chapter one!

season 1, episode 1 - welcome to colorado!

AURORA BANKS WAS IN English, taking a nap.  She had finished her classwork early, plus she was tired from the night before. She was at her desk, just enjoying her sleep when she felt a light tap on her shoulder. "A, you up?" a voice asked her as she rubbed her eyes. "Yes. Ned, can't you see I'm sleeping here?"

"The bell just rang. I'm sorry." As the two quickly grabbed their things, Aurora couldn't help but yawn. I need to take a nap when I get home, she mentally noted. Class after class, it felt like the day kept dragging on. As much as Aurora loved being one of the best students in her class, even she was sick of school at times.

Her and Ned departed as Aurora headed to study hall. Walking into the library, she sent the librarian a small wave as she found the perfect spot to sit and read. Rummaging through her bag, she couldn't seem to find her book. "That's weird. I could've sworn I put it in here." she whispered to herself.  Aurora Banks always tried to be organized and keep track of things.  So where did she put her book?

LUNCH EVENTUALLY CAME AROUND as her and Ned sat at their regular lunch table.  "So how was study hall? You finish that new book you've been reading?"

"No.  I don't know where it went.  I had it with me this morning and it's gone."

"Don't worry, A.  I'm sure it'll turn up eventually.  And plus, someone would be stupid to steal your stuff."

"I would never let them live it down.  I'd make them feel my wrath."

"I'd join you in making them pay if anyone ever took your stuff."

"And this is why we're best friends." she stated as she ate some grapes.  "I'll be right back. I'm gonna get some pudding."

"Okay."  As Aurora ate the rest of her food, Cole Walter came to her table.  "Uh... can I help you?" she asks as she looked at the blonde haired boy in front of her.  Out of all people, why was he coming up to her all of a sudden.  "Look, if this is a joke, the answer is no."

"Trust me, this isn't a joke.  You're Aurora, right?"

"Yes... why do you a-". He took out a copy of "Take A Hint, Dani Brown", handing it to her.  "I've been looking for this everywhere! Where did you find it?"

"We're in the same class.  I noticed you left it after English so I decided to wait and give it to you right now."

"Well, thank you..."

"Cole."

"Thank you, Cole."  Aurora couldn't help but notice Erin looking at them, frowning at the sight of their interaction.  "You should probably go back to your friends.  Plus, I don't want your girlfriend to get the wrong idea."

"I'll take your word on that." Cole stated, making Aurora laugh.  "But I'll see you around, Cole."

"See you around, sleeping beauty."  As Cole walked back to his table, Aurora's jaw was on the floor.  He sure was a bit of a flirt.  "How did you get the Cole Walter to come to our table?" Ned asked, snapping his friend out of her thoughts.  "He gave me my book.  Why? Is he famous or something?"

"A, he's known for the whole grade wanting to be with him.  I mean, he's dating Erin right now but they're usually on and off."

"Doesn't ring a bell."

"He's a former quarterback... he got injured."

"Oh! That's who you're talking about.  I'm not very good at remembering names with faces."

"You aren't."

"Hey!"

"I'm kidding, A." Some of the quarterbacks and Erin's friends were talking amongst themselves while Erin gave Cole an angry look. "Why were you talking to that girl? Who is she anyways?"

"Relax, Erin. I was just giving her a book she left in English. We don't know each other."

"I heard she's valedictorian, actually." Olivia stated, causing Erin to roll her eyes. "Olivia?"

"Yes?"

"Shut up."

"You're jealous, aren't you? You can't even stand when I'm around another girl for a second."

"Everyone in school wants you, babe. I can't just leave you alone for a minute and the next thing you know, a random kid is making out with you."

"That will never happen, Erin, okay? Plus, I wouldn't let some random kid kiss me."  The two of them share a quick kiss, making Erin smile.  "Your coming to my cheer practice later?"

"Yeah, I'll be there."  The bell finally rang, allowing all students to leave the cafeteria and scurry to class.

Sorry for the short chapter! I'm only writing one chapter for each episode bc making part 1, part 2, etc. is really annoying 😭

Cole called Aurora sleeping beauty 🤭 I mean... he's not wrong about that (she's literally so pretty omg)

Still a #1 Cole hater tho!!
