smile on his face as he struggled with the cork of the bottle. "I don't mind anything when I'm with you. Hmm.. looks like you have to make all the drinks." His smile slowly disappeared as he realized he couldn't do something as simple as opening a bottle with one hand.
"Come here," Aura implored, tapping the bed in front of her. He brought her the bottle and she put it away. "You come here," she implored again, opening up her arms. As he sunk in, she held his huge face in between her small hands and kissed his forehead. He looked into her eyes again and said, "I wish I had both my arms to hold you with."
"You know you don't have to be like that," she told him as he kissed her forehead.
"Like what?" he asked, kissing the tops of her eyes.
"This self-abhorrent! You don't have to hate yourself after you've given up so much for the sake of everyone else. You are the..."
Her speech was interrupted by Erwin's incessant kissing. However, as the adamant self that she was, she continued speaking into his mouth, "mmm... aaa.. thh... grrr.. mmm.. commmm.." As she continued, he broke out laughing, "what? What did you say?"
As she stared at him blankly, he continued laughing. He hadn't felt like this in months. He hadn't laughed like this for as long as he could remember. He spread himself out on the bed and clutched at his stomach with his left hand. She poured whiskey in the two glasses and handed one to him.
"So what were you saying?" Erwin asked, trying too hard to sound cocky.
"I was just telling you how amazing you are. And, how I'm not saying this only because I'm head over heels in love with you," Aura replied.
To this, he raised one of his magnificent eyebrows and questioned, "you are?"
"What? Head over heels in love with you? Brave of you to assume I have enough patience to be fooling around with you for the last 10 years."
"So you're saying.."
Aura took her vengeance and as he was about to finish that sentence, she took his lips in hers and kissed him. But, unlike her, he completely forgot about what he was about to say and reciprocated her action. He let her dominate over him, as she took his face in her hands and kept kissing his mouth. Deeply and passionately.
Erwin held her tightly with his arm as she slowly unbuttoned his shirt, without taking her lips off his. But, just as she was about to slip it off his shoulders, he stopped her. He stopped kissing her completely and took her wrist in a tight grip. With her other hand on his shoulder, she could feel the palpable tension in his muscles under her touch.
"Baby!" she whispered to him, rubbing his neck, "my dear, it's okay! It's absolutely okay!"
"My arm, Aura! It's disgusting."
She hushed him and spoke to him calmly, "I know you're scared. I know. I feel what you feel, remember? I know how scared and embarrassed you are. But, I refuse to see your wound as something disgusting. It's heroic. It was sacrificial. It's something every Scout has to live up to now. That kind of sacrifice is inspiring." She kissed his forehead and traced her fingers along his jawline. "I'm so proud of you. I've been scared too, you know. Every moment I'm away from you, I'm scared to death. But, I guess that's part of being in love with a man like you. And, I'm not backing off from doing that. I love you. In whichever way you come."
She kissed his mouth again, rubbing his back to release all his tension. His body was like a miracle of God. Without taking his shirt off, she continued whispering and kissing down his body. The muscles on his stomach were chiseled and irresistible to her touch and her hands knew no restraints.
"Oh baby!" Erwin moaned out as she unbuttoned his pants and pulled them down, revealing his manhood. She knelt to his existence, as if in prayer, only to realize how much she had missed him. "Aura!" He threw his head back, calling her name out as she put her mouth around him. He drew a sharp breath, moaning for her as her tongue kept snaking down his entire length.
His arousal knew no boundaries. With his one good hand, he helped her out of her clothes. He unchained her dress and unhooked her bra while her mouth kept working her magic on him.
"Come here," he insisted, lifting her off her position, "let me see you."
She gave him one last stroke of her wrist before getting up from the floor. She climbed atop him, her legs held apart across his waist. Their mouths joined without even thinking for a second. Erwin cupped her breast in his hand and, as he kissed and nibbled down her neck, it was her turn to throw her head back and moan for him. "You know what that does to me, Commander" she whispered, louder than she expected.
"Exactly why I'm doing it," he smirked at her before burying his head between her breasts.
As they came together, like they always did, she laid on his chest, spent. They had whispered soft "I love you"s to each other the whole time and they still didn't know how to stop.
As the sun set, they lay in each other's arms, spent and unwilling to deprive themselves of each other. "I haven't been this happy in the last ten months, my love," Erwin whispered softly in Aura's ears, "thank you. For everything."
She made a soft "hmmm" sound at he back of her throat and sneaked up closer to his body. She had missed his warmth. She couldn't deny how much she'd have loved being cocooned by both his arms. But, just being in his vicinity made her way happier than she was for the better part of that year.
"I wish I was doing better," he suddenly opened up to her, "for one more time, at least. One time. I need to be there when we discover Greisha's secrets. I need to be there."
Aura lifted her head up and looked right into his eyes. "You will be there."
"I don't know that, do I?"
"What? Why? What are you saying? Is the dressing on your arm bothering you? Do you want me to change it? What's wrong, honey?"
"No, it's okay. It's fine for now. It's not about the dressing. You see, I'm not strong enough anymore to go to the battlefield and fight Titans. I'm incompetent, and I'm pretty sure Levi is going to bring that up some time and ask me to stand back. I'm.. I'm just not worthy of my title anymore."
"Erwin, honey, listen to me," Aura took his face in between her palms, "you're a lot more than a soldier. You, and all your comrades. Every life matters. Only, yours matters a little more because of what's in here." She touched his head and continued, "you're more than just a fighting body, baby. The Scouts would be lost without you. We'd have all been devoured alive if it wasn't for your leadership and brilliance. I'd have died without getting to see you again."
"Some other Commander in my place would have done the same thing," Erwin said, getting up from the bed. "No, they wouldn't have," Aura was exasperated with his pessimism. This was very unlike Erwin.
"There were 12 people before you. And none of them achieved half as much as you did."
"And, why did I do that? Do I really care about humanity? Or do I only care about my one unfulfilled dream? Of proving my deceased father right? I've led so many of my soldiers to their deaths, while I keep coming back. For you. For my dream. Aura, I'm selfish. I'm the monster they think I am."
"You doubting yourself right now, as we speak, contradicts your theory. If you were really a monster, you wouldn't have cared."
"You don't understand," Erwin heaved a huge sigh, putting on the shirt Aura took off earlier to examine his arm.
"I don't understand? Please, Erwin, help me understand."
He looked back at her, drew in a sharp breath and looked away again, before saying, "you are a doctor. You save lives. You've saved the lives of half-dead, severely injured soldiers I brought back from the field. You saved my life so many times. Levi's. Hange's. Petra's. Mike's and Nanaba's. Three of those people are dead. Because of me."
"They were not on your squad."
"I gave them the orders. They're dead because I sent them into the battlefield, against creatures that would have only devoured them alive. They did die because of me."
"Someone had to. Didn't you almost die, while you sent your squad to save Eren?"
"Aura, you don't understand. To their families, I'm responsible for their deaths."
"So you're saying I don't know how it is to be responsible for someone's death?"
Erwin looked up at her again, her eyes watering up from a certain distant memory she didn't like to visit. "No! No! Not that, honey. It wasn't your fault. You know that."
"Do I? I was supposed to do a simple CPR on a child. Can you really say that it wasn't my medically trained hands that stopped his heart from beating? Father would have disagreed with you, if you say yes."
He sat back on the bed and put his arm around her, "Aura, he was your brother. You couldn't hurt a pest, you're so kind. Arthur was just.. too fond of his younger son. You know it's not like he hated you. And.. what the hell! I didn't know you still hold yourself responsible for that. I thought the grudge died down when your father passed. Honey, trust me, you weren't responsible for an accident your brother had miles away from where you were."
Aura gulped a small breath down her throat and said, "then, trust me when I tell you it wasn't your fault when soldiers died on your watch. It wasn't your fault. They knew what they signed up for. And, so did their families."
Erwin sighed. "You know right, you didn't have to visit your own trauma to help me deal with mine."
"I'd do anything for you. Anything. But, yeah.. never tell me I don't understand something. Just explain if it's really something I don't understand."
"Noted, ma'am," he smiled and kissed her forehead.
"Do you think I should wear something else?" He asked, looking at himself in the mirror in the room, "for your guests, I mean. Maybe they won't like their Commander being dressed like a Commander at a party."
"It's not a party," she said, pulling up the bedsheets to her chest. She looked at him as he moved through the room with just his shirt on, unbuttoned. Even with one less body part, his naked form was majestic. His thighs were toned and the muscles on his forearm and chest rippled as he checked himself out in the mirror. His usually well-combed hair was all ruffled from the afternoon, and Aura believed she had never loved a body as much as she loved his at that very moment.
"What are you looking at?" Erwin looked back at her from where he stood, as her eyes traced the outline of his tight butt.
"My stuff!" she said, goofily, eyeing his much-larger-than-average penis as he slowly put his pants up to his waist.
"God, you're so horny!" he came back to her and kissed her forehead.
"Why don't you get ready? I'll head back to the quarters and change into something casual."
"Close the door at least," he looked back on his way out. She walked out of the duvet, naked and walked towards the door. As he looked up and down her body, drawing sharp breaths in and out, she quietly whispered, "I think I'll go commando tonight, for the Commander," before shutting the door.
