Step in time to do what you can
is what I was taught to be a man

Yet not every person wants your help
Not every situation calls for you

Falling to the steps shaking in a seizure
Long haired man with beard is a stranger
People in the stadium walk right over him
and just a boy I yell, hey isn't this a sin!

Lady in the store is screaming loud
Her child was lost and now is found
and someone quips from the crowd
to mock her pain quite out loud

A woman going to watch a rally alone
is assaulted with eggs in her face
by strong men with their character shown
and nobody helps to everyone's disgrace

Ignorance is bliss and kindness is forgotten
Are we are so advanced as we love to say?
Things like this prove how far we've gotten
and the truth of our barbaric shame
