Jermey and Josh walked into the Chief's office and took a seat, watching the Chief.

" Jeremy Smith I presume?" She stated as she pulled out a file.

"Yes ma'am." Jermey replied strongly in an attempt to seen less nervous.

"It says here, that your father was an abusive drunk, is that correct?" She asked, trying to hide her sympathy.

"Yes ma'am, that is correct." Jeremy responded looking her straight in the eyes. It didn't bother Jermey much anymore.

"OK, it also says that you were involved in an apartment fire when you were 9. Is that correct?" She asked changing the subject. Jermey looked at her shocked.

"Uh, ma'am that wasn't supposed to be on record. The officer said he wouldn't mention my name in the report." Jermey told her, nervously.

"Well he lied. And I know what he said happened. But what do you say happened?" She asked, now very interested in Jermey's side of the story.

"Well miss. I was walking down the street when I saw the fire," he told her, "and decided that I was going to help, so I ran in." Jermey explained nervously.

"OK if that's it, you can leave." She stated putting the file away.

"Joshua here will be your new partner from now on, or until you get sick of him and request for a new partner. If that's OK with you." She said obviously not asking, Josh laughed.

"Now who would pass up the offer of being my partner?" He said sarcastically with a smile. The Chief smiled slightly before dismissing us.

"Oh and Mr. Smith one more thing"

"Yes?"

"Your first assignment is to locate, the missing 23-year old, Jasmine Sebastian Jude." She said, with a smile.

"Yes ma'am will do." Jermey replied as he walked our of the Chief's office.
