Where's the Baby

Elliot and Liv worked around the clock to find the man and his child. Munch and Fin went to the original neighborhood where the Rodriguez's lived three years ago to find out if they moved at all. It turned out that they moved to the same area of Manhattan that the Hannigan's lived around Chelsea. That was Elliot and Cragen's cue to go check in with the Rodriguez's parole officers.

The bad thing was, they hadn't checked in with him in several months. The last address he had on them was in Spanish Harlem. "Why haven't you put a warrant out for them?" Cragen asked as Elliot started the car.

Harvey shrugged nonchalantly. "I've got dozen's of parolees to look out for. I had several others actually more important and dangerous than them."

Cragen cursed under his breath as they drove away. "We have a couple on the lamb, with their biological baby, kidnapped from her adoptive parents, her sister raped by her father. This is a grade A clusterfu--." His phone went off, cutting his last sentence off. "We got a bead on them. A guy at a bodega near Central Park remembers a guy that seemed freaked out and bought some candy for a young girl that seemed to be upset."

Elliot nodded and rushed over where Munch and Fin were talking with the guy. Cragen went over to speak to them while Elliot looked around. The dad was freaked out at what he just did, so he could have ran to the back of the store where the soda and toiletries were.  He knelt down to study each shelf, moving items around and looking behind them. Suddenly, he stopped. The very bottom shelf had a small yellow bow hidden behind a single roll of toilet paper.

"Captain!" Elliot shouted as he put a glove on to pick up the bow.

The bodega guy pointed at the bow. "That's what the little girl was wearing."

"Does he come in often?" Fin asked.

The guy nodded. "Yeah, a woman comes with him sometimes too. Looks a little like the girl."

"They've gotta live close by," Elliot said breathlessly. He was close to finding the girl. He needed to find her.

They gave the guy a card and to call them the second that they show up. In the mean time, Cragen ordered a stakeout for Munch and Fin, who both looked less than thrilled at the idea. When Elliot and Cragen got back to the office, Liv was in the middle of dialing Elliot's number. "Hey, so I called the Hannigan's in and asked them why they had the adoption records sealed for the little girl and why they hadn't said she was missing. They, in so many words, told me to 'just find the rapist'."

Cragen rolled his eyes as Elliot sighed heavily. "We are finding the rapist and it's raising more questions than it's answering."

Liv nodded as she sat back. Easton was kicking up a storm and she was getting slightly uncomfortable. If they were at home, he'd go over and rub her stomach to soothe the child, but since they were at work, he couldn't without raising eyebrows. She understood as he gripped the back of his chair tighter as a large kick forced her to grip her stomach in pain. "I know."

The next day came before Munch and Fin called Cragen with an address. Elliot went to meet them there. He needed to get that girl back to her adoptive parents, if that was going to be possible. The way they responded to Liv's questions about her was slightly concerning. They needed to talk to the Hannigan's neighbors and friends.

"Captain, can you send someone over to talk to the Hannigan's friends?" Elliot asked before he left.

The Captian was writing something when he lifted his head and looked curiously at him. "Why?"

"The way they reacted to Liv's questions makes me feel a little uncomfortable," Elliot explained. Cragen sat back and thought for a moment.

"I'll go over and talk to them, you go help Munch and Fin," Cragen pointed as he started to stand.

Elliot nodded and headed to he address where Fin and Munch were watching from a block away. Munch glanced at Elliot and waved. "Hey, welcome to the confusion."

Fin shook his head as Elliot came up to stand beside him. "What's wrong?" Elliot asked.

"This is the address that the Rodriguez's came to from the bodega, but the owner of the house is the Hannigian's," Fin explained.

"So, the victims own the house that the biological parents are staying at after kidnapping their own daughter back and raping the oldest daughter?" Elliot recapped, looking confused at Munch who nodded with a smirk. "This case is very complicated," he muttered.

Fin sighed angrily. "What do we do?"

Elliot looked at the brownstone. He had no idea what to do now. If they confronted the couple, then they could do something to their daughter. If they didn't, then something might happen anyway to her. Not to mention the fact that the Hannigain's odd behavior. "We have to figure out what's going on here," Elliot said.

He started walking to the brownstone, praying that this interaction went okay and the girl would be fine. Fin and Munch walked behind him, equally worried. Elliot knocked on the door twice and waited for the door to open. It took a full minute before the woman answered. Her dark brown eyes looked scared at the three detectives.

"I'm Detective Elliot Stabler, these are Detective's Munch and Tutuola. We're here to ask a few questions. Do you mind if we come in?" Elliot introduced them all with a serious smile.

The woman didn't reply, but stepped aside with a frown as the three entered the house. "Jose!"

The man that Annie described came down the stairs, anger in his eyes. "Que?" he asked harshly to the detectives.

Munch and Fin exchanged looks while Elliot returned the glare. "We need to ask you and your wife several questions," Elliot explained strictly.
