Ruby felt her soul seemingly drop into her stomach.

How...?

How did Goodwitch know?

Sure, Ruby knew Glynda used Karma. Hell, she was well experienced in its use. She even knew Ozpin had used in it. And he was old, she could only imagine how powerful the old man was in his use of the mysterious magic.

She just wanted to know how Glynda knew. If Glynda knew, who says Ozpin didn't know as well. Who says someone else also didn't know?

She was so careful not to let anyone know. The only times she ever used it was the robbery with Roman, the initiation, and...

The spar with Cardin. Where he and she fought right in front of a goddamn audience.

God fuck all.

"Ruby?" Goodwitch's voice brought her out of her thoughts. She flinched at her name being called out, trying to play it cool.

"Hm?" She smiled.

"I was asking if you knew what Karma was?" Glynda repeated her question.

"Karma? Like the uh, what comes around goes around?" Ruby let out a nervous laugh, hoping she could ward off any suspicions of her.

"Well, yes, but actually no." Glynda was gripping her riding crop. She was taking a risk here, but judging from Ruby's reaction... she seemed to know something.

"O-oh? Then whaddabout that uh, religion of Karma, what was it, uh-"

"Ruby." Glynda places a hand on the redhead's shoulder. She could feel the younger girl tense up as if she was expecting some sort of attack.

It pulled, no tore at her heart, seeing the fear and anxiety in the girl's eyes. She didn't know if she was ashamed of her powers or afraid of them, but she was a teacher. And it was her job to help her students grow and become the best they can become.

"Ruby," Glynda's voice became soft, almost motherly. "I want you to know that there's nothing to be ashamed of. I'm your teacher, and while I know you may cause some trouble for me as do I, I want you to know there is nothing to be afraid of."

Glynda eyes suddenly glowed a cool blue, illuminating the dim room. Her beautiful green emeralds faded into a glamorous blue. Wisps of Karma burned like a small candle, and yet there was a coolness to the magic.

Ruby bit her lip, as she looked up to the Professor, her eyes no longer the silvers orbs they once were, but now a pair of glowing Azure.

"Yeah, I know what Karma is... she's a bitch, ain't she?" Ruby chuckled dryly.

Glynda gave a laugh as well. She raised a hand, her arm glowing. A pair of chairs glowed too before she brought them forward with a wave of her hand.

The teacher and the student both sat down, Glynda using her Karma to telekinetically bring some drinks.

"You're really skilled with your Karma," Ruby commented, admiring the grace Glynda put as she poured soda into a cup.

"Yes, well, when you're my age, and you're constantly using Karma, you begin to grow and learn to control it." Glynda poured some soda in a cup and offered it to Ruby.

"Thanks... how old are you?" Ruby took a sip from her glass, raising an eyebrow.

"I'm currently... don't change the subject." The professor gave a soft glare to the redhead.

Ruby let out a huff of air, amused at how Glynda dodged the question.

"So, what now?" Ruby peeped. "Are you going to report me to Ozpin? I'm assuming he already knows I have Karma. He's quite old and barely anything fazes him, I can only imagine how strong he is."

"Well, truth be told, both of us only had assumptions. But we were proved right as, during your match with Cardin Winchester, you showed a small glimpse of your Karma. Most people would have barely noticed it while those that did would have written it off." Glynda explained, pushing up her glasses.

"I was the one who decided to approach you with the subject, and he merely gave me approval. Only wanting to know what would happen."

Ruby nodded her head. Truth be told she had never seen anyone else with Karma other than her mother. Seeing Glynda, Ozpin, and Miss Sexy Legs use the Karma baffles her.

'Low encounter chance my ass.' Ruby internally grumbled, remembering her mother's warning.

"Ruby?" Glynda said her name, gaining her attention. She seemed to be nervous again as if she was afraid of what she would say next.

"Would you mind telling me who taught you Karma?"

Ruby blinked at the question. Her lip twitched, as her mind raced whether or not she should tell the professor. The blonde did say she would inform Ozpin of what happened, so she would have to be careful.

"My... mother taught me." She vaguely answered, hoping Glynda would get the hint.

"You're a mother? But Summer's-"

"Dead," Ruby interjected, her eyes changing from blue to red. Glynda looked shocked, not from how casual Ruby just said that, but at how Ruby held both colors of Karma. Which could only mean...

Ruby held her face as she let out a large sigh. "Yes, Summer Rose is... gone. And, well I did find someone else. Someone who I respect and admire enough to call my mother." Ruby brought her knees up, hugging them. The topic of her biological mother wasn't a tender subject, it's just she didn't know how to react to such a situation.

She still loved her mother, Summer, but it was so long ago that she barely remembered any memories of her. Well other than the last time she saw her.

"I-... I don't know how hard it must have been for you, Ruby." She placed a comforting hand on the girl's shoulder. "And, I won't say I'm sorry. Judging from how you behave I can only assume that would only irritate you."

Ruby gave a weak smirk. She looked up to the witch, her eyes no longer blue, back to their beautiful silver orbs.

"Thanks."

A comfortable silence hung over the two, the two no longer seeing one another as student and teacher, but as equals.

As friends.

"Could... could you..." Ruby pursed her lips trying to figure out how to say this.

"Could I what?"

"Could you keep me... Red Karma a secret from Ozpin?" Ruby wringer her fingers, fidgeting on the spot. "I don't want any more pressure on me, coupled with my eyes, which I know was one of the reasons Ozpin wanted me." She gave a deadpanned stare to Glynda who gave an awkward smile. "And my Karma, I don't want so much stress put on me."

Glynda blinked at the favor Ruby asked of her. She was supposed to report everything between her and Ruby. But...

Ruby knew of her eyes, so she must know of the legend of the Silver Eyed Warriors, something Ozpin knew little of himself. All that he knew along with herself was that the warriors were considered an enemy of Grimm and that they held incredible power.

So much that they could obliterate Grimm with a single glance.

Truly a force to be reckoned with.

And if Ruby knew of her eyes, well who knew what else she knew? Ozpin would do everything thing in his power to obtain that knowledge, without trying to make himself look like the villain.

And Ruby's Karma... dear Oum.

Karma was a... elusive power. It wasn't as abundant as Aura. No, it was even rarer than the most beautiful and largest diamond, as rare as a piece of the moon.

Karma was like a smoldering flame that would never die. Alone it was just that, embers of a dead fire, but someone with activated Karma was a flame. A raging fire.

The longer someone spent around someone with Karma, the more likely the former could activate their own Karma.

Like lighting a match to ignite a bonfire.

And soon, that person would activate their Karma, be it through enough exposure or through an extremely stressful situation, and how well you dealt with that stress.

Glynda only had a glimmer of a theory of why Karma wasn't as abundant as Aura, especially since Ozpin held that magic when he himself was someone else.

When he was Ozma.

Regardless, Ruby held Karma that was enough reason for both Ozpin and Salem to want her. But now... now she had both forms of Karma. She has only become a bigger target for herself. They would want her for the third form of Karma.

Purple Karma.

. . .

[I swear to God I need to find a better fucking name than just color coding it.]

Purple Karma. The form that allowed you to use both forms not only at once but to bypass their rules and laws and apply them as they wished.

Glynda could only shudder at the mere implications. Memories flashed through her mind as she remembers Incognito, and at how they used those Karmas. At how much power they had before, before...

Glynda shook her head. She looked down at Ruby who held a look of plea in her silver orbs. She didn't want such a fate for the girl, Silver eyes, Karma, Ozma, Salem, the Grimm Apostles, the Brother Gods, one person should not be forced to bear such great burdens.

Glynda wrapped her hands around the younger girl's own. She held them tightly as her emeralds stared into Ruby's silver orbs.

"Ruby, I swear on my life, soul, and Karma that I will not tell Ozpin of this. A young child such as yourself should not be subjected to such burdens."

Ruby eyes widened at Glynda's declaration. She really didn't expect Goodwitch to go through with her plea. It was at most a long shot, but Glynda was apparently willing to follow through.

"I-... thank you." Ruby leaned in for a hug, wrapping her arms around the professor.

Glynda tensed at the hug but returned the gesture.

~ ~ ~

Back at the dorms, where Yang was watching Cookie, as Ruby asked of her was instead a massive mess. Yang was currently fighting for her life. She was perched on top her bed, her guard so damn high, she could see Monty Oum in heaven.

She didn't have her weapons, as they were in the center of the room. But she knew it was a trap, a lure. She knew that the moment she was exposed the enemy would attack.

At the moment all she had were two knives Ruby and Blake had stashed under their pillows. She knew Ruby loved weapons, and she was paranoid or something, but she had no idea why Blake had a knife under her pillow too.

Something moved across the room, too fast for Yang to even see it. All she saw was a shadow zooming across the floor.

Yang's handle trembled, throw her against hundred of Grimm with no Aura and weapons, and she'd fight tooth and nail. She fears no Grimm, no man.

But this thing...

This thing is no man...

And it scared the fuck out of her.

Suddenly the door to the dorm opened, and Blake walked in.

"Hey, Yang do you wanna-" a knife was shot at the hidden Faunus, instinct screamed at her to duck. The knife stabbed into the wall, missing Blake's head by just a few inches.

"What the hell?!" Blake shrieked as she pulled out Gambol Shroud.

"Blake!" Yang shouted as she jumped off her bed. She ran over to the black haired beauty, panic and fear present in her eyes.

"Yang?! What the hell was that?! Why'd you almost hit me?! Why is the room a giant mess?!" Blake's questions were ignored as the blonde grabbed her weapons. Yang did not want to waste this chance.

"There's an enemy in this room!" Yang loaded in two shells into Ole' Reliable. She put on her brackets, the jewelry transforming into Ember Celica before compacting.

"An enemy? What do you mean?" Blake's guard was immediately up, her Desert Eagles out and ready.

"Yes! I don't know where she went nor do I know what she wants, all I know is that it's a threat." Yang went for Dragkov but pauses. She couldn't swing that massive thing in here, even if she could that thing would be far too fast for her to kill it.

"She? Yang, who is it? Why are they here?" Yang was panicking, and that was making Blake u settled. Yang was almost always confident, sometimes too confident, but she almost never showed fear.

Whoever this was, they must be a real threat if they had Yang all riled up. She could see several scratches on Yang's body, her clothes were torn in some parts, and whatever exposed skin she had was covered in scratches.

Then right behind them, a sound was heard that made Yang's face pale in color.

Meow.

The two turned around to see a calico cat sitting in the center of the floor. It sat there with an innocent look in its eyes.

Blake blinked her eyes owlishly as the cat did the same.

"Why is there a cat here?" She asked. She turned to Yang but instead saw her aiming her sawed off at the cat.

"Yang!" She moves the shotgun's barrel to the window, where the bullets shot outside, causing minimal damage.

"Blake! What the hell?! It was right there!" Yang opened her sawed off and slapped in two more shells.

"Me?! What the hell are you doing?! Why are you shooting at a cat?!" She swore she was the only sane one on this team.

"That's the enemy! That the damn monster trying to kill me!" A shadow moved in Yang's peripheral vision and immediately she blasted at the shadow. But Blake slapped her gun, making her miss the demon.

"Yang! It a fucking cat! You are a trained huntsman capable of killing Grimm! How the hell is it going to kill you?" Blake put her pistols away. She walked towards the cat, who was hiding under the bed.

"Blake no! That thing is a demon!" Yang didn't want to lose her partner!

"Yang, I swear to Oum, if you don't put that gun away, I'm going to report you to Goodwitch. I should be seeing as you already totaled our room." Blake turned back to the cat.

She gave a warm smile to the cat, her heritage making her sympathetic towards the feline. She slowly offered her hand, and a clicking noise hoping to draw out the cat.

"Here kitty, kitty, kitty. How did it get in here anyway?" She made a kissing sound.

"Its name is Cookie, and she belongs to Ruby apparently. I didn't even know she had a pet, I was supposed to watch her." Yang still had her hand on her shotgun, her finger twitching.

"I didn't know Ruby was a cat person. Here kitty, kitty, kitty." Slowly the cat walked out from under the bed, it's eyes staring at Blake.

"Yeah, well I'm more of a dog person, but I like cats too." Yang shrugged, not noticing Blake's eyes narrowing at her.

Cookie finally walked out from under the bed, her nose sniffing Blake's hand. The hidden Faunus merely smiled as she stroked the cat, though she didn't purr as most do.

"I still don't see how you made such a mess because of this cat." Blake picked up the cat, stroking her more, but she still didn't purr.

"I'm telling you, that ain't no cat. The damn thing was everywhere and nowhere. One second it's crawlin' on the walls the next it's under the bed. Starin' at me with them big ole' eyes." Yang gestured to her body, the scratches still fresh on her body.

"Those damn razors just cut through my Aura like it wasn't even there." Her body began healing the scratches, they would scar lightly, but those would fade as well if she applied Aura daily.

"Uh huh, whatever you say." Blake deadpanned as she stared at Yang. Cookie was also looking at Yang with a smug ass smile on its face.

Yang noticed the look and growled. Blake looked down at Cookie, but all she saw was an innocent looking cat.

"She was smiling at me!" Ya g tried to defend herself when Blake gave her a glare.

"Yang, that's enough. It wasn't funny before and it isn't funny now. I'm serious about reporting you to Goodwitch." Blake threatened.

Yang clenched her hands, wanting to defend herself, but she knew that she'd only look like the bad guy. All while that damn cat would get away with everything.

"Fine." Yang put away Ole' Reliable as Ember Celica compacted. She began to clean up the room, trying to ignore the taunting looks of Cookie.

Blake also began cleaning up the room, seeing as her bed also got totaled. She started picking up books strewn about the room and putting them back on the bookshelf.

She started putting them away until a book fell out from the shelves.

"Hm? What's this?" She picked up the red book, noticing the emblem of a burning rose on the cover. She immediately recognized it as the book Ruby would write in whenever she woke up really early.

...

It wouldn't hurt to peek inside, would it?

She tried to open the journal, but the locket on the side kept her from opening it. Cookie hopped up on the shelf, noticing Blake wielding Ruby's journal. She meowed at the hidden Faunus, trying to distract her.

Blake looked up to see Cookie meowing at her. The cat pawed at the journal, trying to tell her to leave it alone, but Blake took it as a curiosity.

"Shhh," Blake pet the cat on the head, before trying to open it again.

"Whatcha got there?" Yang suddenly butts her head over Blake's shoulder spooking her. Blake tried to hide the journey, but Yang snagged it from her hands.

"Yoink! What's this? A diary? Ooooooo~! Does Blake have a secret crush~?" Yang tried to open the book, but the lock prevented her. "Hey, what gives?"

"Yang! Give it back! It's not mine, it's-!" Blake shit her mouth. She didn't know how Yang would react if she knew Blake was trying to snoop in on Ruby's thoughts.

"If it's not yours then, who is it? Hm?" Yang took a closer look at the journal. Her cocky smile was wiped clean when she saw the emblem on the cover.

"Blake." Her tone was serious.

Shit.

"Where did you get this from?" Yang turned to the black haired girl, all sense of humor was gone. Blake could feel a sense of heat emanating from the blonde, her eyes flickering from lavender to red everyone and then.

"Yang, I swear I didn't know, I mean, I knew it was Ruby's but-"

"Wait, wait, wait!" Yang cut her off, waving her hands. "This is Ruby's?"

"Uh, yeah."

"I didn't know Ruby had a diary." Yang looked at the cover, her eyes staring at the emblem.

"I thought you knew? Wait, so then why'd you get all mad?"

Yang purses her lips, her eyes were still staring at the emblem.

"I suppose it makes sense..." she mumbled, seemingly in her own world.

"Yang?"

"Huh?" The blonde raised her head, remembering Blake was there.

"You okay?" Worry was in Blake yellow eyes.

"Yeah, yeah. Just thinking... what were you saying?"

"Um, I asked why'd you got all mad? I thought you were mad cause I was trying to go through your sister's journal." Blake explained.

"Oh no, to be honest, I didn't even know Ruby had a diary." Yang gave a small chuckle.

"Then why'd you get mad?" Blake asked for the third fucking time.

Yang took a breath of air in before letting out a sigh. She grabbed a seat before flopping down on it. She fiddled with the boom, pursing her lips. A look of sadness-, no, sentimentality could be seen in her eyes.

"I never knew my mom," Yang started. "She left me not even a day after I was born. And so, it was just me and my dad, my uh, biological dad."

Blake sat down on her bed, listening intently.

"I don't know why she left, or why she had me if she didn't want me, but the fact was, she wasn't in my life."

"Dad was... I dunno, he really didn't talk about. Makes sense, your first love abandoning you with a child after being married for five years. But uh, we never really talked about it."

"Then came along Summer Rose. She was there along with my other dad Qrow, they helped him get on his feet. Helping him take care of him and me."

"She was like the mother I never had, cause well I didn't have one." Yang smiled at the memory. "Then sometime later, Summer and Tai hooked up. And well, two years later out came Ruby."

"Wait," Blake interjected. "So Ruby isn't your..."

"She's my, uh, half-sister. Taiyang's our biological dad." Yang explained.

"Ah, that makes a lot more sense."

"So, uh..." the brawler pursed her lips. "Mom, Summer by the way, well... what's there to say. She was a mother to both me and Ruby. She played with us, fought the monsters of the night, made us cookies, and," Yang huffed happily. "Well she was the perfect mother, a super mom is what we called her."

Then Yang's smile faded as a dark memory took place. "Then, sometime later, I think I was seven and Ruby was five, mom went off on some super big mission with dad and Qrow. They left us with a babysitter."

"After what felt like months, but was just a few weeks, they came back. Everyone but, mom." Yang's voice cracked, her eyes tearing up.

Blake's eyes widened as she understood what happened.

"Ruby was too young to understand what was going on. Only that she knew Summer wasn't coming back."

"Things changed... and everyone wasn't doing great. Dad started drinking, and Qrow, well he always drank, but he drank himself enough to go to the hospital every now and then."

"Sooner or later, everyone managed to move on from her death, dad and Qrow both got married, and well, the rest is history."

"The thing is... you know how every Huntsman has an emblem?" Blake nodded. "Well, Summer's emblem was a burning rose, just like this one." She pointed to the cover of the book.

"I thought this book was somehow related to my mom, and well, you can understand why I got pissed."

"Yang, I..." Blake didn't know what to say.

"It's okay, that was ages ago and well, while it still hurts, I'm just glad mom died doing what she loved."

Blake stayed silent as she walked up to the blonde and wrapped her arms around her. Yang returned the gesture, leaning her head into the dark-haired girl's shoulder.

"Yang, I'm sorry you had to go through that. And I know I may not know what it's like, but I'm here for you." Blake rubbed the brawler's back, giving her a sense of comfort.

"Heh, thanks, Blakey."

"I suppose that's why Ruby's so moody." Blake let's go of the blonde.

Yang's eyes widen as she pursed her lips.

"What?" Blake brow furrowed.

"Look Blake, I-... I really don't want to talk about it, but I and my family did some stuff to Ruby. Stuff I really regret and I can never forgive myself for doing." Her breathing seemed to quicken.

"Yang." Blake grabbed the blonde's head, she pressed her forehead on Yang's. "I won't pry into what you did, that is between you and your sister." She smiled at her, her yellow eyes staring into Yang's lavender.

"I'm sure that Ruby can forgive you for what you've done. If you truly regret what you have done, then Ruby should be able to see that."

Yang blinked at Blake statement. It was true that she regrets what she did, but she didn't know if Ruby would forgive her. Guess she'd have to keep trying.

"Thanks, Blake. I needed that." Yang gave the hidden Faunus another hug, this one being one of her infamous, bone-crushing, bear hugs.

"No... problem..." Blake caroled put as she slowly suffocated.

Yang let her go, dropping her. The two smiled at one another until Cookie meowed at them.

They turned to see Cookie had somehow stolen the journal from Yang's clutches, and now held the book in her mouth.

"Grrrr, damn cat! That doesn't belong to you!" Yang stomped over to the feline.

"Yang," Blake's voice called her. "Don't do anything rash!"

Yang pauses her fist which was reeled back. She let out a sigh, before trying the more.. 'non-violent' choice.

Putting in a false awkward smile, Yang held out her hand, reaching for the book.

"Here kitty, kitty, kitty~. Nice kitty. Give me the book before I skin you for a hat~." Yang 'nicely' asked as she reached for the book.

But Cookie just hissed at the brawler, before clawing at her hand.

Yang cursed out loud, yanking back her hand.

"Oum damn it! Okay, I tried the nice way!" Ember Celica transformed as Yang reeled back a fist.

"Yang!" Blake smacked the blonde in the head.

"Ow! Blake! It won't give me the damn book! Ruby's gonna be pissed if she knows we even touched her book!"

"And blasting the cat away won't destroy the book itself?" Blake raises a brow at the blonde.

"..." the brawler pursed her lips, before lowering her fists. "Okay! Fine! Then how would you do it?!"

"Like this." Blake approaches the cat, who growled. "Hey, there girl. It's okay," Blake smiles as she reached her hand for the book. "I know, the big bad mean girl won't hurt you. Just give me the book so I can put it back? That way we all win-"

Blake was cut off as the cat lunges at Blake's head and began scratching away at the motherfucker.

"Oh my fucking god! Get the hell off of me, you fucking bitch!" Blake screamed as she tried to rip off Cookie.

Yang was right! This fucker's claw we're cutting right through her Aura! How the fuck?!

"Blake! Don't worry!" Yang reeled back a fist and threw it forward.

Only for Cookie to leap away, and the fist to smack right into Blake's face.

"Agh, fuck!" Blake held her nose, luckily her Aura was up, but damn did Yang pack a punch.

"Oh! Sorry, Blake! Are you okay?" Yang tried to comfort her teammate.

"Forget me! Where the hell is that damn thing?!" She pulled out Gambol Shroud, her face was full of scratches. Somehow through luck, Blake's now was unharmed.

Cookie meowed at the two girls, she was perched right on top Yang's bed. A smug smile on the cat's face.

"You bastard! I trusted you! And yet you played me!" Blake aimed Gambol Shroud at the cat, her finger right on the trigger.

"Like the cheep kazoo, you are. " Cookie meowed out.

Even if the two couldn't understand what Cookie actually said, they knew an insult when they heard one.

"You motherfucker!" Yang pulled out Ole' Reliable and fired out two shells.

Cookie leaped away, dodging the bullets as they destroyed the bedpost.

She meowed at the two, before dodging the rain of bullets from Blake.

"Hold still!" Blake's weapon transformed into its chain scythe configuration. She spans it with the ribbon before throwing it at the cat.

But Cookie crawled under the bed, the scythe cutting off just a few hairs.

Yang charges forward and threw off the bed. They both aimed their guns at the cat, but she wasn't there.

"Huh?! Where'd she-?" A bar fell upon the blonde's head, shattering against Aura. But still, it hurt.

Cookie meowed in amusement, somehow she had gotten on top of the bookshelf.

Only for Blake to punt her out the window like a football.

"Goddamn fucking cat." She huffed out.

"You and me both." Yang flopped down on the ground, for a cat she really took them both for a run. Now that it's gone, they can take a small break and clean up before Nora and Ruby got back...

"Holy goddamn shit!" Yang jolted up into her feet.

"What?! Is it back?!" Blake jumped up, her desert eagles out.

"No! Ruby!" Shit, this was bad!

"What about her?" Blake didn't want any more trouble, she just wanted to sleep.

"She's gonna be fucking pissed! She gonna kill us both when she knows we killed her cat!" Yang began pacing around the room. No! She ruined her only chance at shouting Ruby she cared!

"So what? We just tell her what happened." Blake jumped when Yang grabbed her shoulders. Her lavender eyes widen full of panic.

"You don't understand! I told you did some bad shit, and taking care of Ruby's demonic cat was the only chance I had to show her I regret what I did!" Yang actually made a point there.

"Not only that! But you think she'll believe that her cat, the only thing she treats like a baby, went all psycho on us?! Even you didn't believe that!" Another good point.

"Oh shit," Blake finally realized the implications. She got out of Yang's grasp and zoomed over to the shattered wind.

She stared down the several feet of building and saw the dead corpse of Cookie all the way down. She could see red, most likely blood splattered. There were a few people surrounding the cat, looking back up the building.

"M-maybe we can replace it?!" Blake suggested. "At least so we can get rid of the real one?"

"Yeah! That's a great idea!" Yang smiled. It was perfect! Ruby was still out, so they could go out and get rid of the old cat, and buy another one.

"Right, So you distract Ruby and Nora, while I bury the cat and get another one from town! Got it!"

"Got it!" The two high fives before they went to set out their plan.

Only for the door to open, revealing Ruby and Nora talking to one another.

"-And Ren was all like 'Nora, you need to lessen your pancake intake.', and I was all like 'and you need to liven up a bit Renny!'. Nora explained the story.

Ruby laughed at the expression Nora made trying to mimic Ren. It was funny.

"Oh! Hey guys! What's with the faces?" Nora notices the two standing in the room with dread in their faces.

"Yeesh, what's wrong? It looks like you guys just kill someone." Ruby walked past the two. "Whoa, what the hell happen here?"

"It looks like a tornado passed through here!" Nora comments, looking around the room.

"Da, bah, duhhhhh... well you see-" Yang started but was cut off by a scream.

"Oh my gosh! Someone spill strawberry jam on the ground level!" Nora shouts as she looks out the window.

Ruby walks over to the redhead, but Blake blocks her off.

"Hey, Ruby, did you know that cats always land on their feet?" Blake smiles but on the inside she killing herself thousand times over.

"Blake, what the fuck?!" Yang mouths silently at the hidden Faunus.

Ruby merely perks an eyebrow, before shoving past the ninja. She looks down the window and the two girls clench their uteruses.

"Oh yeah, someone did spill strawberry jam." Ruby states.

Both Blake and Yang rush over to the window, shoving away the two redheads. They look out the window to see that someone had indeed dropped several jars of strawberry jam.

Both girls let out sighs as they back away from the window.

"The hell is your guy's problem?" Ruby huffs in annoyance as Nora peeks out the window again.

"Gasp! Is that a dead animal's body?!" She literally says 'gasp' as she points out the window.

The Bumblebee duo both rush over to the window, shoving the ginger out the way to see a dead squirrel over by a tree. A Raven was picking away at its corpse.

They both let out a sigh of relief, backing away from the window.

"Gasp! Is that a-" Nora is cut off as Yang strangles her from behind.

"Okay, what is your guys' problem?! Really?!" Ruby furrows her brow, annoyance present in her frown. (Heh, that rhymed.) "Yang quit trying to snap Nora's neck!"

Yang let go of the Valkyrie, Nora gasping for air. Nora frowned at Yang who walked towards Ruby, before she lunges at the blonde, preparing to put her in a chokehold too.

"Nora," Ruby voiced, freezing Nora. She turned back to the black and yellow duo. "Now, is there something you two wanna tell me?" She perked a brow, tapping her foot.

"Uh, well..." Yang trailed off.

"Um, you see Ruby..." Blake trailed off too.

"Wait a minute. Where's Cookie?" Ruby looked around the room searching for her cat, but couldn't find her.

"Who's Cookie?" Nora asked.

"That's the thing..." Blake comment caught the redhead's attention.

"I'm only going to say this once." Ruby's voice held venom as she glared down the two girls. "Where. Is. Cookie?"

"She's-"

Meow.

Everyone turned to the source of the meowing. And low and behold, sitting there in the center of the floor was the Cookie the calico cat in all of her famed glory.

"Cookie!" Ruby zoomed over to the cat, scooping her up into her arms. "Oh, my sweet baby! Did you miss me, my little kitty~?" Ruby spoke to her cat in a baby voice.

"Oh my gosh!" Nora zipped over to the redhead. "You have a kitty!" Her eyes were wide in awe.

"Yes, I do. And she's a cute kitty isn't she~? Yes, you are~! You're my baby~!" Ruby scratched the cat's chin, earning a purr from her.

"Awww look at her purr! Can I hold her?" Nora smiles at the cuteness.

"Of course. Here." Ruby gave the cat to her friend. "She doesn't do well with strangers, but if you scratch behind her ear, she'll melt like a cream."

Nora did as instructed as gasped as the cat purred.

While the two redheads awe the cat like it was the son of god or something, the Bumblebee duo could only gape in shock as they watched the cat they killed purr in comfort in front of them.

How was it alive?! They saw the fucker's corpse right in the floor! Hell, they knew cats landed on their feet, but no cat should be able to survive a five-story fall!

Apparently Ruby noticed the two's dumbass looks as she raised a brow at them.

"The hell is wrong with you two?" She snapped at them.

Yang shook her head before she shook Blake as well.

"Oh! It's just, well uh, I didn't know you had a cat!" Blake answered, smiling awkwardly.

"What? You jealous or something? Yeah, I have a cat. So what, it's not like I can leave her with someone. Sides' you guys haven't noticed her for this long, no one else will."

She turned to the blonde who gave a nervous smile. "And you, what are gaping at?"

"Uh, well-"

"Yeah, I don't care." Ruby gestures to the huge mess in the room. "This wasn't like this before, so either one or both of you need to clean this up before I report the both of you to Goodwitch."

"Bah, wuh-, no!" Yang protested. "It's not our fault! It's-" Blake elbowed her in the rib. "I mean..."

"What? Is there something I should know? You guys didn't make this mess trying to... say kill something?" Ruby made an expectant face.

"Yes!" Yang elbowed Blake in the run this time. "Ow! I mean, no, we well, uh, there were mice! Yeah, mice and..."

"Blakey here doesn't like mice, so uh she tried to kill them and-" Yang added to their web of lies.

"Yeah, and Yang helped too!" Blake was not cleaning up this mess on her own. This was all Yang's fault!

"Yeah! I did, and we got a bit carried away!" Ya g finished, smiling at Ruby.

Ruby just gave both girls a deadpanned stare, knowing that their story was complete bullshit.

"I know," Ruby began, "That's bullshit, but I believe it." She turned held Nora's hand, who was still holding Cookie, before leaving the dorm.

"I don't care what happened, I just want this room cleaned before tomorrow night. We're sleeping in JWPR's(Jupiter) room." She closed the door leaving the duo.

But, right before Ruby closed the door completely, the two could see the cat giving them a smug ass look, a pair of shades on their eyes.

"..." the two were left alone in a destroyed room.

"... I swear to Monty Oum, I'll fucking kill that cat." Yang flexed her hands in rage, her eyes a tinge of red.

"You and me both." Blake sheath Gambol Shroud, her eyes slits.

~ ~ ~

"So!" Nora looked to the Reaper. "We're bunking with JWPR?" Cookie leaped from Nora's arm and onto Ruby's shoulder.

"I'm bunking with JWPR(Jupiter), you practically live in their room because of Ren." Ruby pulled out Nora's scroll.

"I don't know what you're talking about!" Nora defense was weak as Ruby unlocked the door. "Uh, well, I bet Pyrrha gave you to access too!"

"Maybe~." Ruby opened the door and walked in.

"Nora, I told you. You cannot sleep in our room!" Weiss' voice was heard.

"You can't keep me from my Renny! No valley's too low! No mountain's too high!" Nora declared.

"Ugh, Ren tell her she can't sleep here!" Weiss turned to the green Sasuke.

Without looking up from his book, Ren spoke. "Nora you can't sleep here."

"You're not the boss of me!" Nora leaped onto the green ninja's bed.

"Sorry boss, I tried," Ren answered as Nora snuggled up to his side.

Weiss just groaned at the two's stubbornness.

"Quite a handful aren't they?" Ruby walked up to her 'sister-in-arms' a warm smile on her face.

"Ruby?"

"Who else? Actually, don't answer that." Ruby added seeing Weiss about to say something.

"What are you doing here? I thought you were looking for Pyrrha?" Weiss crosses her arms.

"I was, but apparently something happened to my Semblance and I happen to receive the wrath of Glynda the Witch as people call her nowadays."

"Semblance? What happen?" Weiss was intrigued, she heard Professor Goodwitch's lecture on Semblances evolving, so that got her thinking.

"Hm? Oh, well the funny thing is uh, I was zooming through the halls with my Semblance and, uh..."

A flashback flew through Ruby's head, her embarrassingly bouncing through the halls of Beacon.

"Cardin, still salty over my victory over him, had placed his foot in my path. I tripped over his foot as I ended up bouncing through the halls of Beacon like a rubber ball." She lied, no one needed to know what actually happened.

"You... bounced?" Weiss repeated, she tried to imagine the scenario, but all she could make was a fat, round Ruby bouncing around like a kickball.

"Do you get what I'm saying?"

"Yeah! I think I do!" The Big Ball Ruby scenario was still, wait for it, bouncing around in her head. (Get it? Cause it's a ball that bounces? ...I'm hilarious.)

"Well after the damage I caused, Glynda got my butt and dragged me away." Ruby internally sighed, glad her lie was bought. "I thought She would have brought me to her office, but instead she took me to the forges."

"The forges?" Nora pokes her head from a blanket. "I've never heard of that."

"I as well, I have never heard of this place."

"Well long story short, me and Ozpin made a deal that I'd get to use the forges Beacon has, apparently only after the second semester the first years are allowed to used the forges," Ruby explained.

"You made a deal with Ozpin? How come you got to use them." Weiss made her opinion known.

"That's not important," Ruby slapped her question like a ball(get it-? Okay, I'll stop). "So after presenting me the forges, we spoke about my Semblance."

After the moment involving Ruby's Karma had passed, Glynda had brought up the main reason she brought Ruby.

"Ruby," she called out the redhead's name.

"What's up, Glynda?" Ruby rummaged through the cabinets and shelves holding the tools and equipment. The stuff they had here was of much higher quality than what she would use.

She would still have to take someone with her to get her weapons and equipment from her basement. Hm, who could she pick...?

"It's Goodwitch to you Miss Rose," Glynda's tone had returned to her professional and strict persona. "And don't think I've forgotten about your incident involving the hallways."

"Wha-?!" Ruby banged her head in a shelf she was under. She groaned holding the bump on her head.

"Whadda ya mean? I've already said it wasn't my fault!"

"All you've stated was that a ghost made your trip, followed by another excuse that a magical presence had thrown you across the halls." Glynda pushed up her glasses giving Ruby a deadpanned stare.

"Eh heh heh, uh well... now that we're alone maybe I can give you a proper explanation?" Ruby offered, hoping Glynda would give her the chance.

"Well, I suppose I can give you the chance, but no more stories." The blonde huffed. Her eyes glowed blue as she made the redhead sit down on a chair.

"So, uh, well... I was searching for Pyrrha because I haven't seen her this morning. Yang said she had seen her with team CRDL(Cardinal), and that alone had rung many bells."

"So I zoomed through the halls searching for Pyrrha, hoping I could get an explanation. I was using my Semblance to speed through the halls, and well someone got in my way and I jumped over them."

Ruby did a gesture, her hand soaring over her other hand.

"Unfortunately, instead of simply jumping, I soared through the air like a paper airplane. And I couldn't stop myself from crashing into the wall on the turn."

"I crashed into the wall and instead of flopping like a wet fish, I Uh... bounced."

Glynda blinked at Ruby's story. "You... bounced." She repeated.

"Yeah, I know it sounds hard to believe, but it's true! Like I-, I dunno what happened but one second in on the wall the next I'm bouncing through the halls like a ball!" Ruby flailed her hands.

"I couldn't even stop, I just kept moving on bouncing off this wall, bounce off that wall, oh, don't forget the ceiling!"

Ruby pressed her hands into her face, dragging them down.

"And, I dunno if I ran out of momentum or if my Aura decided to just become normal again, but the last time I bounced, it had less energy? I dunno, but I ended up bouncing across the floor and onto my face like a bunch of times."

Ruby looked up to the professor's face, seeing her expression was neutral.

"You don't believe me... it's the truth! Honest!" Ruby blurted, but Glynda didn't seem to believe her.

"I believe you." Glynda stayed, surprising Ruby.

"You do?"

"Yes Miss Rose, I do. People often try their best to lie or tell half-truths and it shows. But you can really tell when someone actually tells the truth." Glynda explained, smiling at Ruby's expression.

"Also I just used my Karma," she admitted. She noticed Ruby's confusion and proceeded to explain. "You see Ruby when someone Blue Karma reaches a certain level, they are able to sense one's thoughts."

Ruby blinked at the information before she scrambled around and covered her head.

"Whoa, whoa, whoa! You can read my mind?!" She did NOT want anyone going through her mind.

Glynda merely giggled at Ruby's reaction. Everyone always reacted like that, wanting their privacy as much as anyone would.

"Not exactly. See Blue Karma revolves around being connected with your surroundings right?"

"Yeah, to be one and equal with your environment. That's the motto for Blue Karma." Ruby nodded.

"Well, people are part of those surroundings, people is what Blue Karma exists for. Red to gain inner peace, Blue to gain outer peace." Glynda smiled, she always enjoyed speaking about Karma. She never got many chances to talk about Karma considering it's supposed to be a secret practice. Ozpin was always secretive about his Karma, Qrow and Taiyang are bastards, and well the list goes on and on.

"I can sense not your thoughts, but rather what you are feeling. Your thoughts are connected to your emotions and well, I can vaguely sense your thoughts."

"Is that how you know always seem to know how a student is cheating on a test?"

"The point is, something happened with your Aura." She brushed aside the topic of Karma for now.

"Whadda ya think happened?" Ruby looks down at her hands, she surges her Aura in her hands, watching the soul energy reflect against the light. Like a pool of clean water reflecting light.

"Hmmm, you're Semblance could have evolved," Glynda suggested.

"Evolved?" Ruby parroted back.

"Yes, were you not in my class when I gave that lecture?" Glynda raised a brow.

"Uhhh, I dunno. If it was after the fight with Cardin, then I must have been sleeping cause that fight took a bit more than I guaranteed." Ruby sheepishly admitted.

The teacher merely sighed, blowing a strand of hair from her face. "To give you a crash course, our Semblances can evolve when put through enough training and/or stress. You're Semblance is speed correct?"

"Actually, I can turn my body into a cloud of rose petals, when I do I just zoom around. I theorized that since I have increasingly less mass, there's less resist, both in gravity and air.' Ruby oh so smartly stated. "Its actually a lot more helpful than just zooming around like a bullet. since I have no actual solid body, most attacks can phase right through me, such as bullets and physical attacks."

"And what of Auric attacks?" Glynda asked she was listening intently to Ruby's explanation of her Semblance. There were very, very, little Semblances that actually alter the body's physical state. Most Semblances either boosted one's ability or could produce some ability such as Pyrrha's polarity or Weiss' hereditary Glyphs.

No doubt a leftover memory from Summer.

"Auric attacks? I don't know what that is." Ruby face held visible confusion.

"You don't know what Auric Imbuing is?" Ruby's face held the answer. "I suppose it would make sense, that's a subject we don't teach until the second year." Glynda pushed up her glasses preparing a small quick lecture.

"Auric imbuing is an age-old art of Aura where the user imbues their body with a concentrated amount of Aura. Enough so that they show considerable results. Huntsmen normally do this unconsciously, that's how we are able to perform feat no normal civilians can."

"Runnings faster than the human eye can see, tracking bullets and projectiles, blocking said projectiles despite their speeds, leaping incredible heights, surviving from fall from said heights, and should one train their Aura the become something much more than a man."

An expression finds itself on Glynda's face. Ruby couldn't tell what she was feeling, the most she could perceive sentimentally, along with a sense of... hatred. Unknowingly Glynda's eyes glow with an intense blue, almost burning like a flame.

Ruby then notices items around the workshop being shaking. Tools and smaller things shake in place, smaller objects slowly rise into the air, a tint of blue surrounding them. The air begins to fell heavier, as it glows blue as well. That same sensation Ruby couldn't conceive drown the area, a bittersweet feeling.

"Glynda?" Ruby voices out her concern. Her voice is enough to snap Glynda back to reality as everything just returns to normal with an abnormal abruptness. Objects fall back into place as the equipment stops shaking. The nearly inconceivable tint of blue disappears from the air as that sensation fades.

"Hm? Oh! I'm terribly sorry Ruby." Glynda apologizes as she uses her telekinetic Semblance to put everything back into place. "I'm sorry, it's just sometimes I get caught up in my own world, and well everything just simply fades away."

"It's... fine." Ruby didn't want to pry, it seemed like Glynda held some form of PTSD, and it was connected to her Karma. That was incredibly dangerous.

"What were we talking about?" Glynda recovered herself. No, she wouldn't pry, even if she did benefit from it, it would merely be hypocrisy if Ruby pried into Glynda's personal life. Especially if she is someone who shuts everyone out too.

"Um, we were talking about my Semblance." Ruby hoped she wouldn't set the woman off again.

"... Right, so as I was saying," Ruby could see Glynda clench her hand, her veins were bulging out. "I have a theory that your Semblance has evolved into a new stage."

"Evolved?"

"Yes, one's Semblance is connected to their soul, their Aura. With enough training one's Semblance can evolve into new possibilities. Judging from what you've explained, I can only assume you developed some form of... calling it elasticity wouldn't be the correct term, but I suppose bounciness to be blunt."

"Bounciness?" Ruby mumbled to herself. How the hell did she get bounciness from being able to turn into rose petals and zip around?

"Yes, it is quite peculiar? Though the perhaps springiness would be a better term. You would have to perform more tests to see. Is this permanent or a onetime thing?"

"I dunno, but until then I'll refrain from using my Semblance until I'm in a more controlled environment." Ruby flexed her fingers.

"Yes, that would be a wise decision. We wouldn't want to cause more property damage now would we Miss Rose?" Glynda raised a brow.

"Hey, I thought I already told you it wasn't my fault!" Ruby puffed her cheeks cutely when Glynda just laughed at her.

~ ~ ~

Ruby finished her story to the three listenings in. Of course, she had left out the parts where she and Glynda talked about Karma, along with some other stuff.

"So your Semblance evolved into giving you bounciness?" Weiss tilted her head, the idea of Big Ball Ruby was still rolling around in her head. (Get it-, *gets shot*).

"Yeah it's still confusing, but I'll give it a test tomorrow." Ruby scratched the back of her head.

"Oh! can you show it to us now?!" Nora grinned, she could instead of imagining a Big Ball Ruby like Weiss, she could only imagine other things like how she could use it to crush her opponents.

"Wha-? No, you dolt! Didn't you just hear what she said?!" Weiss immediately crushed the idea. "We need a more controlled environment before we even test her Semblance!" Ruby was in the background looking at her hand. She activated her Semblance on her hand only, rose petals began pouring out from nowhere as her hand vibrated intensely.

"We don't know what could happen!" Weiss continued to rant. "She could destroy the dorm, or someone could get hurt! Or explode even!" Ruby waved her hand around, rose petals still emanating from her. She tilted her head, before slapping her hand against a wall. Her hand immediately bounced back and smacked her right in the face.

"How about this? We gather both teams tomorrow so that we can test out every single property of Ruby's Semblence." Ruby growled at her hand, she raised another hand and punched the still vibrating hand only for her normal hand to bounce back and punch her.

"Oo! Oo!" Nora raised her hand.

Weiss resisted a sigh and called out the ginger like a teacher would on a student. "Yes, Nora?"

Ruby was still in the background. She growled once more, before slamming both hands together only for both of them to bounce off each other. The force and momentum making her fall right on her ass.

"Will I be able to blow up something?" Nora grinned, blowing up something was always fun.

Ruby stood up and, in an act of frustration, grabbed her vibrating hand. She had hoped she could make the potential energy stop, but somehow that energy traveled throughout her body, making her vibrate completely.

"Yes, Nora you can blow up something." Weiss agreed, making the redhead cheer in excitement. "As long as it doesn't cause too much damage!"

Ruby's vibrating being made her felt like she was going to throw up, so she made a step towards the bathroom, but instead somehow shot forward like a bullet. She zoomed past the three students and crashed right through the bathroom door.

"Hey! How come she's starting already?!" Nora whined.

"Ruby?! I thought we agreed on tomorrow?!" Weiss coughed as the dust settled down.

"I see birdies~..." Ruby groaned out before she collapsed.

Ozpin stood in his tower, over watching the entire campus. In his hand was his ever-present mug of endless coffee. It made everyone wonder who drank more coffee, him or Oobleck?

'Obviously Oobleck.' Ozpin thought to himself taking a sip from his mug. 'That man zooms around like a child on a sugar rush. I don't know why everyone says I have an addiction.' he took another fucking sip.

The elevator to his office dinged, signaling someone had arrived. The doors open to reveal Glynda in all of her secretary beauty.

"Ah, Glynda. To what do I owe the pleasure of this night's meeting?" ozpin greeted taking another sip from his mug.

"I'm just here to inform you that I've shown Ruby Rose of her workshop as agreed to the negotiations," Glynda stated typing away at her scroll.

"And the Dust Theory classes?"

"Taken care of, I've given her the schedule." Glynda finished typing on her scroll and looked up at the headmaster.

"Is that all?"

Glynda took a moment of hesitation, before answering.

"Ruby has admitted to knowing and possessing Karma, specifically Blue," Glynda informed.

Ozpin eyes widened just a fraction, he was surprised Ruby would admit her knowledge of Karma, let alone her use of it.

"She also has knowledge of what her eyes can truly do. Whether she can use them at will or not is unknown.

Now that made Ozpin's eyes widen. Ruby knew of her Silver eyes? This brought up more questions. Does she know of their full potential? Can she use them at will? Does anyone else know of her eyes? one answer bringing up so many questions.

"Is there anything else?" Ozpin's guacamole colored eyes flashed blue as he passively searched for Glynda's thoughts.

Glynda immediately senses the invading willpower trying to penetrate her psyche. Unconsciously her Karma brought up a wall to block off the wizard's Will. But her own Will crumbled before the great and powerful Oz's.

Even so, she did her best to hide her thoughts as best as she could.

"Other than Ruby's Semblance evolving, there has been nothing else." She was beginning to sweat. She could feel Ozpin's Will trying to search for any signs of dishonesty, but she did her best to think of other things.

It would only raise suspicions if she thought of nothing.

"... She is aware that we both have Karma as well, and has assumed your strength to be immense." Glynda hoped-, no, no, no! There was no reason she hoped. No reason at all.

"I see..." the blue glow in Oz's eyes faded away along with the crushing sense of Willpower. "do you know who trained her?"

If Glynda wasn't so mentally train, she would have dropped right then and there. gasping for air like a suffocating animal. But she stood strong, she could let Ruby suffer from such burdens, she promised.

"She states that it was her mother, not Summer, but someone else. She did not say who was her mother, as she was reluctant to even talk about that." Glynda controlled her breathing as best as she could, sweat formed at her brow but she ignored it.

Ozpin merely nodded at the information. Glynda didn't know if Ozpin knew about Ruby's Karma, but if he did he didn't show it.

"That will be all Miss Goodwitch." Ozpin walked over to his desk, he flopped down onto his chair.

"I see, well if you need anything else don't actually bother me." she tried to alleviate the room's tension with some humor, but it was apparently ignored. She cleared her throat before walking off.

The moment the elevator door closed, Glynda dropped down onto the floor. She was gasping for air as sweat soaked her white blouse, making her bra visible. But she didn't care, she was just enjoying the sweet relief of free will.

She didn't know why she still worked for the man. Whether it was because she had stood by him since she was informed of the war between him and Salem or because it was her sense of duty as a Huntress.

Regardless, she just hoped it was worth it.

9,545 words, excluding disclaimer and Author's Note. I will accept criticism and opinions.

Ah~... don't ya just love it when ya finish a chapter BEFORE the deadline. Feels great to not be working on a chapter sometime in 11:59pm on the day of the deadline.

Anyways! This chapter feel a lot smoother to writer, especially when its close to a ten thousand. There are some parts here and there that feel a bit choppy like the very beginning and the flashback involving Ruby and Glynda.

It was fun to write Blake and Yang trying to pathetically defend themselves from Cookie's attacks. I won't go too into it, but Cookie may or not possess some power. Especially since it was written she died when the Narrator tried to kill Ruby.

I will be explaining a few thing revolving around Karma and Aura. Let's start with Aura.

I had to rewatch the beginning parts of Vol. one where Pyrrha actives Jaune's Aura along with RWBY World of Remnant. So, I think I got a handle on it.

Aura is the manifestation of the Soul. It's mainly used a passive force field which protects ya from suffering fatal damage like a gunshot to the head, or a kick that can shatter ribs.

Aura can be used to also heighten physical prowess. Allowing one to jump super high or increase their strength, or make them run a lot fast.

Semblances

Karma is another manifestation, but the Soul is not the source of its power. As said before, it is the result of one's Willpower.

Blue Karma allows one to alter their surroundings within a give space. Telekinesis, healing, sense one's presence and/or emotions, cause objects to teleport excluding user, etc. They can however NOT create glyphs. They can mimic glyphs physically but to preform the effects Weiss' glyphs, they would need more controlled Karma applied into that glyph.

Red Karma allows one to alter their self, be it increased healing, hardening of the skin, heightened instincts(like a lesser version of Observation Haki(One piece) or Ultra Instinct(Dragon Ball Super).

Strained forced use may result in destruction of body and/or deterioration of mental stability.

There are other aspects involving the Karmas, but for the sake of plot along with more needed time to develop an explanation, I will not say anything.

Also we reached 1,000 reads sometime ago.

...

WhY?! I just a small time writer! I don't have good shit! And it's on Wattpad!

Au revoir!
