Symbols and memories (Continued 2)
WALLSTREET: [It's your most precious possession. The symbol of your clan!]
FOX LADY: What are symbols for? To remind us of who or what we are. (beat) My clan would gladly possess the memory of an honorable deed than a silly scroll.
Wallstreet sighs and nods gently. He understands. They embrace like they don't want to let each other go.
EXT. THE BOAT DECK - DAY (LATER)
Wallstreet is alone at the deck, looking toward the harbor. At the harbor, Fox Lady is slowly walking away. We hear her voice.
FOX LADY: (V.O.) When I go home to the Creator of the Universe, the long journey of my clan will come to an end. All the symbols will be meaningless. There's nothing we possess that I can carry.
Fox Lady glances back at the boat, smiles at Wallstreet. She transforms into the white fox.
FOX LADY: (V.O.) But the love of a friend, I can take with me.
The fox gives Wallstreet one more look and walks away.
INSERT - CHINESE SHOE
We see a worn out Chinese shoe, overflowing with cockroaches, floating on the sea. Some cockroaches are falling off to the water. We hear their tiny, "chipmunk" voices as they chant the song "Shanghaied to Hong Kong" like a mantra, over and over again.
COCKROACHES: Shanghaied to Hong Kong / Shanghaied to Hong Kong / Shanghaied to Hong Kong / Shanghaied to Hong Kong
