Eighteen
Are you busy? I need to see you.
That message was soon followed by a call.
"Who is it?"
I showed Taehyung the phone screen. Jungkook's face buzzed on it.
I could have sworn the man's face darkened. "Oh."
"Just give me a second," I said, swiping right.
I pressed the phone to my ear. "Hi, Jungkook, what's up?"
"You're not at the hotel?" the boy's voice sounded in my ear. Concern wavered it.
"Uh, no, I checked out this morning," I said.
"You should have told me that," he scolded. "I got worried that something happened to you."
"Don't worry about me, Jungkook, I'm okay," I assured him.
There was a pause from the other end when he spoke. "Where are you right now? Did I disturb you?"
I looked to the man in front of me, glaring at the city skyline. "No, I was just touring Paris with Taehyung. We were nearly done anyway. Why?"
"I...Can I see you? There's something important I must tell you."
"Yeah, sure," I said. "Where should I come meet you?"
Taehyung made a face. I made one right back.
"The Park Headquarters?"
"That's okay," I said. "I'll see you there."
"Thank you Sora," Jungkook murmured through the line. "Bye."
I ended the call, looking at Taehyung. "I must go to Headquarters."
Taehyung let go of the railing. "To meet Jungkook?"
I nodded. He set his jaw, pursing his lips.
"Has he...has he told you why?"
Raising an eyebrow, I answered, "...no?"
"Hmm," he got out. He turned on his heel and went to the elevator.
Stunned, I followed him there, Taehyung pressing the button.
We went down the tower in silence.
I wasn't stupid. I knew why Taehyung's mood changed so quickly.
But why Jungkook? Aren't those two best friends?
The lift doors opened up, and we stepped out, heading back to the Headquarters.
We reached our destination, the sun gone, and the moon shining on the city.
As we reached the doors, Taehyung stopped. "I should go."
I put my hand on the door knob. "You can come if you want."
The man put his hands in his pockets. "Oh, I already know what he's going to talk about."
"Oh," I said.
"If he asks if I'm coming," Taehyung said, "Tell him I can't."
Where though? "Alright," I replied. "Thank you...for today."
Taehyung's lips slid to the side. "My pleasure."
And with that, he left, heading to the car park.
After a few minutes I saw him ride past me in a black sports car.
I stared at the car until it faded out of sight.
Entering the building, I was greeted with Jungkook smiling brightly at me. "Sora!"
He squeezed me in a hug. I tried hugging him back, but it was a struggle.
The boy let go, smiling once again. "It's so good to see you!"
I laughed at his enthusiasm. "I'm just your average model, Jungkook," I said.
His cheeks reddened slightly as he chuckled nervously. "You're more to me than that, Sora."
"Aww, Jungkook," I cooed, nudging the boy as I proceeded forward to the main lounge.
He followed, sitting himself down on the sofa next to mine.
"So what did you want to tell me?" I asked him.
"Well, I'm having another party tomorrow at Jimin's estate outside Paris," Jungkook explained. "And I really want you to come."
"Anything specific?" I asked.
"Well, uh, actually..." Jungkook trailed off, blushing.
I raised my brow. "What?"
"Actually, it's my birthday tomorrow," he said.
Wait- "What?!"
"24 in a day," he added.
"Oh my God, I must come!" I exclaimed.
"Please do," Jungkook said, "Because Taehyung probably isn't coming and-"
Tell him I can't.
"Has he said anything?" I muttered. "About him coming?"
Jungkook shook his head. "He hasn't said much." He looked to me, smiling sadly. "I don't blame him though, Sora. He's just so busy."
I made a disgusted face. "He should at least make time to come to his best friend's birthday."
The boy shrugged. "It's alright, really," he said. "At least he remembers, you know?"
I nodded, yet that still didn't forgive his behaviour.
Taehyung should go. It's his best friend after all.
But who am I to say? Kim Taehyung does what he wants.
-
The next day was filled with photoshoots.
Yet it was not filled with Taehyung's presence.
Every time the cameramen took a shot of me, my eyes would drift to the door, hoping the haughty designer would burst through it and start snapping orders.
The thought of it aggravated me. Why am I waiting for him? Let him sulk all he want.
I tried calling Somi during lunch, but she didn't pick up. It worried me for a long while, but the party looming over me slid the thought out.
I was an hour away from leaving when I realised I had nothing to wear whatsoever.
Going up to the dressing room, I scowered the place to find any decent, formal clothing I could shrug on.
My eyes caught sight of a transperent chest of drawers.
I went over to it, and opened the drawers.
Designer clothes were folded neatly and a wrapped up present.
There was a note sitting atop the clothing. I opened it.
Due to your ill organisation, I came up here and unpacked your stuff. Give the present to Jungkook. He's going to love it.
P.S. Wear the black dress. Slay them all.
I put down the note, and searched for the black dress he mentioned.
There it is.
I took it out, smoothing it down.
No wonder Taehyung told me to wear it.
Going to a nearby cubicle, I quickly showered, and put on the dress.
It fit perfectly, hugging every part of me, draping down. It was sleeveless, and left my collarbone and back bare to the world.
The sparkles had me giggling. They were perfect.
The whole dress was perfect.
Hoseok entered the room just as I was putting my hair up in a bun.
He instantly refused. "Absolutely not."
Then, despite my arguing, he blow dried my hair and curled it loosely to make long waves.
He also dug out a necklace.
A necklace of diamonds.
"I had it buried in my jewellery box for a while," Hoseok said casually. "Hold on, I've got matching earrings as well."
After doing my make up, Hoseok led me to the front where Jungkook waited.
He saw me and gasped.
"What?" I looked down at myself.
"Sora..." the boy put a hand on his mouth, eyes wide. His cheeks reddened.
"What's wrong, Jungkook?" I asked, slightly concerned that he might be sick.
"I..."
"Jungkook's cock just shot up looking at you," Hoseok crowed, stepping beside me. "And I'm not surprised, really."
I gave Hoseok an incredulous look. "That's disgusting coming from you."
"Jungkook's too shook to tell you, so it might as well be me," he only said. "Now, let's go, guys, we have a party to attend!"
-
We got inside Jimin's estate, the place gigantic and luxurious.
Hundreds of people milled about. I had recognised faces of some yet others I did not know.
Jungkook still blushed everytime I smiled at him. I kept the present with me still as you had to give it at a certain time.
Jimin had come up to us, yet one look at the food section had me running over to it.
Snacks and deserts of all kinds lingered on a big white table, accompanied by a chocolate fountain in the middle.
I took a strawberry from the fruit section and dipped it under the flowing chocolate.
Taking a bite, I nearly moaned. It was divine.
I stayed at the food section like a greedy pig for the first half hour, looking over anyone I could converse with, but didn't bother.
Who needs people when you have food, am I right?
"Oh my God!"
"There he is!"
All the loud conversations ended. All the talking stopped.
Everyone's eyes slid to the steps at the entrance.
Stared at the god on earth who now walked down them.
