Chapter 11: The Tables Turn

Back to the Wild Rangers...

Tyge and Lapara were still in the magic shield. Venoma kept pelting the shield with her scales, laughing at them. The snow leopard felt herself getting exhausted from holding the magic shield too long, her arms aching at holding it.

"Tyge! We need a plan now! I can't hold this shield forever!" She told him urgently. Each hit to the shield weakened. Lapara was unsure how long she can hold it. Tyge glanced at her worried. He had to get them out of the way so she could regain her strength. He couldn't find any way to get them out.

Jag was watching by the cobra's sude, waiting for Tyge to get out of the shield so he may strike at him. He smirked, knowing the tiger couldn't stay in that shield.

Bzz! Bzz!

The white tiger felt a vibration on his waist and he looked down. His communicator was buzzing on his belt. He pulled it out and read who it was from. Zuna. He rolled his eyes at her "Z. I mean it if you asking to clean up your room-" he started to complained as he opened it up. But when he read the message, his blue eyes widen in shock and alarm. It was a message on Shanjiâ being at the house and how this mission was a distraction to catch the Jades.

Tyge let out a long breath, stunned. "Looks like Horus was right about Shanjiâ not being here for a reason" he told himself worried. His ears perked at a grunt and he turned around. Lapara had fallen onto one knee, her ears down as her strength weaken and she struggled to keep the shield up. The shield flickered, weakening like its holder.

Tyge turned around and saw Jag got down to the floor, hiding in the shadows. The panther grinned at him, waiting for the right moment to pounce the moment the shield is done. Tyge glared at him as the panther went back in the shadows, camouflaged, his green eyes the last thing shown.

The white tiger wanted to burst out of the shield and chase after him. But then a thought hit him. He glanced at the communicator and back at Lapara. Leaving her while weaken would likely make her an easy target. And spending time chasing after Jag would give Shanjiâ more time to catch the siblings. The tiger realize that this was one time that he couldn't rush in. This time, he needed a plan.

He scanned around to see Horus and Honey still fighting Raksha and Storm. The bear was using her gauntlets as a shield against Raksha's double blade who tried to push her. Horus was struggling to shoot an arrow at Storm who launching her feather blades. Groaning annoyed, the falcon took cover behind one of the warehouse pillars for protection. The tiger looked back at Venoma. Her coils were wrapped around the pillars as she summoned the scales with her hands and threw them.

Tyge's ears perked at an idea that could get him to bring Lapara somewhere safe. "Horus! I need you to shoot an arrow at Storm to distract her. Honey, you need to use your honeycomb shield. Leave Raksha to me and Lapara. With Storm distracted, Horus jump on the shield for leverage and shoot your arrows at Venoma" he explained the plan to his friends.

Horus shook his head in disagreement. "It won't work. Storm has me pinned down" he argued to him serious. "That's because you take too long to find a perfect aim. This aim you have to shoot it at one go. No hesitation. No thinking" Tyge explained to him firmly.

"Not this again with your reckless thinking" the falcon argued irritated. "Listen to me Horus. Lapara can't hold the shield forever. Jag is hiding in the shadows somewhere and Venoma has us pinned down. So please just trust me on this one" he told him persistent through the communicator.

The falcon got surprised to here the seriousness and urgency in his leader's voice. When Tyge comes up with a plan, his voice always had carelessness and calm. This time, it was different. He glanced at the snow leopard and saw her weaken state. Sighing, the falcon decided for once he will follow his leader's orders.

He readied an arrow and had it pulled on the bow's string. "No hesitation. No thinking" he whispered before taking a deep breath and activating his helmet.

The falcon jumped out of his spot and shot the arrow. No hesitation. No thinking. Just like that. The arrow zoomed straight to his opponent.

"Whoa!" She yelled surprised, caught off guard. She didn't expect him to shoot an arrow with taking his time. The eagle narrowly dodged the arrow as it skimmed on her armor, making some sparks and it impaled a pillar. The eagle hit her back on the wall and she fell to the ground, disoriented.

Honey grabbed Raksha's blade and tossed her aside. "Honeycomb shield baby!" She commanded and a yellow honeycomb shield appeared on her left guantlet.

"Lapara! Once Venoma is distracted, land a blow on Raksha. You'll have to bring your shield down and I take you to her" he explained to her, turning to the snow leopard. "What about Jag?" She asked him concerned. The panther would appear the moment her shield is down.

"Leave him to me. He'll have to get through me if he wants to hurt you" he assured her, lending his hand to her. Lapara was often skeptical of his ideas but this time he seemed onto something. She smiled at him and took his hand.

Horus flew straight down to Honey. The bear had her shield over her and once the falcon landed, she grinned and she pushed her shield up. The falcon took the chance to jump up and he shot several arrows at Venoma.

The cobra ranger saw the ranger from the corner of her eye. She gasped in surprised and quickly dodged them narrowly, slithering from her spot to another to avoid them. She moved her focus on the falcon, unknowingly giving Tyge an opportunity.

"Now!" He told Lapara and she let go of the shield. The pink shield faded and Tyge used his tiger speed and zoomed straight to Raksha while taking Lapara with him. The wolf was about to land a strike at Honey who held her shield. She had no idea that two wild rangers were coming her way.

Roaring, Tyge threw the snow leopard at the white wolf. "Quartz fire!" Lapara summoned a spell and slammed it at her enemy. It sent the wolf flying and she hit the floor, defeated and weaken.

"Raksha!" Jag's voice called out concerned for his teammate and he emerged from the shadows, lunging at Lapara with his claws covered in shadow magic to attack her. But Tyge had saw this coming and smirked.

He had gotten in front of his teammate with his sword out for protection. The claws sliced at the sword, making a clang sound as the two sparred. "Stripes and Claws!" Tyge yelled as his own claws glowed blue and emitted blue energy. He swatted his hand at Jag hard and it sent him flying straight to the wall. The panther hit the wall hard and went out cold. Tyge smirked at him.

He looked at Horus who kept shooting his arrows at Venoma. The villianess kept slithering to avoid them. Tyge flashed a smirk at her. "Fun fact Venoma. Tricking us is one thing..." he told her before climbing up one of the pillars and jumping off it into the air. He and Venoma made eye contact, glaring at eachother.

"But hurting the Jades is one thing!" He yelled angrily before using his speed to zoom straight to the beam she was on and sliced through it. The beam started to go down and the cobra reverted back to her legs, sliding the beam as both fell.

CRASH!

The beam had fallen and the dust cleared to show Venoma had been knocked out. Horus and Tyge landed back on the ground and something that Tyge said about their human friends puzzled him. "Tyge what brought the Jades into this?" He asked him puzzled. The tiger stared at his friend serious yet concerned.

"I know why Shanjiâ's not here. He's at the house, trying to capture Lóng and Zuna!" He told them all.

"WHAT?!" His friends said shocked and alarmed. "So that means that this mission was...a distraction?" Lapara asked stunned. He nodded to her. "It was meant to keep us busy from finding out the Shadow Rangers' true mission" he told them all.

"Gasp! Our babies! We gotta get back to the house!" Honey told them urgently and she opened up two portals to take them home. "Wait. What about the Shadow Rangers? They're defeated. We can bring then to the commander" Horus told them, seeing that they had their victory.

Tyge shook his head. "Forget them. If we don't hurry, Lóng and Zuna will be gone if we delay any longer. Our friends first. Then our enemies. Understood?" He explained firmly. True, Tyge was missing this chance to defeat the bad guys. But his friends' wellbeing was more important to him.

Horus stared at him surprised but he actually agreed with him. If they didn't hurry, then they would be too late. "Understood" he told him, nodding in agreement. Tyge smiled at him, glad to see an agreement. Lapara and Honey also smiled to see the two getting along. "Ok. Honey you come with me to the bedroom teleporter. Horus and Lapara. You take the backyard teleporter. Let's hope we're not too late" he told them all as the rangers entered the portals to save their friends. Little did they know what to expect once they arrive.
