CHAPTER SEVENTEEN----▹

"The two of you," Leigh stated, motioning between Tess and Peter, "Are going to be cautious...that means staying out of this for as long as possible. Got it?" Leigh could be very intimidating...to pretty much anyone. Not that Tony would ever admit it, but she sometimes scared him more than an angry Natasha, and that was difficult to do.

"What exactly is the plan...if you don't mind me asking?" Tess spoke up, a small smile tugged at Leigh's lips, "Hope that we don't have to kick anybody's ass, but be prepared to if we have to." Tess nodded in understanding.

"Leigh, this is kind of our queue," Natasha spoke motioning for her to follow, "Wait for one of us to give you the signal," Leigh instructed, making sure both of the Parkers understood.

Leigh and Natasha approached the scene almost silently, "Steve," the older woman started, he turned around, now seeing both Natasha and Leigh. "You know what's about to happen. Do you really wanna punch your way out of this one?"

The question was met with utter silence, "Look, I think that both of you need to get off your high horse, and have a fucking conversation." Leigh stated, "That's just my opinion though, please, don't let it stop you." The sarcasm was practically dripping from her tone.

Another beat of silence.

"Alright, I've run out of patience." Tony started, "Underoos," he called out signaling the two Parkers, Tess was the first to swing out, and Peter followed just behind her, webbing Cap's SHIELD.

"Nice job, kid." Tony complimented shortly, "Thanks," Tess and Peter responded simultaneously, "Well I could've stuck the landing a little better-" Peter started before the other teenager cut him off, "Your landing was spotless, but only because you were taught by the best." Tess bragged referring to herself.

Tony was shaking his head at the two of them, "Yeah we don't really need to start a conversation." Tess was definitely still freaking out about the fact that she was in the presence of The Natasha Romanoff.

"Cap...Captian. Big fan. Spiderman." he introduced, and then motioned to Tess, "Ghost-Spider." Tony waved the two of them off, "Yeah, we'll talk about it later. Just good job."

"You've been busy." Steve noted, "And you've been a complete idiot. Dragging in Clint...' rescuing' Wanda, from a place she doesn't even want to leave, a safe place," Leigh's mouth fell open slightly, "You dragged Wanda into this." her voice was eerily calm, yet slightly raised, Steve flinched slightly at her tone.

"I'm trying to keep..." Tony exhaled sharply, "I'm trying to keep you from tearing the Avengers apart." Steve stared at him for a moment, "You did that when you signed."

"He did not just say that." Leigh muttered, "Tell me he did not just say that." Natasha gently squeezed Leigh's shoulder, "Deep breaths, we're going to figure this out,"

"Alright, we're done. You're gonna turn Barnes over. You're gonna come with us now because it's us...or a squad of J-SOC guys, with no compunction about being impolite...come on." Tony's voice became quieter by the end, as though it was a slight plea.

"Please don't make us do this Steve," Leigh pleaded, she was trying to keep everything from falling apart, including herself. The blonde man just kind of looked at her for a minute, a glint of guilt in his eyes.

An arrow whisked through the air, splitting the webbing on his hands, "Damn it, Clint." Leigh muttered, Something appeared stealing Cap's shield and sending Peter flying backward, "I believe this is your's, Captain America."

"Oh great." Tony sighed, "Alright there's two heat signatures on the parking deck one of them's Maximoff, I'm gonna grab her. Rhodey you wanna take Cap?"

Leigh was hurt, even if Wanda did it unintentionally, she still betrayed her in a way. "Got two in the terminal. Wilson and Barnes." Rhodey alerted. "Barnes is mine." T'challa took off,  and Cap went to follow him, his shield flying through the air, but it froze in time midway through, Steve whipped around to see Leigh standing there, "Steve it isn't too late, please just stop this."

"You know I can't Leigh," he sighed, "I'm sorry. I hope you find it in your heart to forgive me at some point," she frowned, and after a moment, let the shield fall to the ground.

Peter and Tess crashed through the glass, Peter kicking Sam backward, and Tess followed wedging herself between Peter and Bucky. Tess caught Bucky's metal arm mid-punch, "Oh my god, he has a metal arm!" Tess exclaimed and Peter added a "That's so cool-"

The boy was cut off by Sam flying into him, "PETE-" She shouted, before turning to Bucky still holding his arm, "You heard nothing."

Meanwhile, Clint and Wanda ran, avoiding explosion after explosion, "Wanda, I think you hurt Leigh's feelings." She glared at him, "You locked me in my room."

"Ok, first that's an exaggeration. Second, I did it to protect you." Wanda tilted her head in disbelief, "Hey, Clint."

"Hey, Man." Clint sighed, "Clearly retirement doesn't suit you. You got tired of shooting golf?" Tony stated, "Well, I played 18, shot 18. Just can't seem to miss." He spoke drawing back an arrow which Tony blasted before it could hit him, "First time for everything." Tony shrugged.

"Made you look," Clint stated before a car fell down beside him, several more crashing down around him wisps of red floating around them, but red turned green, the motions of falling stopping mid-air, "Why are you doing this Wanda?"

"Leigh..." Wanda breathed, "This...this isn't about you or us." she tried to explain. "I don't really want to hear your explanation right now, there really isn't any time for this." Leigh cut her off, "Tony, move before you get crushed by these cars, I can't hold them up much longer."

---

Peter and Leigh swung through the airport avoiding kicks and punches, when Peter got the chance he webbed Sam to the railing, "Those wings carbon fiber?" he asked, "Is this stuff coming out of you?" Sam asked kind of outdone, "That would explain the rigidity-flexibility ratio, which gotta say that's awesome man," Peter stated.

"That is pretty cool," Tess nodded in agreement, "I don't know  if either of you has been in a fight before but there usually isn't this much talking."

"Alright, sorry, my bad." Peter quipped, jumping off his spot, swinging forward into Bucky and Sam, throwing them back against the glass. Tess webbed Bucky's metal arm against the ground, and Peter webbed Sam.

"Guys, look, we'd love to keep this up, but we've only got one job here, today. I gotta impress Mr. Stark, so I'm sor-" he was cut off by being flown back through the glass window, Tess not too far behind him.

--

"This is not how I expected this day to turn out," Leigh muttered, standing behind where Vision was currently floating in the sky, "Captian Rogers, I know you believe what you're doing is right....but for the collective good, you must surrender now."

By this point, there was a clear divide between the Avengers, and Leigh wanted nothing more than to be back in time, at the previous Sunday team dinner, back when everything was ok. "What do we do Cap?" Sam asked quietly.

"Oh I've got an idea, let's listen to the 24-year-old who has survived med school, and would very much like a break. And have a damn conversation." Leigh quipped, "You're 24 and done with med school?" Tess asked bewildered, before quickly adding on, "Yeah not the time got it."

"We fight."

"This is such bullshit." Leigh muttered, "Which is going to end very well." Natasha added sarcastically.
