The smell of iodoform hit me as I enter the hospital. I walk up to the reception and a woman with wearing a white uniform greets me, her brown eyes sparkling. "How may I help you?"

"Yes, I'm Nora Johnson. My appointment is with Dr.R.Smith.

"One second," she picks up a landline and punches a few numbers.

"Dr. Smith will be in his cabin on the third floor." She says with a smile. I nod as I walk toward the elevator.

With a ding, the elevator stops on the third floor; searching for a nameplate, I spotted it at the end of the hallway.

"Come In." A voice responds to my knocks.

"Dr. Smith. I'm Nora Johnson." I poked my head in. Dr. Smith is wearing a white doctor's coat, his bald head wrinkled as he stares at his computer screen. I clear my throat for his attention.

"Ah! Miss Johnson, please have a seat." He looks up and adjusts his glasses.

"Thank you."

"Miss Johnson, how do I say this?" He looks at me and then sighs.

"What's the matter, doctor?"

"Well," He sighs again. "Your report is quite disturbing."

My heart sank, as his words. "What do you mean?"

"Your reports came positive." He says while staring at his computer screen. "You have Liver Cancer."

"What?!" I tried to put everything together, as he hands me my reports. Calming myself, I read it scanning for a word which can prove it all wrong but it was useless. In bold red font, it was written.

"This is treatable, right? How long does it take to recover?" I ask, with all the courage I could gather, stopping my tears that were on the brink of eruption.

"I'm sorry." I felt a pang of pain in my chest as I saw Doctor bowing his head. "It's the last stage, at the most you have six months." A tear started its journey rolling down to my cheek.

"Why?" It was all I could speak before getting up.

"Miss Johnson, please buy these medicines, it will help in suppressing the pain."

"What is wrong with you?" Sebastian yells, slamming his laptop. "How can you forget something so important?"

"Sorry, Sir." I bow down my head blankly staring at my shoes.

I came to work directly from the hospital. Sebastian has been working here since yesterday, his sleeves rolled up till his elbow and his tie loosely hung around his collar. "Go get me a cup of coffee." He snarls as he hands me the cup.

"Hey!" I look around to see Iva smiling as brightly as ever. "What's up with you?"

"Nothing," I said in a low voice as I pour the coffee.

"Tell Me, Nora" she comes closer and pats my head. Iva has always done that, she knows me.

"Iva," I turn around tears streaming down my cheeks. She hugs me tight, as I try to control my tears.

"Here wipe it with this and tell me what's wrong." She hands me a napkin from the counter.

"I'm sorry about your shirt." I wipe my face as I notice a huge stain on her blouse. She smiles to reassure me that it's okay.

"Let me give this coffee, we'll take during lunch break." I quickly adjusted my shirt that got wrinkled and set my hair as I walked back to Sebastian's office.

Gently knocking, I peek inside. He was resting his head on the table, making my way towards his table, I put down the cup. He was snoring softly, his brows tensed.

"No!" Iva dropped her salad and started sobbing, I told her everything from my liver cancer to my six months left. Her face went pale as I continued talking.

"And what-- I mean --I" She was at a loss for words.

I could not say anything as well, I have so much to do and the time is not enough. My Zoey, my baby what will happen to her. Iva was still sobbing when Drake spotted us, I elbowed Iva and signed her to stay silent.

"Hey, why are you crying?" He asks Iva and then turns to me. "What happened?"

"Ah--" I open my mouth to speak.

"Nothing, just a bug got in my eye," Iva answers as she puts her glasses back.

"Okay. Oh right Nora, Satan is searching for you." He says and takes a seat next to Iva.

I quickly slip my feet back in my heels and dashed towards his office. I let out a heavy sigh before knocking the door.

"Why did you sigh?"

I turn around to see a pair of emerald eyes staring at me, taking a step back I hit my head on the door. "Hey, easy. Okay?" Sebastian grabs my wrist and pulls me aside.

"Sir, Ah-- you called." I bowed my head down avoiding to meet his eyes.

"Yes!" He answers in a straight tone. "I want you to complete the presentation by the end of the week."

"Yes Sir."

***

"Mommy you are late again." Zoey stomps her foot as she refuses to hug me.

"Sorry Zoey, mommy had a lot of work." I lied, after getting off work I aimlessly wandered around the streets trying to figure out the situation. "Let's go home now. Hmm!"

"Okay" She smiles and walks in front of me.

"So what did you learn at school today."

"Today we learnt about dianosaurs." She chuckles.

"You mean dinosaurs."

"Yeshhhh!!! My favorite is T-rex."

"Hmm!" Walking with Zoey is the best thing ever, she will randomly pet dogs and cats and will giggle while hoping around.

"Mommy, Let's take a picsture." she points at the Photo shop.

"Okay." we got inside the shop, pictures were hanging everywhere, at the reception was an old lady half asleep.

"Miss?" I tried to wake her up, her eyes snap opened.

"Welcome. Sera! We have customers."

"Mom, how many times do I have to say don't yell in front of customers." A girl with black hair came out, she was holding a camera in one hand and a notebook in other.  She smiles at us and pats Zoey's head. "Do you want to take a picture?" She asks as she ruffles her hair.

"Yes." I answer.

"This way please." she opens the door at led her photo studio, a green background and huge light umbrellas surrounding it. "Your daughter is so cute." She places a chair in front of the green background. "Please sit here and little girl go stand next to your mother." Zoey giggles as did as she was told.

"Smile." Sera yells happily as she clicks the shutter. "Prefect!" she exclaims.

"Your daughter is so cute, bet she will be gorgeous when she grow up." Sera says as she connects her camera to her laptop.

"Thank You!" It was all I could say for I won't be there to witness her growing up. I felt a sudden urge to run away and somehow make things magically change. I wish Zach was here with us in this photo. Holding my tears back, I picked up Zoey and walked towards the reception.

Paying them for the photo, we were once again walking out on the street, the sun was about to set and our shadows stretched long behind us.

'I don't want to die'
