Wings
My wings flapped fast through the chilly wind of October. My mother always told me to stay inside during Winter's months.
"You having water wings are very dangerous during Winter's months," She had always told me. "They could freeze while they are flying!" I never really listened to her because Winter's months were my favorite out of the Three Lead Nymps.
Our leaders were the most respected out of anyone in our land. There was Spring, who control the environment March April and May. Her power was to create nature. Everyone says that everywhere she steps a new type of flowers has bloomed. Then there was Summer, the youngest out of the Three. She controlled June July August and September. Ever since the rebellion of Fall, one of the sisters of the Seasonal Reign, Summer had taken on the reasonability of Fall's months. Even for being so young, she was very clever and quick witted. And then there was Winter, the oldest and wisest of them all. She controlled October, November, December and February.
Winter was one that stopped Fall's reign, which was a period of time when Fall started to single out Nymps, raise them as her own, them to train them to attack The Three Lead Nymps. Surprisingly enough, Fall managed to this under all the noses of Spring, Summer, and even Winter. But the Winter found Fall one day with some common Nymps, trying to convince them to join her army. Winter soon confronted her, and put her to trial against the whole land of Nymphia. The jury declared her guilty, and banished her and her minions from the land.
Now, in the present, Nymphia lived in peace, and everyone here lives in peace.
And Today was just a normal day; I was out for a fly around the outskirts of Nymphia. I flew higher up into the sky, my wings earning me to go higher and higher. I paused and looked down at the ground.
Nymps of all kinds were seen flying or walking around Nymphia. I flapped my wings harder and smiled. Nymphia had always been a beautiful place. In Spring's months, the trees bloomed with color and beauty. Even in Winter's months, the magnificent buildings of Nymphia still sparkled with color.
The small blue Indicator, (Or also known as Cat for short) started to blink with a message from my mother.
"COME HOME, YOU NEED TO PRACTICE" the message read.
I stopped flapping and let myself fall towards the ground. I could feel my wings wanting to lift me, but I controlled them to let me fall. Once a few feet away, I let my wings and flew straight up, and then straighten myself out.
I flew past the Nymps of Nymphia, each having their own unique kind of wings. I flew past them, going against the crowd
"Watch where you're going!' A Nymp yelled after me.
"Sorry I called back without turning around. I flew deeper and Deeper into the crowd going faster and faster as I went. I finally broke away and landed on the front porch of my base. I flew the door opened and rushed inside.D
"I...HAVE ARRIVED!" I yelled as I flew in.
"Abbie, how many times have I told you not to fly in the house!" My mother yelled from the kitchen I could hear her wings flapping with irritation.
"Ah, come on Mom, it's so much easier!" I said as I fluttered to the ground.
"Your wings make everything wet Abbie." My mothers said as she walked into our Living Space. Her wings glistened the colors of the sky in Winter's sunlight.
"Now, go wash up." She said as she walked back into kitchen.
I didn't even bother going to the bathroom, and instead I quickly stuck my hands in my wings and pulled them out. Water droplets fell to the floor.
"You're not Wing-Washing are you?' my mom called from the kitchen.
"No!" I lied. "And could you bring my food to my TreeBase?"
"It will be there." She answered.
I heard her fly out the back door. I flew towards the back door and saw my mother flying in the distance. My competitiveness started to burn up inside me. I started to flap my wings hard and I shot towards the woods. I dodged all the Trees, as they flew past me like Racer Nymps. Suddenly it happened. I took a wrong turn and I slammed into a tree. My head started to pound and my vision started to turn fuzzy. The last thing I saw was a flash of green.

I woke up to a nymp staring me in the face. His face was painted with fear. His leaf green wings covered my mouth.
"Please...Ple...Please don't scream," He stuttered. He stared into my eyes. "Please...PLease...I don't want to be found." He turned his head. "Nod your head if you promise not to scream."
"He's an Outsider!" The voice in my head screamed. "He could kidnap you!" Then another voice butted in. "He's just a Nymp just like you. There's no point of tattle taling on him. He's done nothing wrong." the other voice in my head bursted out. "HE'S BASICALLY HOLDING YOU AGAINST YOU WILL!!! SCREAM AS LOUD AS YOU CAN!" It felt like Fall's reign was going on in my mind. I stopped the war by nodding slightly.
His wings flipped off my mouth. He embraced me strongly.
"Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!!!" he smiled.
"Ok, Ok, Now put me down." I said
He dropped me immediately I looked up at him. HIs clothes were sopping wet.
"Oh...! I'm so sorry, my wings tend to do that." I chuckled
"No, It's absolutely fine." He bowed down to me. "I am forever in your service."
I blinked. Nymps usually don't put themselves in the service of a common Nymp, like myself, and only to their designated leaders.
"I..I..." Then it hit me. "Follow me" I said as I flapped my wings. His wings flapped and we shot thru the woods.
I went a little slower, making sure the mysterious Nymp could keep up with me, but soon I found out that the Nymp could possibly go faster than me.
We arrived at my TreeBase, it's exterior walls looking beautiful with the wooden shutters I had added recently. I flew right in and plopped myself right into my bean bag chair.
The Nymp flew in cationly, landing on my deck before walking in. His mouth dropped to the floor.
My TreeBase wasn't that impressive as I thought he saw it as. It had a few poster's of Joanna, AKA Speed Crystal, my favorite out of our cities Racer Nymps. And one a kitten. The Three Lead Nymps are still deciding whether or not to allow "Animal Companions" as they call it,in the city yet. When they did I wouldn't stop until I got a kitten of my own. The Base also had two small window and was made out of Dark Wood. It was one of the most simplest of TreeBase designs, not nearly as impressive as the ones that Spring built for her workers.
"It's Abbie." I said, snapping him out of his amazed transe.
"Chance." He said.
"Come...sit" I said properly. I held back a chuckle. TeachBase, I always joked around with my friends acting like Spring or Summer. I would even sometimes wear my Ceremony Clothes to school just to act like Summer to give my friends a good laugh. It even had the added onus of annoying my teachers.
He walked over and bowed., and then respectfully sat on my other BeanBag chair.
"So what brings you here." I glanced down at his arm. No Cat.
"I'm...I'm looking for a friend ma'am." he said nervously.
"Call me Abbie, ok?" I chuckled. "No need to to be all prim and proper about it!"
"Oh...Sorry....um...Abbie." he looked down at his feet.
"Do you have a Cat?" I asked.
"No," he said "I lost it on the way here."
Suddenly I heard the flaps of wings.
"Hide!" I hissed under my breath. Chance nodded and completely disappeared. I gasped but shook it off. My mother flew into the Base.
"Abbie, are you ok? It's been an hour since you've been back to the base."
"Mom, I've been practicing." I said, my eyes shifting to the left. I started to fake pant.
"Your competition is in four days." my Mother scolded. "And you're just now starting to practice..."
"Yeah, yeah, mom. I know," I stood up. "I'll go practice more."
"Be back by sunset." she said as she flew out.
I sighed with relief. My mother had been bothering me day in and day out about my Racer Acception competition. I thought maybe she wouldn't bother me about my tardiness if I brought that up.
I heard a swoosh of wings and then Chance appeared before me. I stared at him in shock.
"You have your power already?!" I asked in shock.
"In my city, most Nymps get their powers when they are born." Chance explained.
I stood with my mouth gaped opened.
"I haven't even had the effects of powers yet..." I pause, remembering one important detail I had forgot to ask him.
"Why are you here?"
We stood in silence. Chance broke it.
"I'm looking for a friend." He looked up at me. "And I think you might be able to help find her."
"So this Nymp you're looking for," I asked "...is here in Nymphia?"
"I am pretty positive."
"When did she go missing?"
"What?!" I said "Do you even remember what her wings look like?"
He looked up at me "She has no wings."
I stood surprised.
"She has light green hair and has a long wavy dress as her plain clothing." he said. HIs eyes were filled with the longing to be reunited with her. "Her name is Sharon."
"She's a Niff?" I asked. "Niff's are forbidden in Nymphia." I turned towards the door. " I honestly don't think I can help you."
"She escaped to Nymphia to get wings." He said harshly.
"But, they've banned wing hormones for years." I called over my shoulder.
"She meet a smuggler from Spliff," he paused. "...my hometown." he noted. "Anyway, the smuggler said she was to meet her in Nymphia." He looked down at the ground. "I haven't seen her since."
I sighed.
"If you really feel that strongly about finding her..." I looked into his adventurous green eyes. "I'll help you."
"Oh thank you Abbie! Thank you!" he pulled something from under his plain clothing.
It was a necklace with a shiny sapphire split in half.
"Sharon has the ruby half." Chance said proudly. "They are connected by the power of Ruby and Sapphire."
"Your leaders?" I asked.
"Yes...was our leaders..." He trailed away. "Let's go find Sharon." he flapped his wings and flew out.
I shook off the rest of my questions and flew after him to Nymphia.
***
"Wait!" I called after him. "Wait! Stop! Hold on one second!"
Chance stopped flying and turned to look at me.
"My Base is really close to here, and it has protectors," I yelled after him. "We need to fly higher up so they don't detect you!"
He nodded. His wings started to flap strangely. His face went pale and he fell to the ground.
"Chance!" I shrieked. I looked up.
Three large Nymps stood behind him. They all had vests of Officers. The largest out of the three had large wings covered with Blue and Black feathers. They looked faded and worn, and started to look like bruises.
"Are you with this outsider???" He boomed.
"What did you do to him?!" I yelled.
He raised a dart gun and shot it at me. I acted quickly. I took my wing and captured the dart in my water wings and flinged the dart at one of the other officers. His wings went limp and he fell to the ground.
The Bruise Nymps's wings flapped hard. He yelled with determination. His tranquilizer raised and shot over and over again. I paused each one in their tracks, throwing them back at my attackers. The other Officer got shot by the dart and slumped to the ground.
Bruise was quick and keen, he dodged everyone of my backfires. But he was faster. He flew behind me and pointed the dart gun at my back.
Suddenly wings covered my body. I whirled around. Chance stared straight at Bruise.
"Run." he said weakly. His wings dropped and he flopped to the ground.
I didn't waste anytime getting away. I flapped my wings and shot up into the sky. Bruise was in hot pursuit, his wings nearly scraping against mine. He pulled the tranquilizer out of his pocket and shot at me. It hit my arm and I started to fade. I could feel the serum flowing into my bloodstream. The last thing I saw was my mother changing towards Bruise before I drifted into an uneasy sleep.
