Thirteen
He looked grave when he walked over to me.
I started, "Mr. Kim, I-"
"Get in the car," Taehyung snapped.
I blinked. "What?"
The man looked angry. Really angry.
He grabbed my hand, and lead to me to his car. He opened the passenger door.
"Get in."
I obliged instantly. No questions asked.
He slammed it shut, making me jump. He then walked over to his side and got inside.
There was a tense silence in the car. It had me feeling a little uncomfortable.
"Mr. Kim-"
"What were you doing?" Taehyung demanded, cutting me off.
I raised an eyebrow.
"Don't give me that! You know exactly what I mean!"
Woah, woah, woah. "I don't actually, so please, do tell."
"Why did you leave without me?"
Huh?
"Don't just stay silent, Miss Yoon," he jeered. "Do answer my question."
"I wasn't informed that I couldn't leave whenever I wished," I said coldly.
"You couldn't, as a matter of fact."
Taehyung set me a hard stare. "You were my responsibility. You came to the party with me. Then I don't see why you left all of a sudden."
I broke the stare. "I was not enjoying the party at all. I felt like leaving."
"Then you should have told me!" Taehyung exclaimed.
I scoffed. "Oh, you were so busy with all your worshippers, I wouldn't dare disturb you."
A loud slap on the steering wheel made me jump again.
"Look at me," Taehyung growled.
Like an idiot, I obeyed. Though when I saw the dark gleam in his black eyes, I was glad I did.
"I have no interest whatsoever in people whose only objective is to kiss my ass. I only wanted to see where Jungkook was, but he wasn't even there."
"Oh, he was at the party, alright," I snapped. "But he was all alone, crying in another room."
Taehyung stopped. "What?" he furrowed his eyebrows. "How do you know that?"
"Because I saw him crying. Poor thing doesn't even want to get married."
I set Taehyung a hard glare. "And you," I spat, pointing at him, "Knew about it."
The man blinked, as if finding out for the first time. "So?"
"So?" I scoffed. "You didn't even help him? Oh, you were too busy having fun an engagement party that shouldn't be happening."
"Listen, Miss Yoon," Taehyung muttered. "First of all, I hated the party. I didn't want to go, but it would have boosted your relationship with Sir Jeon, resulting with more collaborations.
"Second of all," Taehyung continued, "I've argued about this not only with my mother, but with Jungkook himself and his parents as well."
He sighed. "It's the boy himself. He always tells me not to fight with his parents. It's so aggravating."
"Why does he tell you not to?" I asked.
"He's afraid of Sir Jeon. Doesn't want to be cut off of the business, and be shunned in fame."
Taehyung scoffed. "And you know what? That's so fucking annoying."
He gripped the wheel so tight I was surprised it didn't snap. "I'd rather have my reputation ruined then let people walk all over me. If I was in shoes, I would outright refuse.
"Who are my parents to decide my life? Are they going to live it? No. I'm going to live it. So everyone else can just shove their opinions right up their asshole."
Taehyung let out a heavy breath.
I only stared at him. Clearly he'd been bottling this up for a long time.
He leaned his head back, closing his eyes. His neck glistened in the light of the car, along with his blonde curls.
"You're right."
He opened one eye to look at me.
"I wouldn't want other people telling me what to do either," I admitted. "In fact, I hate it."
Taehyung started the car, the engine roaring to life. "The feeling is mutual, Miss Yoon."
He slammed his foot on the accelerator, and the car zoomed past the estate.
"So..." I started, hating myself for asking this, "You didn't enjoy those women gushing all over you?"
Taehyung glanced at me, feline amusement on his face. "It did satisfy my ego greatly."
His smirk grew. "They're many things I want to enjoy, Miss Yoon, but don't get to. This was not one of them."
They're many things I want to enjoy, Miss Yoon, but don't get to.
"E-eyes on the road, Mr. Kim," I stammered.
He chuckled, looking ahead. "Yes, Miss Yoon."
Taehyung turned to the main road, heading directly towards Seoul.
"Sorry," I blurted out.
Taehyung's eyes were rooted at the front. "What for?"
"Accusing you. Saying things that were false."
"It's alright, you know."
"No, it's not," I mumbled, looking out the window.
It wasn't. I was an honest person. Why should I pretend that I didn't act like a bitch?
"You might think it is, Miss Yoon, but really, I don't mind." A soft snort excaped him. "I understand how you feel."
"So it won't be solved, then?" I asked. "Jungkook would go along with his dad's plans?"
"The boy's not brave enough to say no," Taehyung said. "Which will cost him. I want to be a good friend to him, but how can I help him when he doesn't want to be helped?"
I said nothing, just staring out the window.
The car ride home was silent. Taehyung dropped me off at my apartment building.
He was shaking his head at the sight of it. "We're gonna have to do something about that."
I ignored the little comment, waving him goodbye.
Entering the apartment, I instantly stripped off the dress and jumped on my bed.
I was out in an instant.
-
A phone call woke me up.
I grabbed the phone and answered it. "Yeah?"
"Mr. Kim is expecting you at his headquarters in half an hour. Please arrive in that time."
The call ended.
Ugh. I got off the bed and went to the bathroom to take a quick shower.
I put on a buttoned up blue shirt and black jeggings, braiding my hair loosely.
I grabbed my phone and left the apartment.
A taxi rode me to the V Headquarters. I went inside and up the twenty bloody floors until I reached the office.
The secretary nodded at me. "He'll see you now."
I nodded back, and entered.
Taehyung was standing in front of his desk, wearing a huge black coat and jeans. He had a wheeled suitcase beside him.
Wait, what?
"Good morning, Miss Yoon," he greeted, a strange sense of excitement in his voice.
"You seem... giddy," I said, walking over to him.
"Oh, indeed I am," Taehyung agreed.
He then gripped the handle of his suitcase. "And I hope you're too because you're coming with me to Paris!"
