The Wonder of You. (1)
A dark forbidding rock
Climbs high
Above a grey and sullen sea
This lonely shard
Is home to me
My sanctuary.
Sleek grey warships
Silently sail by
All angles and menace
White faces on the bridge
just stare
And wonder why I'm there.
One morning
Completely without warning
A small sailboat appears
Broken mast, tattered sails
It's master hails
For help.
I give safe haven
To this stricken craft
And comfort
To its Master
At first
I spoke in silence.
But then we talked till dawn
And come the morn
The sea was dressed
In different hue
A soft bright blue
With dancing waves.
Dolphins poked their noses
At the sky
And I
The first in many years
Just laughed at their frivolity
And held a friendly hand.
Now my jagged rock
Has softened
And
We stroll on golden sand
While I marvel
At the wonder of you.
