Chapter 3: Mum and Dad
"Hey, Bear!" exclaimed Dad as he ruffled my hair and walked past through the door. I followed him eagerly, questioning his absence - he'd been gone for ages! But he plonked himself down on the sofa and turned on the comedy channel, shrugging off every question I threw at him. He wouldn't answer a single one! Maybe if I hadn't burnt the cookies he would eat them and be happier . . .
"Hey, is Chase still at work?" Dad turned around and asked. I nodded, hoping he would ask more then I could ask some of my burning questions. But it became clear that Dad didn't want to talk, do I retreated upstairs to wake up Mum and tell her of Dad's arrival.
I could tell she had been tossing and turning in her sleep because the sheets were all tangled up and two of the pillows were heaped on top of her. I gently nudged her, and when that didn't work I threw the pillows aside and began to shake the mattress. That woke her up. "Willow! What on Earth is going on!" she cried. Oops. "Dad's back," was my sheepish reply.
Her face suddenly clouded over. "Willow, you go into the garden. Do whatever you like but don't come into the kitchen. When Chase comes back make him do the same. I'm just going to have a private chat with your dad." I expected kissing, so I didn't argue.
Chase walked in through the door as I was coming down the stairs, so we went outside together. I messed around with the grill to see what I could make for a snack, and Chase took photos of his outfit and hairstyle and posted them to Simstagram. We could both see Mum and Dad yelling at each other through the window. In my head I was crying. This wasn't supposed to happen! Mum and Dad love each other! They'll be together forever, live happy lives together, RAISE ME AND CHASE TOGETHER! I took one of the tofu dogs I grilled and jogged to my bedroom, making sure to cover my ears when passing the doorway to the kitchen.
My bedroom is right at the top of the house, and it suits my tastes perfectly. It's covered in greens and browns, the forest wallpaper has sparkly glitter, and there's room for my huge bear toy collection. The large windows give me a great view of the woods next to the house. I jumped under the covers of my cute, green bed and cried until my eyes were red and puffy. Then I took my camera out of a drawer and took photos of everything in my bedroom to keep my mind off the current events.
Half an hour later, Dad burst into my room. "Pack your things, Willow," he announced. "We're leaving."
