Chapter 2
Orc ran.
He didn't know what else to do.
Nile was dead, and so now Porosus would be their bigwings, and Porosus was not someone he wanted to be around right now.
Eventually he found a secluded cave where he curled up in a ball and cried his heart out. When he finally stopped it was night and as he made his way out of the cave he heard a noise. He fearfully ran back into the cave just as Porosus came into view.
Porosus entered the cave and a shaking Dylus followed after.
"Wh- where are we?" Dylus asked.
"A cave."
"Wh- why would O- Orc be in he- here?"
"He wouldn't be," Porosus asked, "but now no one will hear you scream."
Porosus latched her strong jaws around Dylus's neck. The runt let out a single yelp before falling silent.
Orc leapt.
His talons were around Porosus's throat before he knew what was happening. The older MudWing shrieked and scratched her talons across Orc's snout, throwing him off balance.
Orc let out a roar before going into a flurry of attacks. Only a few hit, but he finally managed to bite Porosus's leg.
The MudWing let out a howl of pain and collapsed on the floor. She struggled to stand and Orc was mortified by what he'd done.
Had he crippled someone? He couldn't have actually injured someone, right? And definitely...
Not his family. Not his family.
Porosus let out a feeble blast of fire, and Orc blocked it with his wing. He felt little pain.
"Wha..."
"A blood red egg..." said a raspy voice.
"Who's there?" Porosus asked fearfully.
"Come on, young MudWing, finish what you started," the raspy voice said before falling to a whisper only Orc could hear. "Kill her."
Orc felt possessed. He was unable to control what he was doing. He grabbed Porosus's neck in his talons and then-
Snap..!
Orc backed away. He couldn't look. He couldn't see that look of terror he knew he's see in Porosus's eyes.
"Well done..." the raspy voice said. A shadow covered the entrance to the cave.
Orc blew a short flame and in the darkness he could barley make out the features of a NightWing.
"I am the messenger of a certain GlitterPerfectWing," the NightWing said, "Or rather, an assassin." The NightWing's eyes twinkled as he continued. "Perhaps we could sit down and talk?" The NightWing motioned towards one half of the cave and a small table appeared, complete with a candle.
Numbly Orc nodded and he sat down at the table, the NightWing siting across from him.
The NightWing was silent for a moment. "Would you like to talk about what happened?" he asked carefully.
Orc wanted to burst into tears, he wanted to cry, but found that he couldn't. He'd already cried all he could.
He shook his head, silent.
The NightWing took a deep breath. "I'd like to offer you... A job," he said carefully.
Orc looked at him carefully. Weakly, he said, "Of what kind?"
"We need something from you..." the NightWing gave a short smile.
"We need you to be the bad guy."
