24-Revealed
The giants looked at Isaac in disbelief. Becoming self-conscious, he nervously looked over his shoulder at Hailey, who looked down at him. She nodded reassuringly, lowering her hand and placing it on the table. Cautious, Isaac stepped off, his sword drawn and held tightly in his grip as he stood close to Hailey's hand. He couldn't help but stare as his heartbeat filled his ears. Gently, she prodded him with her finger, pushing him into the middle of the table against his will. The other giants were silent as they watched what the pair would do.
"Dad, Justin, Ava... Meet Isacresenta, the wingless fairy. I call him Isaac." She had a sudden urge of confidence.
With a shaky breath, Isaac managed, "H-How she cuttin'?"
The largest giant, Hailey's father, rubbed his temples, trying to comprehend how Isaac was even there.
"I find it best not t' dwell on it too much, sir." Offered Isaac, knees shaking as he remembered everyone else from his past, and how bad it had gotten.
"Now you two know why I laughed when I said he was like my little brother," Hailey laughed a bit, clearly aware of the fear radiating off of the fairy.
Ava nodded slowly, eyes glued to Isaac. "Now we know..."
"How on earth...?" Hailey's dad trailed off, contemplating. Almost like how Markiplier did in his video, Mark Contemplating A Banana For 5 Minutes, but less over the top dramatic.
Isaac backed up to the one he knew he was safe with, uncomfortable with the attention. She let him sit on her palm, although she didn't take him away from the table.
"The reason I've been hiding away in my room so much and refusing to hang out is because I need to take care of him." Hailey said. "I feel like if I leave him alone for more than a minute, he'd end up getting hurt."
"But I keep telling her I'm fine and that she doesn't need to do any of that." Isaac countered, turning around to face Hailey so she knew he meant it.
She rolled her eyes. "But then Ross started making things even more complicated. He asked about my buddy constantly, then later began to investigate my room. Now..." She sighed. "He demolished my room, and had the audacity to destroy Isaac's home."
"The doll house?" Justin asked, finally being able to say something.
Isaac was surprised at what they called it. He wasn't a doll! Was that house meant for dolls? He became snarky and arrogant as he asked, "Do I look like a doll to ya?"
Ava smiled. "A little bit."
"'EY! I AIN'T NO DOLL, LASSIE!" He jumped up, temper flared for the first time in a long time. "I DARE YA T' CALL ME THAT AGAIN! COME ON! SAY IT!"
"Isaac, easy." Said Hailey, putting a finger on his head and patting him.
"Sorry, Hails." He apologized, sitting back down as he calmed himself.
"What was that about?" Justin questioned, surprised.
"Fairies have huge tempers and get angry over simply things really easily. They usually act like what you just saw, although Isaac hasn't acted like that for awhile." Replied Hailey, stroking the fairy's back to help him calm down even more.
"How come he isn't like that to you, then?" Asked Hailey's father.
"I was able to become his friend. They have a good side, it's just incredibly difficult to get them to trust you enough to get them to that side. It honestly took forever for me to just get him to reply when I asked him a question."
"Strange," Justin thought out loud, "I thought fairies were kind and sweet."
Isaac burst out into scornful laughter. "You mean those dainty little Disney fairies?" He jumped off of Hailey's hand and began to speak in a girly voice, making exaggerated movements like a Disney princess would. "Oh, wow! Pixie Hallow sure is pretty! Oh, hey there, Tink! Wanna fly to Mermaid Lagoon and hang out with Peter Pan? Tee hee hee! Be careful not to get your wings wet. La la la la la! Adventure!" He skipped around in a circle, then stopped abruptly and stomped a foot, turning to them with a glare and a scowl. "Hell no!"
Hailey's dad chuckled, and so did Justin. Ava just smiled.
"And don't you dare get me started on that 'elemental powers' shtuff. All of that is just completely ridiculous! Am I shootin' fire outta my toes or spewin' water outta me ears? No? Didn't think so."
"You know what?" Justin began to grin from ear to ear. "I like you. I like you a lot."
"Good for you, lad."
Ava questioned, "Are you Irish?"
"I'm not pasty white for nothin'."
"Huh. I thought fairies were from Scotland." Admitted Hailey's father.
"Nope. We are all over the top Irish. Old, classic Irish, if you will."
Hailey's dad leaned back and scratched his chin, thinking. "Are all fairies wingless, too?"
"Nah," The fairy took a glance at his back, "I was just born without 'em. That's why my parents left me in an alley the first chance they got."
"That's pretty rough." Ava frowned, sad for him.
"Ya learn t' live with it." He shrugged.
Justin began tapping his foot. "Where are you from?"
"In a hallowed out tree known to the wee folk as Lustorioff."
He nodded.
Hailey cut in. "I know this is all really fascinating to you guys, but I need to go fix my room and Isaac's home. The fan might break if the rug stays on it like that."
"Imma comin'." Isaac said, hopping onto her palm and sheathing his sword.
"I'll help, too." Hailey's dad offered, getting up out of his chair.
"Same here." Ava agreed, standing up out of the dusty, unused chair she sat in.
"Yep," Justin stood as well, and with that, they all headed upstairs. The crew entered Hailey's room again, her dad walking in first and gently and carefully pulling the rug off the fan.
"... So what are we going to do about that?" Isaac asked, pointing to the 'doll house' or whatever they had the nerves to call it.
"Hopefully fix it," sighed Hailey, kneeling and picking up a piece that used to be apart of the bedroom.
"Maybe we can even make it better for him." Her dad suggested to her.
"How?" Hailey questioned.
"Uh... I dunno. Maybe paint a few walls different colors that he would like?"
"... That'd be nice." Isaac shrugged, hopping off Hailey's hand and looking over his demolished house.
"If we're really smart about this," continued her dad, "we could probably build a working toilet, too."
This caught Isaac's attention. "I get plumbing?"
Hailey's dad chuckled. "I mean, we could try."
"Yes!" Isaac leapt for joy.
"It'll take awhile, though, so he may need to sleep somewhere else."
"I could put his things on my nightstand." Hailey offered. "That might be a good place for now."
Justin and Ava were putting books and papers in the desk and shelf, trying to put everything back the way it had been. Hailey's dad was straightening out the rug, sighing when he finished. Hailey was putting her clothes away. Isaac was pushing his couch into the furniture and appliance pile that he had started. However, the couch was heavy, and it tipped over, making Isaac very, very irritated. He began kicking it, growling and trying to shove it into the pile. Hailey's dad noticed and came over, kneeling down in front of him with his large, towering body. It was incredibly intimidating, but Isaac kept having his little fit, punching and kicking and shoving the couch.
When Isaac couldn't do it anymore, he sat down and hugged his legs, resting his head on his knees. The thought of his house being destroyed actually dawned on him, and he sat there in silence for a short while.
Her dad looked down at him, then simply picked up the couch with his finger and thumb and placed it in the pile. He placed a few other big things--such as the wardrobe--in the pile as well. Isaac lifted his head and watched him for a moment, not sure to be angry or upset that his home was gone. When her dad was satisfied with what he did, he leant out his pinky to the fairy. Isaac used it for support to stand up, brushing out the wrinkles in his clothes.
"It'll be okay, Isaac." He assured, awkwardly patting the fairy's head with his pinky. Isaac had flinched at first, but then just stared up at the big man, watching him. Hailey's dad stood up and went over to the bed, picking up the mattress and sliding it back on the frame with ease.
"So what are we going to do about Ross?" Justin questioned, putting another book in its place on the desk.
"Yeah, what are we gonna do? It's not like we can just go to the cops." Ava agreed.
Hailey's dad glanced over his shoulder as he made his daughter's bed. "What do you mean? Of course we can."
"And say what? 'A crazy man wrecked Hailey's room because he thought there was a fairy there'? How insane would we sound?"
"We could exclude Isaac." Said Hailey, folding up the last of her clothes and placing them neatly in her drawer. "We can just talk about how he trashed the room, and the other incidents before that."
"Yeah, but we won't have any solid proof other than the note, and that note is going to raise a lot of questions." Ava brushed her straight brown hair out of her face.
"How so?" Questioned the fairy. "I don't see a problem with--oh, wait. The 'hiding someone' part."
"Yep. Completely obvious that we're in trouble... Tacos."
Hailey giggled at Ava's last statement.
"Tacos would be amazing right now." Mumbled Justin, the very idea of the food causing him to drool.
"What?" Isaac picked up his pillows and blankets. It had started getting much colder, and Hailey attempted to keep him warm with several sweaters she crochetted, along with fluffy pants made of soft material. He was currently wearing a green sweater with soft blue pants, the sweater being equipped with a hood.
"Tacos," answered Hailey's dad. "You know, mexican food? Tortillas with beans and cheese or whatever you want on it? Ring a bell?"
"No."
"Oh." He fluffed the pillows on Hailey's bed. "Welp, maybe we'll have to change that."
"... Can I put sugar on it?"
"What?" Justin gagged, alarmed. "No! Gross."
Ava shrugged. "Eh. I'd try it."
"We can put something sugary on the side for you, okay?" Hailey came over and patted his back, helping pick up the pieces of the house.
"A'ight."
"So I guess it's decided." Said Hailey's dad as he finished up the bed, smoothing out the wrinkles. "We're having tacos for dinner."
"Yay." The giants said in unison. All were unenthusiastic accept for Ava, who was bouncing happily on her knees as she kept cleaning.
