Chapter 9: Determination of the Jades
Back to the Jades...
The Jades had their eyes on the pangolin as he tried to find a way inside the house. "Should we at least try calling them?" Zuna suggested, referring to their friends. The older brother sighed, shaking his head. "They'll be too busy fighting the Shadow Rangers. Who knows how long it will take until they realize it's a trap. We're on our own in this one little sister" he explained to her serious yet concerned.
However, as much as he hate to admit it, the Wild Rangers were right on one thing earlier. They lacked magic powers. Still, that didn't mean they were completely vulnerable. Lóng remembered something and immediately stood up to his feet. His sister stared at him curiously. "Keep an eye on Shanjiâ. I'll be right back" he instructed her before taking off. Zuna turned back to the window, looking worried as she watched their intruder.
Her eyes glanced the communicator, the small little device lying on the floor. Honey had given it to her incase they needed help. "It wouldn't hurt to try" she told herself. While true the rangers were in a mission, there just might be a chance that maybe one of them will answer. She picked up the gadget and started typing in a text message to her friends on what's happening. Of course she was staying vigilant. Her cute green eyes kept glancing at Shanjiâ repeatedly while texting.
Meanwhile, the Shadow Ranger was still trying to find a way inside. "Hmmm. How do I get inside? I can try using my smash ball move..." he suggested to himself, his eyes scanning his surroundings. He spotted a corner which led to the backyard. Curious and wondering if there might be a way in, Shanjiâ made his way over to the backyard.
Zuna was still watching and saw him moving away. She had finished sending a bunch of text messages to all the rangers, hoping that they will answer. She got up and picked up one of her nerf guns before dashing out the room to keep an eye on the pangolin.
Shanjiâ made it to the backyard yard, analyzing his surroundings. But his eyes widen when he saw the back door open. That was his way in. It was left open earlier when the Wild Rangers left for their mission.
He smirked and chuckled at seeing his opportunity on catching the siblings had gotten better. "Haha! You humans are so forgetful. You have left an advantage opened for me. Now there's nowhere to hide" he said confident as he entered the house.
Zuna arrived and at that moment, she spotted him entering the house but he didn't spot her yet. She gasped in surprise, seeing their problem got worse. She quickly ran to look for her brother.
Lóng was in his parents' bedroom, scanning around for something specific. His blue eyes spotted this blue staff with white and gold details, formed into the Chinese dragon resting on a pedestal. That was what he was looking for.
He ran around the bed before standing in front if it, staring at it. The bo staff was simple yet elegant. Lóng put his hands together and bowed to it in respect. "Pardon me father. But I need to use your staff to protect my sister and our home" he said in respect. The staff use to belonged to his father. He remembered the skills his father taught him. Plus he had watched him use it before his passing.
"Lóng!" He heard his sister yell and he turned to the doorway. Zuna came running in with worry on her face and a nerf gun in her hands. "Shanjiâ's in the house! We left the back door open by mistake!" She told him worried. His eyes widen, not expecting for their intruder to get in.
"Oh little humans! Come out and play!" Shanjâ called out from below, chuckling evilly. Lóng grabbed the staff and made his way to the doorway. He turned around, looking at his sister seriously.
"Stay here. I'll go deal with Shanjiâ. If I get defeated or captured, you need to get out of the house ok?" He explained to her. Even with martial arts, Lóng wasn't sure if he could defeat Shanjiâ. The least he could do is keep him busy until the rangers came or that Zuna can get away.
"Let me help. I already sent a text to our friends. But I can help too!" She told him, worried for his safety. Lóng shook his head in disagreement. "No Zuna. We're on our own in this one. Even if the rangers come, it might be too late. Just stay here and don't do anything crazy" he told her firmly before closing the door to deal with their enemy.
Zuna glared at him annoyed. She had faith in their friends and knew they would come soon. Even if it took awhile, they wouldn't abandon them. They would come. Until then, it was up to both of them to fight back Shanjâ.
"Our friends will come! And I can help take down Shanjiâ!" She said determined and persistent and ran to the door, opening it and rushing out of the room to aid in the fight.
