OLD - REDOING

"I'm gonna get you!" A happy Branchkit exclaimed. "In your dreams," Frondkit mewed, running away from the brown tabby. Branchkit cut him off by jumping on top of him. "Pinned you! Told you I could catch yo- ouch!" Poppykit pounced on his swinging tail. "Poppykit, what are you doing to my tail," Branchkit asked, unamused. "I was trynna practice my hunting!" "Well, I can sure see that. Good job...I guess." He fluffed out his pelt after she let go. Queen Minnowflight called from the other side of the nursery, "Poppykit, come here! What have I told you about pouncing on other's tails? That is no way a Princess should act." "Sorry mom, it won't happen again!" The ginger she-kit gave an innocent smile, and Minnowflight chuckled.

Thornkit was by his mother, not wanting to play with the others. "Thornkit, go have some fun." The dark brown tabby shrugged and said, "Frondkit and Branchkit are just tagging each other and running; I want to fight. And Poppykit is a princess, she isn't going to want to do what I want. I'm perfectly fine here." Fernshade shook her head and sighed. "Just go ask your brothers, they will want to play-fight as well. I need to speak with Eaglefeather about something. Go to your brothers, I don't want you to be alone." Her cream colored pelt pricked with anxiety.

"Frondkit, Branchkit, can you play with me now? I want to practice my fighting skills," he growled."Oh- sure! Who's gonna go first," Branchkit asked. Frondkit jumped up excitedly, "I want to go first against Thornkit!" Thornkit shrugged, and got himself into a position one of the apprentices showed him. Without warning, Thornkit launched himself at Frondkit, claws sheathed. Frondkit tried to dodge, but wasn't ready for how fast Thornkit was. He was knocked down, and was greeted by Thornkit's smirk. He tried to kick his dark brown tabby brother off him, but Thornkit kept the fluffy gray tabby pinned. "Alright, alright, enough. Get off me!" Thornkit took his paws off of his brother. "Hey Branchkit, want to go against me next?" Branchkit shook his head, to which his brother walked back to the corner of the nursery with an arrogant look. "I can't believe he pinned me! Next time it will be different." Branchkit smiled, and then looked around the nursery. "Frondkit, want to go to Poppykit?" "Of course you want to play with her," Frondkit snickered teasingly. "I'll come too!"

Outside of the Clan camp, under the orange sky, Fernshade was talking to Eaglefeather, her mate. "There's something I've needed to tell you, Eaglefeather. You might hate me after this, but it's something that I can hide no longer," she was pacing; nervous. Eaglefeather nodded slowly, his yellow eyes narrowing in confusion. "I can assure you, I will never hate you...." He thought for a second. "You know what, tell me tomorrow, because there is something I must do tonight of great importance. My thoughts have to remain unclouded; my heart filled with your ray of light... You know I love you, Fernshade." Fernshade blushed from his kindness, and nuzzled him. "There is nobody else in this whole world I would rather be with." He smiled at her, and took a quick glance towards the camp direction. She stared at him with adoration and uncertainty that he'll truly still feel the same once she revealed her truth; their truth. She stepped back, "I'm not going back to camp right now. You go on, and can you give the kits a thrush? It is time for them to eat their last meal for today."

When he was out of sight, Fernshade sighed. "Stonefeather, come out from the bushes. I know you're there." Stonefeather came out from hiding with some chervil. He put them down and said to his sister, "So, you're going to tell him. I should be there, shouldn't I?" He sighed, "I can help explain; it is my fault this happened." Fernshade shook her head. "This is for me to do, alone. Before you argue, I just want to say that he probably would do better with only me telling him; I do know my mate better than you." With that word she got up and started to go back to the Clan camp, stopping to let him catch up. Stonefeather shook his gray head and padded after her. "It's no use to argue with you."

The sky glittered with beautiful stars as Fernshade returned. "It's time to go to sleep," the mother of three kits purred. They went to sleep next her, taking time to calm after their exciting exchange of Thornkit and Frondkit's fight to Eaglefeather earlier, and finally began to dream. It was around moonhigh when Branchkit awoke. He snuck away from his mom and siblings to look outside the nursery. It's so peaceful in the camp, he thought. Then, his eyes widened at the sight of a shadow moving silently through camp. I need to see what that is. It could be something bad. He padded after the figure, and right before it exited camp, he pounced upon ready for battle if necessary. Unaware of what touched him, the figure, whipped about. His yellow eyes looked down and seeing it was his kit clinging on, he chided, "Branchkit why are you awake? It's moonhigh. You should be resting." "Father!" Branchkit's eyes narrowed in confusion. I can't sleep now that I'm wide awake. I should ask him what he's doing. "Well, what are you doing awake? Like you said, it's moonhigh." Eaglefeather sighed. "Well, I want to go night hunting, by myself. I can concentrate more in the silence of night. There's a secret I want to tell you, but don't tell your mother, alright?" Branchkit nodded. "I want to give her a nice, fat vole. Those are her favorite. I can sniff out a den of their's and sneak on them while they are asleep. Now, you go back to bed. Goodnight Branchkit," Eaglefeather smiled warmly and brought him towards the nursery. "Goodnight father." Eaglefeather exited camp, while Branchkit walked towards his sleeping mother and brothers. What if he needs help. I could help him! But he said go back to bed. But, I want to learn how to be like him, and to do that I need to help him. Branchkit's inner argument decided his course. Time to help my father catch a vole. Branchkit left camp, and into the forest, unaware of the consequence of his actions.
