Sweet and sour Chinese family (Continued)
INT. WANG WHARTON'S HOUSE/PRINCIPAL ROOM - DAY
It is a typical Shanghainese house with a hodgepodge of cheap and expensive furnishing. We hear the noise, the laughter and mild ruckus among drunken men from the den.
INT. WANG WHARTON'S HOUSE/DEN
We enter the den with a gambling table where Wang and his three friends, CHEN, JACK, and LEI, all in their late forties, traditional Chinese outfit, are drinking wine and playing cards. They speak in Mandarin. Jack turns down his empty glass.
JACK: [Wang, do your guests have to serve themselves now?]
WANG: (calls loudly) Wallstreet! Wallstreet!
Wallstreet comes, carrying the mop with him.
WANG: [How many times do I have to tell you not to let the wine glasses run dry when we're playing?]
Wallstreet shows him the mop and points to the porch and motions that he was cleaning. Wang rises and smacks him on the head; Wallstreet quietly takes it.
WANG: [Don't argue with me, indolent boy! Bring us more wine and step lively.]
Wallstreet nods and leaves, hurrying.
LEI: [Aren't you a bit too harsh on him? He's your nephew.]
WANG: (smirks) [He reminds me of his father who enjoyed the good life in America with his mother while my mother and I worked our asses off in our father's business here.]
