You couldn't concentrate on what Yoru was saying. You were currently trying to do two things at once. One: you'd send a bunch of sparrow manifestations to cut the strings on the citizens around the kingdom so they were no longer controlled. That alone was eating away at your energy at a pace you'd rather not think about. Two: your hands were bleeding, profusely, as you used your abilities to keep the 'Bird Cage,' as Doflamingo had put it; in one spot and no longer advance on the citizens running to the toy factory.

"Y/N! You're going to die if you keep doing this! The citizens are fine!"

"No they're not! Dammit they are not okay! I'm trying to concentrate, so unless you plan on giving me a portion of your energy to keep me standing do me a favor and shut up!"

You didn't bother to respond to him in your mind. There was no one else around other than you and Yoru. You made sure to find a spot where no one could see you work your "magic."

"Y/N...I'm worried about you."

"Why? I'm doing what a marine should be doing! I'm protecting innocent people from getting hurt anymore!"

"At what cost?!"

"Myself if it calls for it!"

You could feel the life in you dying, something seemed to be tugging at your mind. Like a spider crawling inside your brain and you couldn't swipe it away. Tiny prickling that just wouldn't go away.

Stupid girl! Let me out!

You heard a faint whisper say, but didn't think much of it, instead you thought of something happier.

Koby...you'd be so jealous right now. I got to meet Straw Hat. And see him fight. You'd be losing your mind.

Tears sprang to your eyes as you thought of your ex-lover and friend. He would've stood next to you. His face hardened in his efforts to keep innocents safe, his smile gleaming at you giving you hope that everything would be okay. And now, you didn't have that.

"WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING?!"

The voice made your eyes go wide and your body stiffen. It was Roronoa Zoro, and when you turned to him he looked pissed off. You turned your eyes back to the Bird Cage. Hearing Straw Hat and Doflamingo go at it. You felt the cage try to advance causing you to curse at the added weight of it pushing against you.

"You idiot! You're going to lose your hands!"

"Do me a favor then and help me, instead of just standing there and yelling and not doing anything productive."

You spat back in all your monotone glory. Not caring in the slightest really if this cage swallowed you whole. But you did care about the innocent people who would be caught up in the mess if you let go.

"Aaargh! Are you always this stubborn? Or are you just stupid?"

"Yes." You answered in your monotone voice you felt him go still, a curse left his lips before he drew his swords and walked towards you.

Before he could take the last few steps Yoru turned into his wolf form. Growling and snarling at him. The pirate stopped, placing his swords back in their sheaths and dropping to one knee.

"I'm not going to hurt your friend. I'm going to help her. Look at her she's fading. Can't you feel it?"

You felt Yoru's eyes on you then his whine broke your heart. And the guilt you'd pushed aside for him came at you on full force. Yoru's very soul was tethered to yours, if you died so did he.

Mine is too moron! Let me out and let me help!

That damn voice again what was it. You heard metal and the "bars" clash and saw that the swordsman had in fact wanted to help.

"Zoro-senpai!!! Where are you dabe?"

You heard several more voices coming towards you. And you internally groaned. The sparrows were almost done freeing the citizens and when they disappeared their energy would flow back to you. You could probably say it was a devil fruit, but who'd believe that? Everyone at the naval medical academy knew you could swim as well as most of your ship mates.

Fuck my life.

"Indeed you're screwed."

Yoru had rammed his head into the cage and helped as well. You didn't hear there conversation that happened with the other pirates but they were also helping you keep the cage at bay as best you could. Even Fujitora at one point came over.

At one point the cafe actually moved back. Albeit a few centimeters from where you stood but still.

You were getting weaker and weaker. You felt through the sparrows that people were dying, so you had them absorb themselves into the citizens to give them life savinng healing.

Stupid child! You are not going to take me with you! I just started to see the world again! You will not take that away from me!

Again that prickling feeling inside your head. It was more insistent though, and suddenly you felt yourself be energized, like never before even more so than when Yoru gave you a piece of himself.

"Y/N, what is this feeling?"

I don't know...

"Hey little marine! Your nose is bleeding...and so are your ears!" The tall blonde next to you who you knew as Cavendish alerted everyone, causing all eyes to fall on you.

"Don't worry about it."

"Dr. L/N, I order you to stand down." Fujitora's blind gaze was focused ahead. However you felt the weight of his words, and sensed that he also felt the new power surging through you.

"I can't do that sir. Everyone is fighting to survive. What kind of marine would I be if I also didn't do the same?"

"You're a doctor!"

"I had to become a soldier first before I could be a doctor like I wanted. Therefore I am doing what I should."

"And what if those who will need healing?"

"Don't worry. I'll make sure no one dies today."

You don't know how you knew that. How you knew that you'd have enough power to keep everyone alive. But you just knew.

That's right! With my help you can do anything!!

No I can't. But just this once. I'll show off.

Fine by me.

You began to glow and emanate a violet aura. It was so strong it was visible to those who stood around you. The shocked gazes you felt, even the 'what the hells' that were whispered you heard.

What do you desire?

For no one to die.

As you wish!

<Zoro's POV>

You started to glow, and Zoro didn't know what was happening. Only that it wasn't meant to be feared but accepted. He knew this girl wouldn't hurt any of them, nor the others that were scattered everywhere in this kingdom.

When the violet aura around her began to attach itself to everyone around they all felt a renewed energy that made holding the cage easier to do. Zoro also felt any injuries sustained also started to heal.

Just what is that? It's not a devil fruit, the smell is different.

Zoro always saw opponents as beasts. Each person viewed as a different kind of animal, that could just as easily rip your throat out as it could cuddle into your lap. When Zoro stared at you, all he saw was a fox. Someone cunning, clever and deadly when needed. You also seemed to be cute, endearing and approachable when you trusted someone.

He saw the aura take shape into the very animal he imagined. Thousands of them, as they dispersed to what he only assumed would be to heal people just enough to where they wouldn't perish at the hands of Doflamingo. Not ever again.

She definitely owes me a sit down meal. I want to hear her story. It sounds like she's had lots of fun. But it also seems like she had more scars on her soul than anywhere else.

Hello everyone!!! Sorry this chapter was so short. The next one will be about the same length I thought about having reader go along with all the events of Dressrosa but so much happens it was easier to focus on one thing rather than the collective.

Next chapter we'll get to see more of the new power and learn who the voice is!!!!
