Chapter Four~Welcome To The Dark Forest, The Place I Need To Escape From

The shadows around this... Forest. A dark, dark, dark, dark, dark, dark, dark, dark, dark, forest. Have you ever noticed that dark clothing, or dark fur, when put near a big source of heat-such as the sun-is warmer than if you put light fur/clothing near that source? The darkness attracts heat/light, and lightness deflects heat/light.

Why is this?

I honestly think that this happens because, the light is light-colored-obviously-and the dark is dark-colored, obviously. So, this would mean that the actual light is attracted to the opposite, which is darkness. The sun's heat or light is attracted to its opposite-which is darkness. This is why your fur/clothing gets hot when having dark things on you. And when you have light things on you, you will be cooler on a hot day, rather than if you have dark things on you, and you will get a more intense heat and may need a cool drink.

The scientific explanation for this occerance Of darker things being hotter than lighter things is the dark color absorbs every color except for the dark color. It reflects the dark color, but soaks in the other colors, such as the light from the sun so it attracts the heat.

Bit confusing, eh?

Yeah, that made more sense in my head.

My point is that in dark places it should be not. It is dark in hot places, unless it's such a place as a dark forest. A dark forest, will be damp and cool.

That's where I'm at in this point of the story.

In a damp, cool, and dark forest.

No light.

Just perpetual darkness.

But-of course-there was in fact enough light to see each other. Within a twenty-feet, or forty-paw range. Enough light to go for a lovely hunt.

Of course, now was not the time for a lovely hunt.

"What is the almighty Wildfire gonna do now?" Oak growled, still laughing. Pixels had lowered herself back onto the damp grass.

I took a look around at my surroundings, well, best I could anyways. Considering the undeniable fact that I was surrounded completely. Best to make up with Pixels after I save her. Seeing that she won't fight even with me to escape these mutts of cats.

Trees, trees, trees, trees, trees, I thought, my eyes scoping the land as far as my eye could see. Trees, and guess what? More trees. Rather thick trees. Moss growing on them. Or some sort of vegetation. Bushes surround the trees. Darker green than most greens, A rather lovely green actually. The trees are almost black. The grass is almost the same shade of green as the bushes surrounding the trees. Small rays of light. The light isn't even light here. It seems more... Dark. Some space between the tree I suppose. Maybe I could escape there, if I could just get this group of cat-mutts to disband. But how?  I need to think of a-Wait a moment! Perfect idea! I know what I need to do!

I looked around, tiredly, swaying a little bit for affect. "Scraps... Oak... I-I need something." I muttered. Oak went in my face, her whiskers were in right front of mine, "What is that exactly?" I gave a cough, and a sniffle, "I need some herbs, and medicine, I feel terribly ill. When I'm in the face of such a strong danger, I get sick. My stomach feels like it is everywhere all at once, would you please help me?"

Flattery always works. I thought, trying not to grin.

Oak turned to the others, "Tell Alpha that we need to help Wildfire!" Three nodded, then ran off.

"Alpha?" I asked. "Yes, we call her Alpha. It is a very important title." For dogs. I thought, still sniffling for affect.

Space. An open space for me to escape.

Without even thinking, I whipped on past Oak, and dodged one of Scraps powerful paws, filled with his jagged claws. I had to maneuver through a few more growling felines. But, after many skillful moves, I was home free!

Then again-of course-I had forgotten all about one cat. Pixels. I growled in frustration as I saw her, still low to the ground, angry. I looked out to the dark forest, then back at Pixels. I stared at Pixels for a moment, then was toppled over by a cat.

Turns out I forgot about more than one cat.

It knocked the breath right out of me. "Ow, ow, ow, ow." I complained, as I gasped for air. I couldn't see the cat's face, but I could hear the voice of the cat. It was a male cats voice, trying to sound brave.

"Welcome to The Dark Forest, Wildfire."
