It had been one month since you'd woken up, after a couple of more days in bed, you had gone to your lab and drawn your own blood. Evidently the Amethyst Cobra that bit you had been a juvenile and had pumped all its venom through you. Smoker had said that your haki must've saved you and you not sleeping for almost three days straight could've been another reason why you'd slept for so long. While it was partially true you knew the real reason.

Yoru for a lack of a better term was your familiar made from yours and your brother's souls. You spent a good long while when you had been unconscious, talking to the spirit. When he found out that you'd imagined him as a bird, he'd been oddly happy about it. However he'd made himself to be bigger to fit your image of a Ghoul Doctor. Most people did associate crows and ravens with death or bad luck. The first time you'd walked out of the warship to check on the villagers, he'd rested on your shoulders and had stared down anyone who whispered about him. This was definitely going to make those weak of spirit avoid you even more.

Oddly enough Smoker seemed to enjoy the company of your avian friend, you more than once caught him stroking Yoru's feathers absentmindedly. You'd sketched it and given it to the man, he growled saying that he didn't need it, but ended up carefully putting it away for safe keeping. He was also shocked that you knew how to draw, when you said you'd taught yourself years ago, he huffed and then went back to his job.

After you'd perfected the medicine you spent the next two weeks drawing your blood, making medicine taking a day off to eat plenty of food to help keep up your blood supply and taking it easy. Now that there was three extra ships which came fully staffed, the men and women on your ship got a good weeks rest. Most people eating and sleeping. After those two weeks, you and everyone on your ship, were to report back to HQ. Something you were dreading. The Cipher Pol who'd injured you, wasn't found on the beach, you'd told Garp about it and he'd been furious. The marks on your shoulder and thigh had scarred, Koby frowned whenever he saw them. He'd let you know that he didn't see you any less, he was more angry that he couldn't protect you.

Helmeppo and Grount were also pissed off. Anytime they walked by you both of them had developed a habit of patting your left shoulder blade their silent support bringing your signature smirk to your face.

Saying goodbye to the villagers you'd also apologized for not finding a solution sooner and that you were sorry that your incompetence led to so many deaths. They'd merely smiled and said thank you. It almost made you cry. Before leaving they'd had a funeral for the 16 souls who'd passed away. You barely made it through without crying.

You were currently organizing all the paperwork that would need to be submitted to Akainu from each commanding officer. You'd been doing that for the past two days and Yoru was annoyed for being cooped up.

This is stupid!! Why is there so much paperwork?

"Because it took several days to one, get people tested, two stop people from dying and three I was out for 5 days: or did you forget that fact?"

Why does there need to be so much paperwork though? You'd think you were preparing a history book!

"In a way we are. Accomplishments, failures, battles fought, discoveries found, all those we include so we can let future generations know what we did."

Still think it's stupid.

"You know you can always go out on the deck and fly right? Grount is out there right now, you two get along great."

Cause you two were friends before I was born, since he's your friend he's mine too.

"I'm sure he feels the same. Now go you're driving me crazy with all your squawking."

Fine. But don't expect me to come back tonight!

"As long as your on the ship I think you'll be just fine."

You opened the door for the bird and he took his opportunity to fly away. He ran right into Koby though.

"Ooof! Hi Yoru-San!"

Caw caw. Tell me again why you like this cinnamon bun?

"You were born from apart of me Yoru. You know why I like him."

That comment made Yoru gag and Koby blush. You chuckled at the very different reactions and Yoru flew to find who he believed was one of the same people on board.

Him thinking Grount is stable is like saying a land mine won't explode.

"What brings you by Captain?"

He glared at you, since you two had made up you'd started to enjoy teasing him every now and then, you'd call him Captain when you were alone.

"I was going to help you with your paperwork Y/N-San."

"I would appreciate the help Captain."

"Grrr. Stop please Y/N, you calling me Captain is making my skin crawl."

"Hehehe. Okay I'm sorry."

For the next 5 hours you completed the paperwork and we're now forwarding the copies over to HQ so they could have everything documented when you got there and your men and women on board could take the next few weeks off.

You felt your skin itching where the claw marks were. They were still healing just in the last parts of it. You got up to leave when Koby picked you up and took you to the infirmary. He sprinted there so as to not run into anyone.

"Woah Koby what's gotten into you?"

He didn't answer once inside and in your bedroom he smashed his lips to yours almost painfully and started to ravish your lips. You moaned into the kiss, and put your fingers in his hair, taking off his glasses and bandana while he started to trail kisses down your jawline, ears and neck.

"I want you Y/N! I've missed you so damn much I need you. Please..." you nodded your head without much hesitation, in truth you needed his touch as much as he needed yours.

Koby took his time, he traced his fingertips all over your body and gave you butterfly kisses that made your heart race. Anytime you tried to reciprocate his affections he simply pinned your hands down and attacked your mouth.

"Ko-by..." your breathy moans in his ear caused him to shiver you felt it. He then sat up and took his shirt off, revealing his muscular chest that he earned with his hard work. You sat up and kissed his abdomen tracing your tongue just above the waistband of his pant.

"Mmmmm Y/N....haaaaa." Koby's own breathy voice flipped your switch and you also started taking your shirt off.

A few minutes later after more kissing and touching, you were both naked, and just holding each other.

"I love you Y/N."

"I love you too Koby." Always.

For the next 3 hours you would make love to each other. Koby never once leaving your side. He made sure he paid extra attention to your right thigh anytime he could covering it in bites and kisses.

After the three hours, you both showered put on pajamas and Koby fell asleep holding you, your back against his chest.

"Caw Caw. Everything okay?"

"Yeah everything is fine. I didn't think you'd come back tonight though."

"Meh it was getting cold outside plus you're finally going to sleep meaning I can no sleep too."

"I'd say sorry but I'm not. Hehehe."

"Figured. Now let's go to sleep. I'm excited to see everyone else's reaction to me."

You chuckled and cuddled into your boyfriend some more, and fell asleep in his warm enrage with Yoru getting comfy by your feet.

——4 days later——

"Dr. Major General L/N Y/N, reporting in sir!" You were announced by a guy you couldn't quite remember his name. He looked half dead with a weird helmet. He kept trying not to look at Yoru but was failing big time. It was kinda funny.

"Enter." He moved with door for you, you gave a slight bow and walked into the Fleet Admirals office. He was pouring over paperwork you waited to be addressed and just let him work.

"You're back."

"Yessir." More silence his frown getting deeper, whatever he was looking at he was upset. Heat suffocating the room and causing a light layer of sweat to form on your brow.

"It seems you had a rough time on this mission."

"No more so than what Ive experienced before."

"I find that hard to believe."

Even more silence from the man at his desk. You didn't dare wipe away your sweat or even complain about the heat radiating off of him.

"Sakazuki~ oya? It's the Ghoul Doctor~Hmm you're sweating." Kizaru barged into Akainu's office without being announced you don't even think he knocked. He took out his handkerchief and wiped your brow for you.

Caw Caw

Yoru's squawking finally made the Fleet Amdiral look up from his desk and stare at you and your feathered companion. The heat that was swarming around the room died down.

"Finally that heat was killing me!"

Yoru you're not helping.

"Why is he walking towards us?"

Sure enough the tall volcano strolled right up to you and just stared at Yoru.

"What is this?"

"I fixed him up in the island and he's followed me since. His name is Yoru. He's a raven."

"That's the biggest raven I've ever seen~" Kizaru attempted to touch Yoru's head, but he ducked right before his fingers could graze him. "Hmmm he's peculiar..."

Akainu first touched your head when Yoru studied him he was about to peck him.

Yoru don't! This guy is the head of the Marines! He'll kill you!

And if I die that means you do too.

Just let him pay your head dammit!

Yoru was not happy but allowed the man to sort of touch him. Until he'd had enough.

"Hmm. I received your reports along with the others. You didn't rest for almost 4 days?"

"I was determined to find a cure."

"Which you did. It says here that you now are immune to most poisons, since you were bitten by the Amethyst Cobra. And you'll be giving your blood for the Calypsees crabs venom."

"I have the means in my body and therefore I have a responsibility to ensure it is shared."

"Indeed." More silence. "There will be a banquet and ball in your honor. Everyone who was aboard your ship is invited. Your attendance is required. And you're welcome to invite up to 10 people you personally know."

"Everyone I personally know outside of work is either dead or too far away." You stated a matter of factly. "I will however bring Yoru. And if I can invite Vice Admirals Garp, Smoker, Hina, Momonga, and Vergo they can invite anyone they wish to."

"That's fine. The banquet will be in two days. I suggest you find a dress sometime today or tomorrow. You're dismissed."

"Yessir. Fleet Admiral. Admiral Kizaru." You saluted them both and waited until you were far enough away to practically run.

"I get the feeling he wanted you to admit to something."

Whatever it is, he'll have to ask me himself.

"So I wasn't imagining it? He was feeling you out?"

The both of us. Yes. But we're good for now. Now we have a whole other problem.

"Dress shopping. Sounds fun. Hehehe."

"Your sarcasm isn't appreciated Yoru."

"You forget who I got that from already?"

You hadn't. It made you smile to think that your brother and you had the same sense of sarcasm.

——6 hours later——

"It shouldn't be that hard to find a dress...just buy the one that fits you best."

Not helping. Why don't you go fly around? It's not like you can be captured anyways.

"Thank goodness I don't know if I can take you being indecisive much longer."

He flew off, you left the fifth store and went to the next one. You huffed in frustration you'd gotten lucky the last time around. The dress from your first banquet had been tailored to you. But you didn't think you'd get that lucky again.

"Well, well, well. We meet again young lady." The voice made you stop and you turned to see the old woman from before, a knowing smirk on her face. You stood there just dumbfounded, then for good measure you smacked yourself. The action caused those around you to pause and stare in concern, when you realized it wasn't a dream you walked over to her. "Did you think I was a ghost missy?"

"No. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't going insane."

"And you though smacking yourself was a good way to measure your sanity?" You shrugged your shoulders. "Anyway missy, I am here to offer my services again. I've been watching you go from store to store only to leave empty handed."

You looked around and sensed no one suspicious around.

"You're taking payment this time old lady." You plopped 400 beris on the table before she could start no.

"Hahaha very well. But it's going to cost you a little more than that." You smirked and gave her an extra 1,000. She took the money and held her hand for yours.

This time you gave it over willingly knowing now what to expect. She sliced your palm and went to work again.

"Stitch Stitch no mi. Memory Dress." You watched as the glittery sparkles formed over the fabric. "Turn away girl! This dress will be a surprise!" Her stern voice had your body obeying before you could stop yourself. You stayed that way for about 5 minutes before she chuckled. "This dress is very different from the one I made you before. This one feels very liberating and confident. I wonder why that is."

"You're guess is as good as mine." You simply stated with your dress in a black box, however, before you could reach for it and grab it, the old lady grabbed your hand again.

"Keep this one missy. Let it be a reminder of the happiness you feel now, when you're going through difficult times. Also here."

She handed you a hair pin, it had white flower, leaves and filigree in it. You thought there was real diamonds in it but you weren't sure.

"Thank you Granny. Will I see you again."

"Maybe, but we'll see our lives are dictated by the ocean. Are they not?"

"Indeed." You smirked and left some more money on the counter before returning to the warship.

——2 days later——

"Hey Y/N! You almost done? You're going to be late to your own ball. How sad would that be?" You ignored Grount hurrying you for the umpteenth time, and looked at yourself in the mirror one final time.

This dress was defiantly way different from the one before. This dress had jeweled straps, with it continuing in a criss-cross across your upper back and shoulders. There was a space between your waist and lower back, the front of the dress went down into a deep V showing cleavage. Your hair was put up in a low bun, with the hair clip that had been given to you, your makeup was simple with greys and blacks on your eyes and a matte pink lip stain. You finished the look with some gloss and walked out to see Grount waiting for you. He was about to make a snide comment until he saw you. His eyes went wide and they wandered your entire body. It should be said that Grount was in fact your date, you and Koby hadn't been found out, and you both wanted to keep your relationship a secret still: since Grount was on of the few people who knew about it he offered to be your escort.

"Y/N...you look beautifu."

His honesty made you blush. You cleared your throat and took a good look at him. He was wearing all black except for his tie and vest were a deep red matching his hair.

"You look pretty good yourself. Shall we go and get his over with?"

"Hahaha c'mon don't be like that. This is a party for you."

"I don't need it."

"You don't but the Marines do. Successful missions like this help grow our reputation and get more people to enlist." He offered his arm, which you took and you both walked to the venue.

"Y/N! Grount! You guys look awesome!" Helmeppo waved you both over, his shout made everyone stare, you noticed many girls fawning over Grount.

The ball was taking place outdoors, with tables and chairs perched in huge trees the dance floor was split into 4 different sections, getting higher and higher. You'd asked for a venue to accommodate the giants and they delivered. The lights were bright enough to illuminate everything while being dim enough that you could still see the stars.

"Dr. Y/N!"

"Oh Saphi. Wow you look gorgeous." The giantess wore a form fittied mermaid style dress, strapless and with a v-neck. Her long blonde hair flowed in curled ringlets down her back.

"As do you! I'm excited, apparently these floor levels were designed, built and engineered by giants so we won't break through anything! I hope there's a lot of food."

You chuckled at the giantess, happy she was so excited.

Caw Caw.

"Y/N-San, Grount!" You turned to face Koby. You flushed anew. He wore, all black like Grount, only his vest and tie were the same deep blue as your dress. His black bandana pulled his hair back, and his smile was blinding.

"You look good tonight Captain Koby." Koby flushed and scratched his cheek and chuckled. He walked over and hugged both you and Grount, many eyes were on you all.

"Save a dance for me Y/N?"

"Of course." You patted his back, and he snuck a kiss to your neck. You all walked up together and when you arrived at the main banquet level.

Your jaw slacked ever so slightly. Mason jars filled with twinkle lights, greys, blues and dark reds were the colors. The air smelled delicious, you saw huge rack of meat being cooked and you knew there had to be a chef that was a Giant as part of the hosting party. The trees were in full bloom their flowers of red, blue, violet and yellow were stunning.

"Wow....this is amazing." You couldn't help but gape, Yoru cawed his approval and flew around the branches before perching on one.

The party started, while everyone was dressed fancy, the party had a very relaxing atmosphere. Everyone was drinking and eating having a good time.

What's wrong you look a little down.

I can sense the guy who hurt me. The one you saved me from.

Yeah I sense him too. I can see him in fact, want me to claw his eyes out?

I don't want to disturb anyone's joyous spirit. For now just keep an eye on him.

"How about a speech from our favorite Ghoul Doctor!" Saphi's suggestion had everyone clapping and encouraging it. You looked around and no one seemed like no one was going to help you out of it. You stood and held your glass up.

"I believe we can all agree, that this last humanitarian mission, was exhausting both mentally and physically." Everyone nodded and grunted their agreements. "However I couldn't have asked for better people to help in it. You all stayed strong, and worked hard for the sake of others, and I believe as Marines that is our number one priority. So I would like to raise a glass to all of you. Without all of you, I don't think I would've been able to work to my fullest. So thank you all."

You raised your glass higher and bowed your head slightly. Everyone smiled and clapped. When you sat back down, Koby placed a hand on your thigh and gave you a squeeze. Helmeppo was crying and Grount just looked a little smug.

Four hours later and Grount had gotten stupid drunk. When you went off to dance with Koby and a few other officers, he and Helmeppo had started a drinking game along with a few giants, sage to say that they lost.

"They are down for the count! Hahaha!" Saphi was the champion and she was leaning against a handsome giant warrior who seemed to be enjoying her closeness.

"Y/N-San. Shall we head out? Saphi-San? Would you mind carrying them to their warship?"

"Of course Captain. Hehe."

You didn't understand what was going on, but Koby motioned for you to follow him, and Yoru soared over his head. When you were both out of sight, he carried you bridal style and lept through the air.

"Eeeeek!" You couldn't help the sound of surprise and nervousness that came out of your mouth.

"Hold tight Notte!"

"You've called me that before what does it even mean?"

"Beautiful night."

He smiled and kept on his leaping through the air, and you snuggled further into him.

When he landed you found yourself on the beach and he waited to set you down, when he did you found a picnic set up with pillows and blankets, candles, food and a radio.

"Koby?" He says you down on a rock and took off your shoes and guided you to his little set up.

"I wanted some alone time with you. Yoru, sent those Cipher Pol bastards away, and helped me set this up."

"Wait...you mean you can hear him too?!" He nodded and you were shocked, you thought only you could hear him.

Shocked me too, but he's been able to hear me from the very beginning.

You chuckled and hugged your lover. He held you close and smelled your hair.

"I thought we could watch the sunset together. We only have two more days of leave before we have to set out again. And it's going to even harder to be together."

"I love it Koby. Thank you."

After getting positioned in the pillows and the blankets covering you, you both just sat there and enjoyed each other's company.

"You gave a nice speech Y/N, everyone who was there sees you as you are."

"And how is that?"

"Kind, brave, dedicated, compassionate and willing to uphold her beliefs when it really matters. You may be a bit gloomy but I like that about you too. You're no nonsense and beautiful. I am a very lucky man."

You nuzzled into his chest.

"I love you Koby."

<Unknown POV>

How had that doctor figured out the disease. He'd worked hard on that it took him months to perfect it, and she figured it out in a few days? There weren't nearly as many deaths as he would've liked, and he didn't get a chance to go and see his handiwork. The giants kept up their guard the entire time. Not only that reinforcements came, one being Vice Admiral Garp. He was still scary strong.

"Don't worry about it we'll make it work next time. And next time they'll be too late. Zehahahahhaha!"
