Chapter 4

-But the monsters turned out
To be just trees
And when the sun came up
You were lookin' at me-

(Out Of The Woods, Taylor Swift)

Nat's POV

Some days passed since the night Steve and I spent together. He started following me everywhere and that was very annoying, I needed some air!

And, moreover, Chris kept assigning us missions together.

One evening I was in my room after a mission, I just had a shower and I was ready to go to sleep.

I was smoking a little, when someone knocked at the door.

Without waiting an answer Steve entered the room.

-What are you doing here?- I said annoyed.

-Well... Don't get mad with me, it's not my fault, but some guys brought some girls for fun and I can't sleep because they are in the room next to mine- he said.

-So you thought you could came here?- I said looking at him.

He lowered his head.
-Well you are the one I know the most here so...-.

I threw away my cigarette and approached him.

-You don't know anything about me-.
I put my finger on his neck and started caressing it.

-Anything- I whispered to his ear.
I felt his hands on my waist and I smiled.

I bit his ear a little and I soon could feel his touch becoming stronger.
I looked at him into his eyes and he slowly leaned to me and kissed me.

At the beginning I was surprised but I found myself kissing him back.
That soft kiss soon became something more.

Steve's POV

After some hours Nat and I were in her bed, she was sleeping with her head on my shoulder while I was hugging her and keeping her close to me.

She probably wasn't feeling anything for me, the other guys told me a lot of things about her, but I didn't care. It was all part of the plan, I needed her to trust me.

I looked at her: I had to admit that she was a very beautiful woman; but she was a criminal and I was a policeman, we couldn't stay together.

Suddenly she started moving in sleep, sign that she was having a nightmeare.

-April...- she said -April no!-.

I started shaking her so she could wake up, but nothing.

She kept screaming and crying in sleep, any attempt to wake her up was useless.

-Nat! Come on wake up!- I said to her.
Suddenly, she opened her eyes and stopped moving.

She started looking around and when she saw my face she started calming a little.

-It's ok- I said hugging her.

She put her head on my chest and kept sobbing.

I caressed her hair softly, trying to calm her.

-It was just a nightmeare- I said.

-It was real, it happened for real- she said sobbing.

I sighed: I felt so bad for her, everything was against her.

-You are not alone anymore- I said.
We stayed in that position until morning.

Nat's POV

When I woke up again was morning, the sun was rising and my room was painted by a beautiful orange.

I opened my eyes and looked at the man next to me: what happened that night didn't mean nothing to me, I didn't feel anything for that man...

You like him.

Shut up consciousness!

I slowly got up and went to the bathroom. While I was under the shower I couldn't stop thinking about Steve and that surprised me a lot, he wasn't no one for me... right?

After the shower I wore some clothes (black of course) and when I came back to the bedroom Steve was ready with his clothes on.

I smiled and approached him.
-What happened tonight won't leave this room, clear?- I said.

-Or?- he said grinning.

-Or I'll have to punish you- I whispered to his ear and biting it a little.

He smiled.
-Maybe it's not that bad then- he said and I smiled.

-See you around- I said and walked away.

Later that day I was walking through the streets of the city, I had to patrol the area for a mission, when I saw Steve.

What was he doing there?

-Steve? What are yoi doing here?- I said.

He looked at me worried and the man he was talking with turned.

I stopped: that man was a policeman, I knew him very well, he was one of my ex colleagues!

-Nat...- he said.

-John...- I said and then looked at Steve -What does this mean?-.
