How to tame a tikbalang (Continued)

KEN:     Didn't we already pass this way?

Victoria suddenly stops, training her flashlight at the coconut trees in front of her. The two boys crash behind her. There is a sense of an unseen presence.

VICTORIA:     Oh, no! It's the tikbalang! It led us astray. Quick! One of you wear your shirt inside-out.

KEN:     Why?

VICTORIA:     According to folk tales, it counteracts tikbalang magic.

Wallstreet quickly takes off his shirt and puts it back again inside-out. And they see a horrifying sight...

ANGLE ON THE THREE KIDS

Against the moon-speckled darkness, we see the TIKBALANG, a giant bony humanoid with the head and feet of a horse and disproportionately long limbs, squatting behind the cluster of dead coconut trees. Its knees, reach above its head. It has a mane of sharp spines, all black.

The three kids shriek and shrink backward huddling together, terrified. The Tikbalang breaks into a chilling neigh that sounds more like laughter. Then it speaks in Filipino with a deep but refined voice.

TIKBALANG:     [I'm sorry to interrupt your journey but this is my domain and you're trespassing.]

VICTORIA:     (firmly)   [Trespassing? I'm Victoria De Vega. This farm is owned by my father. So, technically, this is our domain.]

KEN:     (whispers)   Victoria. Be nice.

The Tikbalang slowly extends its huge clawed hand and lifts Victoria's chin up with its forefinger. She shudders.
