Jungkook clapped to get the children's attention. It has been a week since Minjun joined his class. The pup was silent, doing his work quietly in a corner. The other children left him alone though Jungkook could tell they were curious about him and a few wanted to befriend him.
However, some things took time, and he gently told them as much and encouraged them to give him some time and space to Minjun to get used to them.
Today, he decided to do a team bonding exercise. He has done similar activities in the past. It helped them find common likes and dislikes. It also improved communication and teamwork. Today, however, he divided the children into two students per group.
Since he had an odd number of children in his class, he decided to be Minjun's teammate. "We will draw the members in our household first and then introduce them to your partner. Then your partner will do the same. So let's get to know our friends better, shall we?"
And the task commenced. Minjun looked troubled, and his scent wilted a little, but he grabbed a paper and the art supplies nonetheless. He glanced around but said nothing.
Jungkook strode to him with his supplies and settled beside him. "Hey, Minjun, do you mind sharing your desk with you? Or do you prefer if we use mine?"
Minjun glanced at him and then at his desk. "Your desk is bigger," he said.
Jungkook nodded.
"But I like mine."
The omega smiled warmly. "Then we can use yours if you are okay with that."
Minjun looked thoughtful for a moment before he moved his things aside to make space for Jungkook. It wasn't an easy fit. Though Jungkook had dragged his chair to him, the desk was much smaller, but he would manage. He wanted to be Minjun's friend.
They both began to draw, and Jungkook noticed the pup slightly leaning closer to inhale his scent. He was sure the pup didn't even realize he was doing that.
They worked in complete silence. The pup seemed comfortable and focused on his work. Jungkook drew a caricature version of himself with Binky Bum, eying Minjun, who drew two figures, writing daddy in one figure and me in another.
When the time was up, Jungkook stood. "Alright, kids. Now exchange the drawing with your partner and take turns introducing the members of your household. You can talk about anything you want. Others remember to always listen to your friend," he reminded with a smile before sitting down. "Let's do this!"
"Wanna go first?" he asked the pup.
Minjun frowned, holding the paper to his chest, and bit his bottom lip. His milky scent soured a little. He shook his head.
Jungkook kept his smile intact. "Okay. I'll go first, then," he said, handing him the drawing. "That's me. My name is Jeon Jungkook, but my friends call me Kookie. That's Binky Bum. He's ten months old and very playful," he lowered his voice with a playful wink. "He also likes to chew up my things, but he's still a baby, so he gets away with most of it. Now your turn."
Minjun's eyes lit up when he spoke about Binky. He chuckled upon hearing his name. "You live with a bunny?" he asked wide-eyed. "What about your daddy and mommy?"
Jungkook smiled softly. "My Papa lives far, far away from here and I don't have a mommy. I live alone."
Minjun glanced at his drawing again. "Who gives you food if you don't have a daddy?" He pouted with genuine concern etching his features.
"Hmm...let's see." Jungkook leaned on the table, supporting his chin in his hands. "Grown up people cook for themselves. So I cook most of the times. I also have a friend who shares his meals with me."
"Do you miss your Papa?"
"I do." Jungkook smiled.
He was born and brought in Busan, but later moved here to Seoul since he wanted to get away from his home town a little. To get away from the bitter memories he didn't want to remember. Of course, he missed his dad. They talked almost every day. But he just couldn't bear to live there anymore.
Minjun's frown stayed. He brought his drawing forward. "This is me and my Papa. He protects me. Papa feed me. Papa takes me to trips." He glanced at Jungkook's drawing. "Who protect teacher?" His scent turned turbulent. "Who take teacher out?"
Jungkook melted a little. "I do," he answered softly. "I take care of myself."
Minjun didn't look convinced. "Teacher is alone," he mumbled to himself.
Jungkook's heart melted into a puddle. The pup was worried for him because he lived alone. The genuine concern warmed his heart. He put his hand on the pup's hand and squeezed gently. "Your Papa sounds like a wonderful person. Wanna tell me more about him?"
Minjun's face lit considerably, and Jungkook knew he had cracked through his exterior and was one step closer to becoming his friend.

Jimin watched as Minjun sniffed the food before stuffing his mouth. What's with the sniffing? Where did he learn that from? The pup scrunched his nose, chewing with his mouth closed with a serious look.
What happened? Is the food too spicy? Did he not like it?
"How is food?" he asked, concern lacing his voice. It was his favorite dish. Minjun loved spicy food, so he didn't understand why he was acting all serious suddenly.
"It's so good," Minjun said, but the concentrated look on his face didn't change. He made small noises of content and his scent radiated happiness.
As confusing as this new habit was, Jimin also found it so adorable. Minjun loved food. He lived for it, but if he thought Minjun was expressive before, this was next level. Jimin ate his food while watching his son fondly.
The pup's milky scent sweetened considerably and he was happy for several reasons. It had been months since he saw Minjun so relaxed. He hadn't been able to drop Minjun at school this week. He expected it to be hectic for another week or so. However, he could see Minjun liked the new school.
Once again, Minjun surprised him by completing his homework without his help. Later, when they were in the bath Minjun finally broke the silence.
"Papa, why do people live alone?" Minjun asked out of the blue.
"Huh?"
"My teacher lives with a bunny," he continued without waiting for his answer. "Minjun has Papa but teacher's Papa is not here." The little boy frowned. "I don't like it when Papa is not here."
Jimin felt a tug in his heart. "I'm sorry, sweetheart." He leaned to kiss his temple and glanced at his face. "You know Papa has to work, right? That's how Papa earns money and we need money to afford all this." He waved around them.
Minjun nodded. "I know." He frowned again. "But I miss Papa when Papa isn't here? Teacher miss his Papa too?"
"Maybe," Jimin replied softly. "But your teacher is grown man, isn't he? I'm sure he can take care of himself."
Minjun didn't look convinced. "Nobody should be alone," he reasoned.
Jimin smiled. "Your uncles all live alone. I used to live alone before Minjunie came along."
"Teacher don't have mommy just like Minjunie," the pup said and Jimin's smile faltered. "Teacher don't have Papa."
Ah.
His scent radiated sadness. Was his pup feeling sad for his teacher?
"I'm happy I have Papa," Minjun continued. "I don't want to live without Papa."
Jimin embraced his son then. "You will always have me." He kissed the top of his head and scented him gently. "Papa is always here."
Minjun sank in his embrace. "I love you, Papa."
Jimin teared up a little. "I love you too, my baby."
