Beatriz and Fernando are having tea at the table. At the sofa, Victoria is preoccupied with the radio, turning its dials to find a station. Wallstreet is sitting on the rocking chair, reading a book. Beatriz turns to the direction of the driveway, stands up and walks toward the railings.

Her POV: General Misuo's car is pulling up in the driveway.

BACK TO SCENE

BEATRIZ:     (in Spanish)   [Fernando, I didn't know Mitsuo is coming today.]

Fernando stands up, a look of concern in his eyes. We hear the radio broadcast. It's the voice of Rahul. Wallstreet excitedly points at the radio.

RAHUL:     (V.O.)   Good afternoon, Philippines. This is Rahul Sen. We interrupt this program to bring you a very important news.

VICTORIA:     (amazed)   It's him! It's Rahul.

Wallstreet and Victoria pump the air and clap, very proud of Rahul.

VICTORIA:     Mama, Papa, it's our friend Rahul Sen on radio.

RAHUL:     (V.O.)   The Americans have successfully landed in Leyte! General Douglas MacArthur kept his promise to the Filipino people.

Fernando walks toward the radio, listening intently. Beatriz is stunned, now she understands why General Harada has come unannounced.
