{Ch.14~ Honorary Loser}
*i have a Finn Wolfhard AU book, I think it's good and I'm real proud of it. Oh, comment song you think reminds you of Richie and Arri, I'm curious.
We did it, we fucking did it. Seniors. Tell us we can't, bitch. Okay, I'm sorry, I got excited, but hello, Arri here, and it's summer. We are officially done with our junior year. We're practically adults, woah, that's scary.
"Stop being so frickin cute and walk." I said as we began walking to the Quarry.
I laughed as Ben's face turned the shade of Bev's hair. Uh, I don't know how this happened, but if did. It took about a month of Beverly calling me every night to rant about the boy but it happened. I never actually thought it'd happen. So here's what you missed from the Losers Club:
1.) Eddie still loves me, like, a lot. We've all hist accepted it.
2.) Richie and I are obviously together, he's even gotten himself a car. Well, his parents got him a car. It's nice.
3.) Stan has a girlfriend. This chick named Stacy. I told him their names are dumb— Stanley and Stacy— he yelled at me.
4.) I've been doing these college projects— film. Yeah, I've been working on this submission project for like ever. Well, technically Richie has, I've just made it something new.
5.) Mike goes to this summer camp thing every Sunday. It's the closets thing he's gotten to an actual.
6.) Bill runs the school newspaper and I've become his main photographer. Not officially, but it's fun.
"We've had to tolerate you and Richie for like ever." Beverly crossed her eyes at the two of us
Richie came up to me, his arm over my shoulder. "We aren't cute, we're hot." He said sticking his tongue out at his friends.
"Shut up, Richie." Ben said as they walked to the front of the group, leaving us in the back.
"Yeah, shut up, Richie." Stan said jumping into our conversation.
"Hey, Stan, you and Stacy gonna go to that new club downtown?" Eddie asked. He'd been talking about it.
"Yeah, she said she really wants to go, I guess I'll try it." He said, Richie had to say something fun after words.
"See, shes already changing you, the crazy, Jewish Stanley we know hates trying new things. Say hello to the rest of your life, pal." He said clapping Stan in his back. I reached up and punched his ear, pulling him back towards me. He grimaced and winced until I let go.
He pouted angrily at me whilst rubbing his ear. I smiled and grabbed his shoulder to pull him down so I could kiss his ear, he pushed me away slightly at the new feeling, "later." He whispered to me.
Eventually we were here. A place to call home.
This was gonna be the best thing to happen to us Losers in all of 1987. Well, we thought it was, Billy...not so much, you see, Georgie wanted to go to the Quarry with us. Yup little, eleven-year-old Georgie. Bill didn't want him there, maybe it was because we were so much older, but I didn't mind the nostalgia in having him there.
He didn't jump from the kids like his big brother, though. Instead, Bevvy and I walked with him all the way down to the rocks and jumped in that way. I noticed how much of a mother figure I turned into when I was around Georgie, how much of a dad Bill was. Richie was like a 'cool' older brother. Everyone else were the uncles who were fun around the holidays but not any other time.
"You doing good in school, Georgie?" I asked as he looked in the water for something. He kind of acted like I didn't speak to him at all and made a humming sound as if he were thinking.
"Yeah, I did good on my final report card. Mom stuck it on the fridge." He said before ducking under the water to get something. I quirked my eyebrow at him, keeping quiet at the peculiarity of it all.
"That make you feel good, cause you're awful smart?" He was a pretty bright kid. Not every kid was smart, but then again, they are relatively new to the world, they hardly know it yet.
"Yeah, but some kids didn't do so good, I asked if they wanted to come to my house to play my new video game, but they didn't want to." He sighed and faced away from me.
"Oh, well, you've got all summer to do that. Anything else exciting in the world of adolescence?" Too far, Arri.
"Well, there is this one person..." he slowly turned around towards me, "her name is Ashley— Ashley Smit. I've wanted to talk to her, but-" he sighed again.
"Is she nice?" I asked. I feel as though he needed to know that kindness is important.
He smiled goofily— a smile that matched Richie's exactly. Oh my god.
"She's real nice, she has long brown hair and brown eyes. She smells like flowers cause she used lavender lotion." I'll be damned, little Georgie Denbrough has a crush.
"Do you think she's pretty?" I asked. He nodded vigorously. I nodded my head towards the rocks, so that's where we sat now, this was a serious talk.
"So, this Ashley girl," I looked at him as I began to throw some dead twigs and leaves in the makeshift fire pit Mike made, "Have you ever told her she's pretty?"
He made a face and then scratched the crown of his head, "yeah, but then I sat with my friends during lunch and couldn't say anything else, I got scared."
"Well, take it from me, she'll come around, believe me." I said as I watched Richie jump on top of Eddie, making Eddie freak out and come up sputtering.
"When did you?" He asked, snapping me out of my trance, he suddenly turned shy. I played with the hem of the oversized shirt I wore.
"When did I what?" Of course I knew what he was talking about. I just wanted to hear him clarify it.
"When did you come around to Richie?" He questioned sheepishly. He was cute, the same Georgie Denbrough. One day he won't be, he'll grow up. Oh god.
I shrugged, "I dunno, it just kind of happened. It was great honestly, I still feel the same about him as when we first got together." I was not gonna tell this eleven-year-old that I kissed my boyfriend in the eighth grade and he's been drooling over me ever since.
We talked like that for awhile and soon Beverly cane out the water. Then Ben, and Stanley, Mike after him, Richie and Eddie, Bill quickly after them. We all talked for awhile, it grew darker, colder, except we were all so warm, maybe it was just us, maybe it was the fire. We were all great.
"Georgie was asking about you." I whispered as I leaned more into my boyfriend. He looked down at me strangely, pushing up my glasses, I did the same to him.
"What about me, he needs some Space Invaders tips, I got tons of em'?" I laughed at him, he honestly does.
"No, more about us than you, he's having lady troubles." I said, he sighed and groaned slightly.
"I'm still ya omg lady troubles." I hit his shoulder harshly, "kidding, baby. I love you."
"I love you, too." I looked at the boy who was roasting a hotdog with the assistance from Ben to guide him. "Talk to him, alright, like don't make it obvious in case he gets embarrassed, but could you?"
He nodded and gave my shoulders a squeeze, "it'll be weird thinking this is our last everything," he started, "last set of final exams, last prom, homecoming.." Where was he getting at?
"Yeah, we've had fun at those, great memories. Ya know?" Eddie reminisced.
"You'll have so much fun at them, Georgie, really." Beverly said to the much younger boy. He smiled at the girl whose hair reached her ears, it suites her.
"Yeah, your first one isn't too far away, our eighth grade dance was insane." Stan said, wow, maybe he did enjoy his friends. Who knew?
"Yeah, we all even went to the movies afterwards, you'll have a lot of fun." Mike reassured the boy.
"Richie actually didn't look so ridiculous, Arri made him look waaaay better." Ben said, we laughed at him as Richie stuck his tongue out.
"I thought we looked dapper, absolutely smashing, yeah?" He said in. Bristiah accent. I never noticed it, but it sounded kind of....great.
"We did, Richie thought I was sooo pretty, he could hardly speak." I told Georgie. I felt as though I was telling the story of 'how did you and dad meet' to my child.
"Yeah, I actually liked you for a long time before we actually got together," he said scratching his inner ankle for a sec, "like the moment you walked into English class that year."
"H-he said, and I q-qu-quote, 'who is tha-at, she's hot'?" Bill recited.
"Yeah," I laughed, "it didn't take me long to like you; a month to like you, but I was scared and waited a few more months." I said, he rolled his eyes lovingly at me.
"Yeah, it was an eternity, but then you kissed me on your walk way and I knew it was for real." He said quietly smiling at me. We were smiling idiots, I looked over at the small boy to see he was smiling as well.
"Okay, but I didn't dance with other people at that dance, like Bevvy-"
"Don't try that, girl, you already know we're wives." She said.
"-and Eddie, that was fun, he was so scared I swear it's like he was-" wow, it's like he was in love with me, that's when Eddie fell in love with me...
I looked at him for a second, as did Rich, they knew I knew something. I cleared my thought and looked at Georgie, "as far as in concerned, little Denbrough, you're an honorary Loser." Not something a young boy would want to be deemed as, but this is Georgie.
"Thanks, Arri." He said smiling, I grinned at him.
"Yeah, welcome to the Losers Club."
