MORE EARLY INSTAGRAM GRAPHICS

NOTE: You can see all my collage artwork and other graphic designs on Instagram at https://www.instagram.com/seradrakethebookwyrm/

This one is an illustration of "ancilla's" riches-to-rags situation. For her past, I showed the mansion in Cincinnati that she grew up in, along with some things that seemed to illustrate her sheltered childhood: a gold cross necklace, pearls, a unicorn, a collectible Steiff bear, and a stack of books she would have had in her room. For her present, I showed the outside of what could have been the apartment building that some friends of mine lived in back in the early 90's when they were living in a rather rough section of south Akron - it wasn't the worst neighborhood a person could live in, then, but it certainly wasn't a safe neighborhood, either, and despite being a close walk to the university, students avoided it except when they walked to the plasma donation center to sell their plasma.

Of course, to make a matched set, I also needed to create an image for "Magister's" apartment on the west side.

The next images are more book plugs. I'm hoping the art I post on Instagram will attract readers.

A character collage for my protagonist:

These are the text tiles that I decided were safe to put in a PG-13-rated art book. I have some other tiles with book excerpts, but they're explicit. They don't need to be in a safe-for-work, safe-for-mixed-company portfolio.

My protagonist getting disowned:

My protagonist meeting the girlfriend who eventually got her disowned:

This is the kind of neighborhood my protagonist now lives in:

Meet cute...

Just a collage of words and images.

Why the cover of my novel is plain black silk:

This one's an extremely random collage that I made while free-associating.

I like to call this "The King and Queen In Yellow" (anyone who has read The King In Yellow will get the reference). these are some non-cursed AI character generations.

I found that the easiest way to get character images that matched what I carried in my mind was to tell the bot to create a male Joseph Fiennes lookalike and a female Elizabeth Siddal lookalike. "ancilla" does not look much like Elizabeth Siddal, nor does "Magister" look like Joseph Fiennes, but they look like they're supposed to look, more or less. The bot doesn't seem to get that my protagonist is almost 6'3" and stands about an inch taller than her mentor.

The first declaration of love, albeit an indirect one.

A character collage for "Magister."
