After searching the mansion for over an hour Klaus and Elijah decided to visit Marcel and see if he had taken the two girls.

"Good evening!" Klaus boomed, turning to Marcel. "I'd like a word."

"What do you think you're doing?" Marcel glared at the two Original's.

"It appears that we've interrupted a collection of filthy amateurs!" Elijah refrained from laughing. "We've come here for the girls. Give them to us, or we kill everyone here, starting with you."

"You two got a lot of nerve, coming into my home and making demands."

Klaus gave him a fake smile, "Your home, is it?"

"The girls!" Elijah yelled angrily. "I will not ask again."

"I assume you're talking about Hayley? Who is she, anyway?" he crossed his arms over his chest.

"She's an old friend," the hybrid lied. "You know how sentimental I am about old friends."

"And Madison was there too. Now, I wanna know what the hell my girl was doing at your place," Marcel glared.

"Madison and I are," Klaus paused for a moment to think of an appropriate word. "Two powerful beings working towards a common goal. And I don't believe she's your girl anymore."

"Well, I ain't got them. And before you start whining, I did pay them a little visit earlier tonight. I was feeling nostalgic, so I took a trip out to the plantation where I used to be a slave. And, imagine my surprise when I realized that the Original family of vampires had taken up residence. Your 'friends', Hayley and Maddy, answered the door, we exchanged hellos, that was it. You don't believe me? Look around. Hell, I'll even help you find them. But the question that I'd ask is: if they aren't here, then where is they?"

-

Madison woke with a gasp, panicking as she took in her unfamiliar surroundings. Her wrists were bound and so were her sister's as she lay unconscious next to her. The witch shook the werewolf to wake her up but she was out cold. Madison kicked the back window to escape the moving car but it came to a halt before she could break it.

The trunk of the car was opened and Madison kicked the man in the gut.

"Seriously?" he asked in annoyance.

"Tyler?" Madison furrowed her brow, recognising him from her time in Mystic Falls.

"You don't wanna fight me, Madison. You know you can't beat a hybrid," he stepped closer to her with a zip-tie but the witch sent him flying back with her telekinesis.

Madison jumped out of the trunk and started to run but Tyler caught up with her easily, grabbing her ankles and binding them together with the zip-ties so she couldn't run away.

Madison screamed loudly, "Let me go, you backstabbing half-breed piece of shi – "

"Shut up!" Tyler yelled as Hayley woke up.

He threw Madison over his shoulder and dragged Hayley roughly behind him as they walked down the road.

-

The trio arrived in some encampments in the Bayou, Tyler throwing Madison onto the poor a shack.

"What is this place?" Hayley looked around them in confusion.

"The armpit of Louisiana," Madison rolled her eyes. She had been out here once before, over a decade ago, although she couldn't remember why. The witch's eyes widened when Tyler pulled a knife from his pocket. "What are you gonna do with that?"

"That depends on you," he cut the ties on both girl's ankles.

"Hey, you attacked us, remember?" Hayley fired. "You ambushed us, in out own backyard."

"It's not your backyard, it's Klaus'! You're shacked up in that mansion with that psycho," he turned to the wolf. "A long way from the girl I've met in the Appalachians, helping other werewolves."

"Tyler, I'm sorry, but a lot has happened since the last time I saw you," she pleaded.

"You mean that you found your half sister who's pregnant? A hybrid baby, yeah, I know all about it. I've been roaming around the Bayou, asking questions. Let me tell you what I learned!" He pulled at Madison's backless sweater, revealing the crescent shaped birthmark on her shoulder. He did the same to Hayley. "This crescent birthmark means you come from a big-shot family. Some kind of royalty for the werewolves of this region. And right here – this is all that's left of them."

Tyler gestured around them and the sisters looked around seeing more shacks and tents that were made out of blankets.

Hayley spotted a blonde girl watching them, "Hey! Help us!"

But the woman ran away as soon as she had called out to her.

"They can't help you! They're in the woods, hiding, because they were persecuted for decades by vampires," Tyler explained, another man joining him.

"Is that her?" he asked, pointing at Madison.

"Yeah, Dwayne. Get her inside," the Hybrid sighed, picking up Hayley.

"Tyler? Tyler!" Madison screamed as Dwayne picked her up.

-

Klaus and Elijah trekked through the Bayou to continue their search for Madison and Hayley, making idle chit chat as they walked.

"You seem quite determined to find the werewolf," Klaus observed.

"If I'm moving too fast for you, Niklaus, you're welcome to wait in the car," Elijah raised an eyebrow at his younger brother. "Do be certain to leave the windows down."

"Ah, so I've touched a nerve? You've begun to admire this girl. Perhaps that's why you've been barking orders since your return, hoping to impress Hayley by assuming the role of family patriarch," he smirked.

"Perhaps I'm not the only one. I see the way you look at Madison. You used to look at Tatia that way," his older brother pointed out.

"If you know how much I care for her, then you'll know that I will do anything to get her back," Klaus stopped walking and sniffed the air.

"Have you found her scent?"

The pair came across an SUV and Klaus began to search through its contents.

The Hybrid groaned, "No, but I found someone else's. This vehicle reeks of someone I thought I was rid of... Tyler Lockwood."

"And why would your little hybrid-sidekick from Mystic Falls have any interest in Hayley and Madison?"

"He wants revenge because I went after his girl," Klaus shrugged.

He hadn't thought about being with Caroline since before he met Madison. He didn't want her anymore. Caroline was too simple, Madison however...

Elijah sighed in annoyance, "Why do I suspect this is the least of your offenses?"

"Back when I had the means to sire hybrids, he was my first, Although, I didn't give him much choice in the matter," Klaus pulled a blanket out of the car and sniffed it. "He was loyal in the beginning, but he grew insubordinate, turned my other hybrids against me. I couldn't have that, so I massacred the lot of them. Tyler ran like a coward before I could finish him off."

The older Original sighed again, but this time in frustration, "Anything else that you would like to share?"

"Well, there was this business with his mum," his red lips turned up into a smirk.

"You killed his mother. Wonderful," Elijah spoke incredulously.

"He needed to be taught a lesson!"

"And what lesson will you be taught, Niklaus, if he retaliates by harming Hayley?"

"So you do care about her. Well, go on, have at it. Claim what spoils you can," Klaus teased. "If she's anything like her sister then I'm sure she's exquisite."

"Niklaus, so help me," the dark haired Original warned.

"Enough. I'll kill Tyler Lockwood myself," Klaus sped away to find Tyler.

-

Madison and Hayley were both tied to a stove in the shack, neither one of them spoke in case Tyler heard.

The Supreme's head had been spinning with questions and possible answers since she was kidnapped from her backyard. She finally built up the courage to ask when Tyler reentered the small shack.

"Tyler, there's been a wolf watching me lately. Protecting me, like it instinctively knows that I'm somehow part of its pack," Madison paused for a moment before continuing. "You're a hybrid, you can turn into a wolf whenever you want. Was it you?"

The confusion on his face convinced her that he was telling the truth, "No, but you're right – only hybrids can control when they change. And I'm the only one left, besides Klaus. Which is why we're here."

"Whatever you think you're doing, you know that whole Original family has made some sort of pact, or something, to keep me, Madison and the baby safe. So, if you hurt either of us, they'll kill you," Hayley warned him.

"What makes you think I'm afraid to die?" Tyler's eyes were tired of waking up everyday, a feeling Madison knew all too well. Dwayne entered the shack and Tyler turned to him. "You ready for this?"

He nodded, "Let's do it."

The hybrid dug around in his back and pulled out a large needle, Madison's palms beginning to sweat nervously.

"What are you doing?" the blonde gulped as Dwayne held her down and Tyler crouched in front of her. "Let me go! Tyler, please. No! Tyler!"

"Klaus destroyed everything good in my life! So, I'm gonna take away the thing he wants most!" there was an evil glint in his eyes and that scared Madison the most.

"Forget the Original's, if you do anything to hurt this baby it's me that's gonna kill you!" Madison screamed in pain as Tyler jammed the needle into her stomach.

He took some of her blood and removed the needle, slamming it into Dwayne's neck. A loud crack could be heard throughout the room as the werewolf fell to the floor dead.

-

Tyler lifted the dead body off the floor with ease and dragged him to the other side of the room, Hayley glaring at him as he did.

"Don't get all judgy!" Tyler looked told Hayley, looking over at Madison who had been far too quiet. "Dwayne knew what he was getting into. He volunteered!"

"For you to kill him?" Hayley rolled her eyes.

"Dwayne is a werewolf who died with her blood in his system. The same blood she shares with her hybrid baby," the hybrid grinned.

Realisation covered her face, "You're trying to turn him into a hybrid? That's impossible!"

Madison snapped her head to face Tyler at this news and he started glaring at her.

"I've been running with wolf packs all over the country. One of them was tight with a witch. She had nightmare visions about your baby and how Klaus could use its blood to make an army of hybrid slaves," the Lockwood boy informed.

"I am sick of these witches and their premonitions about my niece," Hayley fed. "It's just a baby!"

He shrugged, "Maybe. Maybe not. That's where Dwayne comes in. You see, he was happy to be the test case. If you haven't noticed, these people don't have much to live for. They'd all welcome the chance to become the superior species. Trouble is, all hybrids are sired to Klaus. They follow his every move," he grabbed a knife from his bag and put it on the table. "No way I let that happen."

"How can you be so sure Klaus knows what the baby's blood will do?" Madison looked up at him.

"What do you think? Klaus Mikaelson, killer of men, women and puppies, all of a sudden wants to be a daddy? Or, he's got an ulterior motive. Hybrids can walk in the sun. Their bite is lethal to vampires. They'll take over New Orleans by the end of the week. And you know what's going to stop Klaus then? Nothing," Dwayne woke up and Tyler briefly glanced at Madison once again before turning back to him. "You're gonna have to feed on her."

Tyler gripped the knife in his hand and walked towards her, Madison starting to squirm as he grabbed her arm. He sliced her neck and she let out a yell.

"Do it," he commanded.

Dwayne ignored her screams and fed from her neck, falling to the floor after a moment. Tyler dragged the newly turned Hybrid outside, leaving Hayley and Madison alone. Madison tried to reach for the knife but couldn't reach, but Hayley managed to grab a broken chair leg.

Tyler returned with a grim look, shock covering both girls faces.

"It worked, didn't it? He's a hybrid," Hayley asked while Madison bit her lip, staying silent.

"If Klaus gets a hold of Madison, if he gets that kid? He wins."

"Then help me hide the baby from him!" Madison suggested. "You think I want my kid to grow up with a psychotic dad? Help me run!"

"He'll find you, he'll take your kid away, and he'll make more hybrid monsters. Slaves who do everything he says."

Hayley looked terrified for her sister, "Tyler, whatever you're thinking of doing, there has to be another way. You're not like this!"

He shook his head and walked towards the werewolf, but when he got close she stabbed him in the stomach with a broken chair leg.

He yelled in pain and pulled out the stake, "That was stupid!"

"Get away from them!" Dwayne yelled, running into the shack.

"What do you care?"

"I said get away!"

"You got what you wanted, now get lost!" Tyler yelled in annoyance.

"Dwayne, he's gonna kill me! And he's gonna kill you, too! He said that hybrids are too dangerous to live!" Madison pleaded desperately. "You need to stop him!"

"SHUT UP!" Tyler yelled as Dwayne came up behind him, throwing him across the room.

Tyler landed on the floor and Dwayne tackled him once he got up. Madison noticed that the knife was now in reach and grabbed it, cutting herself free before moving to help Hayley. They moved quietly out of the shack, careful not to get caught.

"What now?" Hayley panted slightly.

"You need to find your way back home," Madison instructed. "I'm going to kill Tyler."

"What? Maddy, no. I'm not leaving you here," her sister frowned.

"You don't actually get a choice," the blonde rolled her eyes and then vanished into thin air.

"What the hell?" Hayley muttered as she searched around for her younger sister.

Hayley began to run, deciding that she should find Klaus to help her track Madison. She stopped for a moment to catch her breath when she heard something approaching. The werewolf turned, knife still in hand and ready to attack and a hand stopped her.

"Forgive me! I thought you were in danger. It appears I was mistaken," Elijah told the frightened girl, letting go of her hand.

Hayley sighed in relief and wrapped her arms around him, "You will not believe the crap day I'm having."

"I'll take you home," he guided her with an arm around her waist. "Where's Madison?"

"I don't know. We were running and then she just disappeared," Hayley stopped walking. "Elijah, there's something you need to know about the baby."

-

"MADISON! Don't make this harder than it has to be! Give up now," Tyler called out angrily as he searched random tents for her. "I'll end it quick."

"Quite an offer!" Klaus smirked as he appeared behind him. "Though, not one I'll be extending to you."

Tyler braced himself for a fight as he greeted his sire, "Klaus."

"Hello, Tyler. You look well! I aim to change that," he smiled. "Threatening a pregnant girl in order to exact revenge against me? I never expected you to sink so low! I admit, I'm impressed!"

Klaus walked towards him but Tyler backed away to create more distance.

"Used to hang out with you. I guess something must have rubbed off."

"What would Caroline say if she saw what you've become? Perhaps I'll ask her when I call her to tell her of your demise."

The younger hybrid laughed, "Whatever happens to me, Caroline's never going to stop hating you!"

"Not interested in her anymore," the Original smirked as he ran forward, tossing Tyler into a tree. "Come on, mate! Give it a bit more effort! I want to enjoy myself."

Tyler glared at his sire for a moment, but ran away from him at the last minute. Klaus just grinned, waiting a moment before chasing after him.

-

"Is this your idea of revenge, Tyler? A grueling game of hide-and-seek?" Klaus called out, searching through tents while Tyler ran up behind him and stabbed a stake through his chest. Klaus backhanded him, pulled out the stake and glared at the younger hybrid. "Let's end this, shall we?"

The two continued to glare at each other before they jumped forward with their hybrid faces. Tyler tackled Klaus, the pair rolling down a hill in front of the shack Madison and Hayley had earlier been trapped in. The Lockwood boy punched the Original in the face, but Klaus retaliated by grabbing him in a chokehold.

"How dare you!" Klaus fumed.

"I'm just getting started," Tyler staked him in the side.

"You've grown bloodthirsty. Perhaps it's best your mother didn't live to see you like this," he let out a devilish laugh, making Tyler even more angry as he began to pummel his sire in the face. Klaus grabbed his fist and flipped them over so that he was on top, pulling the stake from his side and shoving it in Tyler's chest. "It's sad, really. I thought I made you better. Turns out you're quite the disappointment."

Tyler pulled the stake from his chest as they got up and threw it aside.

"I guess I'm another one of your failures. Like how you failed at making hybrids. How you failed your family!" he approached Klaus with a smile. "Now it looks like you're going to fail your own kid!"

This hit a nerve with Klaus and he pinned Tyler against a tree by the threat.

"And thus ends your tedious little life. At least it was brief!" he smirked as he reached into Tyler's chest and grabbed his heart.

He struggled to speak as he gasped for breath, "Do it! You're never gonna break me! Only thing you can do is kill me, so go on! Go on, get it over with!"

Klaus chuckled to himself, "Ah, you want me to end your suffering, don't you? Hmm? I did break you! I took everything from you, and now you're begging me to sweep away the shards of your shattered little life," he continued to stare at Tyler for a moment, and when he thought the Original was about to kill him, he pulled his hand from his chest, leaving his heart intact. His bloody hand wrapped around his throat momentarily. "Death offers more peace than you deserve. It's better to let you live. And each morning, you will wake knowing your wretched existence continues only by my will."

Klaus smirked as he began to compel Tyler, "Now go, and live the rest of your days knowing that you are nothing to me."

Klaus turned to walk away from the scene when a familiar voice called out to him.

"That was, like, the most pathetic fight I've ever seen," he looked up at her sitting on the porch of the shack. "He got so many hits in I honestly thought for a second that he might win."

"Madison," he sighed in relief. "Are you okay?"

"Well, your backstabbing, halfbreed piece of shit tried to kill me and failed, but I think I'm doing fine," her stomach growled and she laughed sheepishly. "I'm really hungry though."

-

The two sat on the porch, Klaus telling her more about his past, and Madison telling him about hers while they waited for Elijah and Hayley.

"Do you think there's a chance my mom could still be alive?" Madison looked up at him through her dark lashes. "I mean, I know it could've been anyone that sent me the cello, but she used to play it when I was little, and she's the only person that's ever called me their 'dearest Madison'."

"I don't think it's impossible, especially in the world of the supernatural, but I wouldn't get your hopes up."

"In all honesty, I don't want her to be alive," she shook her head. "Because I've spent the last 13 years living without her, and I'm not sure I'd know how to live with her. But another part of my wants her to be alive so I can tell her that she's the reason I'm so messed up, and that I hate her."

"If your mother is alive, I promise I'll help you find her," he placed his hand on top of hers.

Tears began to pool in her eyes, "I'm scared I'm gonna turn out like her."

"You are nothing like that woman," Klaus denied, placing his fingers under her chin so that she was forced to look at him. "And you'll never be like her."

Madison felt herself being pulled towards him, their faces inches away. His hot breath fanning her face, her hazel eyes staring into his blue ones. Her soft lips touched his, lightly at first, and then as she became more certain she kissed him harder. Nothing had felt more right in his whole life, and she felt the same.

-

Hayley and Elijah approached the shack, pissed of expressions on their faces, although Hayley's held a hint of relief when she saw her sister safe.

"There you are! I see you've found our wandering stray. Perhaps you could shed some light on the situation. This," Klaus kicked the dead Hybrid in front of them. "Appears to be a hybrid."

"His name was Dwayne," Madison recalled, having forgotten to explain the situation to Klaus before.

"Well, whoever it was, I didn't sire him. Any idea how that's possible?"

"As if you didn't know!" Hayley spat, Elijah holding her back and standing in front of her protectively.

"No, Hayley, he really doesn't know," the Supreme said, but was ignored.

"Ah, well, aren't you two fast friends? Oh, come on, then. What kind of horrible accusation have you conspired to levy against me?" Klaus folded his arms over his chest.

"Tyler Lockwood brought Madison here to test a theory," Klaus nodded for him to continue. "That the blood of her child could be used to sire hybrids. He claims that you knew that. Furthermore, that you intended to use this knowledge to build an army."

"And, of course, you assume it's true. I mean, why else would I show interest in my own flesh and blood? A heartbroken little crybaby points his finger at me, and my own brother falls in line, eager to believe it! How quickly you believe the worst, especially when it comes from her," the Hybrid glared at Hayley, clearly hurt and angry.

Madison placed a hand on his arm, knowing how it felt to have people you had always trusted turn against you under false accusations.

"Oh, spare me your indignation. When have you ever demonstrated any kind of concern towards Hayley or her child, beyond your own selfish pursuits? And what was it you once said to me?" He looked at his little brother as he began to impersonate him. "'Every king needs an heir!'"

"My big brother. So, you doubt my intentions? Well, I can't say I'm surprised, standing next to the noble Elijah, how can I be anything but the lesser brother? A liar, a manipulator, a bastard," the two stared each other down as Klaus approached his brother, Elijah regretting what he had said. "That's all I am to you, isn't it? And Rebekah. And, judging by the way Hayley hangs on your every word, it's clear she feels the same way! No doubt my child will as well."

Elijah's voice was kinder, "Brother, if – "

"You've said all that needs to be said, brother," Klaus stepped back and held his arms out in defeat. "I'll play the role I've been given."

He turned around, as if he were going to walk back to Madison but he quickly turned back to Elijah, burying his fangs in his neck. Hayley screamed and ran to his side while Madison stood there, not knowing what to do.

Klaus wiped his mouth with his hand, "You two enjoy each other's company. You'll have much to bond over, once the hallucinations and dementia set in. Consider that bite to be my parting gift to you both."

Klaus walked away from the three, his anger radiating off him. Madison ran after the retreating Hybrid, panting a little when she finally caught up.

"Klaus, please – "

"I don't expect you to understand."

"You think I don't? My dad didn't want me, neither did my mom, my coven kicked me out. I've never belonged anywhere either," she held his hand. "But I when I'm with you I feel like I do, so don't tell me I don't understand. I know what they said hurt you, but Elijah is still your family. I spent my whole life looking for my family, why would you give yours up so easily?"

"You want family? Go get them," he frowned before storming off, leaving the two sisters with his sick brother.

-

The two girls helped Elijah into the shack. Madison left to make something that would help slow down the bite while Elijah and Hayley looked through the shack for anything interesting.

Madison reentered the shack, a small bowl filled with what seemed to be mud in her hands.

"You're thinking about Klaus," Hayley looked over at the Original.

Madison pointed for him to sit, which he obliged and she began to put the mud on the bite.

Elijah sighed, "Perhaps I was too willing to condemn him. In the thousand years that we have been together, my brother has committed numerous unspeakable acts. But, then again, so has Rebekah. So have I."

"So did I, the last time I was in Cabo," Elijah looked at Hayley in confusion.

"We've all done bad things. It's just, most people die before the list gets embarrassing," Madison shrugged.

"But, don't for a second compare yourself to Klaus," Hayley added on. The comment made Madison frown, but then she began to smirk when the two couldn't stop staring at each their. "It's like a freaking hot-box in here, I'm gonna get some air."

Hayley left and Madison turned to Elijah with a raised brow.

"What?" He furrowed his brow.

"Why didn't you do something?" Madison placed a hand on her hip. "Kiss her, complement her, I don't care, just don't do that weird stare thing. It's kinda creepy."

Elijah had a hint of a smile on his lips as he walked outside to join Hayley. Madison put the bowl on the table when she felt her nose beginning to drip. She wiped it away only to find blood.

It began to bleed more profusely, and then she began to cough. More blood came when she did and she started to choke. Madison fell to the floor, a pool of her own blood surrounding her.

And then her heart stopped.
