Chapter I

"Nora! The CEO is calling you." Iva yells from the door of our cabin. I quickly grabbed my notebook and came running out. Adjusting my skirt and tightening my ponytail, I knocked on the door.

"Come in." He growls. Looking at me with his piercing emerald eyes he sighed. "Have you got the copy of Bright Corporation's Contract?" Shit! I forgot about that stupid contract. I shook my head as he facepalmed. "The what are you looking at, go and bring it to me." He snarled.

This arrogant guy, even though he is only four years older than me; he acts so cocky and full of himself.  I'm the secretary of Sebastian Blaze the CEO of Blue Hunt Corporation. The man is a brand himself, every single business magazine wants him on its cover, winning the title of 'CEO of The Year' for 3 years in a row he has set new records in the business industry, but the only thing which is not charming is his personality; A face that can make every girl swoon but a tongue that spits fire.

"You did it again." Iva adjusted her glasses as she handed me the documents.

"It's not like I did it on purpose." I slumped onto the chair and took off my heels. Walking in heels for the whole day is also one of my tasks.

"Now go and give this to him." She says as she shuts down her computer.

"Ivaaaa!" I whined. "Can we trade places, please."

Iva Stars, my co-worker, and my best friend. She was the one who recommended me the job. Iva is the secretary of the other CEO David Blaze. "No way! I don't want to work with Satan." she flips her brown hair and packs her stuff.

The Blue Hunt Corporation was started as a family business of exports and imports by the Blaze family. Current owners Sebastian and David Blaze are the third generation CEOs.

Even though they are brothers but their natures as like fire and ice. David is a year older than Sebastian and is more mature and reasonable than any other person while Sebastian is a spoiled rich brat but his works always end with perfection.

"By the way, today is your daughter's school meeting, right?"

"Oh no!" I gasped as I quickly packed my stuff. It's five O'clock already. Running towards Sebastian's office, I knocked again.

"Sir! These are the files you asked for." I kept the bundle on his table. He was busy typing something on his computer.

"Do you want a reward?" He looks up.

"No Sir." I know a mean comment is coming my way.

"Then go." He points at the door.

"Taxi!" I yelled at the top of my voice.

A yellow cab stops in front of me. I quickly opened the door and sat inside. "To the Happy Kindergarten please," I said as I put on the seat belt.

The driver accelerates while I turned on my phone; 7 miss calls! Zoey will be so angry. My five-year-old daughter has just started attending the kindergarten. After the death of my husband, I somehow landed on a job that can feed us. Zoey was three years old when Zach died. I cannot forget that horrific day, even after two years I still hope that he'll come home with his ever smiling face.

The cab comes to a halt. "We are here ma'am." The driver said. "It'll be $20."

"Okay!" I handed him the money and quickly walked inside the empty school ground.

"Mommy!" Zoey came running the moment she spotted me. I picked her up and swung her in the air. Her giggle makes me calm. "Mommy hurry, teacherl is waiting." She wraps her tiny hand around my fingers.

"Miss Johnson, please don't be late for meetings." The teacher said.

"Yes! I'm sorry." I apologized.

"Zoey is an excellent girl, she made friends with everyone in the class." Zoey smiles from ear to ear as she listens to her compliments.

The meeting ended and the teacher gave me a list of stationery that Zoey will be needing every day. "Let's stop at the convenience store on our way."

"Pasta or pizza," I ask Zoey as I take out the pan from the dishwasher.

"Passhtaa!" she exclaims. "Zoey wants passhtaa." she jumps up and down with happiness.

"Okay, go color. I'll call you when it's ready."

"So the book says to mix everything in a pan and then add boiled pasta to it." Hmm pretty simple.

After 20 minutes I was able to make an edible version of pasta, I suck at cooking. Calling Zoey out, who was busy coloring outside the lines in her colorbook. I picked her up and placed her on a chair, then I wrapped a bib around her neck.

Blowing the hot pasta, I give small bites to her.

"Yummy!" Her giggle is so cute.

I was feeding Zoey when suddenly my phone started ringing. "One second." I wiped Zoey's face with her bib.

"Hospital?" I read the name as I picked up the call. "Hello?" The voice says from the other side.

"Yes?"

"Is this Nora Johnson?"

"Yes, I am."

"I'm Dr. R. Smith from McHailey Hospital. Your test results are out."

"Ahh! Yes."

"Please come to the Hospital tomorrow." His tone suddenly turned serious.

"Okay!" Hanging up the phone I went back to Zoey.

Now that I remember, I have been feeling a lot more tired than ever before so I decided to go for a health check-up. The results came out faster than I expected.
