Chapter 2

A guilty consciousness would do anything to unravel their wrongdoings. For the torment of guilt doesn't come from whoever they wronged but it comes from within. It's your own judgement that doesn't leave you alone, it's your own blame that sets your life on fire and your own feelings that cage you in misery as your thoughts keep pushing you down, making you more and more worthless and incapable of anything good.

It's is guilt that can destroy you and such everyone who has once made a mistake would be more than delighted for their mistake to come undone, yet after Jimin had brought a solution to her mistake Jiya didn't appear as relieved as you were expecting her to be.

Her expression fell visibly as Jimin was still looking at you, awaiting your agreement to his idea but from the corner of your eye, all you could think about was her reaction. The way she lowered her eyes as seconds ticked away and her hand travelled to her neck, while she murmured something none of you quite caught.

"I will give it a try, I will text him right away and ask to meet him." You replied and Jimin gifted you a smile, satisfied that you had agreed with him, despite the fact that he knew that you would have wanted to use this occasion to lure them in as you had mentioned prior, and he sure had thought of the idea as appealing however he no longer wanted to trouble Jiya with anything further for the fact that she was involved, to begin with, was partially his fault, or so he felt a sense of responsibility of this issue.

Besides, he was not empty-handed anymore as he had DongMin that he could use to lure those people in for he had already agreed to work with them and they weren't aware that Jimin didn't know about it. He could come up with something later on and get a bit closer to discovering who was after him, so for now he just wanted to have Jiya secured and out of trouble so Jin would be calm too.

"Please send them the email now. " Jimin instructed her and she hesitantly took her phone out of her bag and proceeded to send the file while Jin that was next to her took note of the email address, intending to look it up later.

"It's sent" She announced, with a tone of voice that came off as very sad, making Jin place a hand on her shoulder, reassuring her that everything was going to be solved perfectly fine. Words of comfort that were meant to calm her nerves, yet as you looked at her, smiling and telling him that she is glad about that, all you could notice was how her hands went behind her ear, tagging a loose strand of hair that wasn't even there.

It was a simple action that anyone would do and it most likely could be just a habit, however, a gut feeling inside you wasn't leaving you to let that body language pass by as something random. She was definitely hiding something, even if all she had said was true you couldn't help but believe that there was something more she wasn't sharing. However, you couldn't utter that suspicion for there was no base for it whatsoever but just your guts. Guts that rarely had proved to be wrong.

"Someone should inform Dongmin about the storm he is about to get in. Hyung please take care of that for me. And Y/N keep me updated about how it goes with Jeon. You all may go now, I don't have much time to rest." Jimin gave instructions as he watched over the clock showing the early hour of the morning that was bringing him to a handful of days that he was doubting if he could see the end of it, without collapsing or being taken over simply because he was aware that his condition was weak and especially after everything that had happened today he was mentally crumbled. And exactly because the possibility was high, he needed to do his best to prevent it.

"Okay, don't forget to take your medicine." You reminded him as you stood up from your seat, not questioning him on anything further and Jin did the same, along with his girlfriend to whom he suggested stay over at his house for a bit.

Jimin saw you off with a smile, looking quite nonchalant and unbothered yet as he waved at you by the door, you couldn't help but wonder if he truly was that untroubled with the situation as he looked. Regardless you hoped that he will be okay as you saw him close the door and disappear from your sight.

His smile fell once he had brought himself back to that secluded space and he turned around and walked back to his living room, with a mind full of thoughts for there was something he hadn't uttered even though he had come to realize it as Jiya was speaking. Something that he was aware that if he was to point out, it would most likely bring her words to ruins and with that most likely her relationship with his cousin too.

Why did she lie...Her father had moved with her brother two months ago...

He thought as he recalled that day that he had met with her for an appointment and when he had entered her office she was speaking with her brother, informing him about how her father was supposed to take his medicine. And after the call, he even remembered asking her for how long will he stay and she had told him that it would be permanently for her father was in no condition to be living alone anymore. It was so clear in his memory that even if he wanted to lie to himself and claim that he may be mistaken, he knew far too well that he wasn't.

"Maybe they had something else on her that she couldn't share...but what could it be?" He mumbled to himself however he was aware that the only way to get an answer was to confront her alone. And possibly even better if Jin was to not know about it.

Jimin surely wasn't someone that likes keeping secrets from Jin nor was someone who would hesitate to throw out people that could potentially be bad for him just like Jin had done many times for him in the past but in Jiya's case, he couldn't condemn her without a solid reason for they had been a relationship for so long and Jin was really serious about her. He himself thought of her as a friend to a point so definitely he couldn't rush to an opinion and cross her off even though she had done a move against his benefit.

"Agh, just who is this bastard that's after me? It's seriously starting to frustrate me how incompetent they are!" His voice boomed around the room as he stood up, clearly annoyed that whoever was trying to harm him was involving people that weren't even capable of coming up with a good idea to bring him damage.

First, they had paid someone to scare him by shooting at him and then that same person had barged into his house to further terrorize him with not much luck, then they had tried to get him in trouble with ladies and even managed to fire him from his role. Attempts that he found sloppy...to the point that he couldn't help but start wondering if their real motive was really to get him destroyed.

His feet halted instantly as that thought crossed his mind, finding the possibility of that being high. Maybe their real intention was not to really end his career for it was there was no way they wouldn't have found more effective ways to harm him. Maybe their sloppiness was on purpose because whoever that person was, was holding back.

"Why would anyone hold back?...an enemy would never hold back...then...it's someone whose heart is in a dilemma, someone who wants me to end my career but that also can't find the heart to cut it off for me...they sound like someone who cares...yet why would someone who cares want to destroy what I went so much through to achieve." His trail of thoughts escaped his lips unconsciously right before his phone vibrated in his pocket and he took it off, only to witness that he had got a notification from Jin.

His name appearing before him at that very moment, had him freeze instantly as the seed of doubt slid in his mind and started travelling through his veins, making his fingers go numb enough for the device to slip from his fingers despite that all that his text was telling him was to take proper rest and not overthink about anything.

Caring words that hadn't even registered in his mind as his thoughts had entered into chaos of puzzle pieces that were coming together. This building was so secure and no one could come through as easily as that Ray guy had done when he had barged with a gun into his apartment. No one could have entered so easily unless someone from the building had brought him inside along. And most people don't even know which door is his or on which floor he stays, yet that guy knew very well.

When Jimin had called Jin to come to collect those ladies at the set, he had also come very quickly...as if he was on stand by waiting for it. And tonight...he was looking so frustrated and disappointed, even mad before his girlfriend arrived, yet he sure seemed like he let her off way easier than he had assumed at the start.

"No, no what am I thinking. Jin would never do this to me." He slapped himself lightly denying any doubt that had scratched his mind then he picked up his phone and proceeded to reach his bedroom.

But Jiya wouldn't lie for anyone else but him...how could he not have known that her father had already left,  when he is her boyfriend.......was this all...just an act?

His thoughts kept bugging him as he now found himself alone in his room, however, those suspicions had made his free palm unconsciously reach above his shirt and clench on his shirt in desperation for the ache was stinking so bitterly within him.

"It's not like that...IT'S NOT LIKE THAT! HE WOULD NEVER BETRAY ME!" Jimin yelled as his face morphed in anguish and pain, colour vanishing from his cheeks as if someone had just drained the life out of him.

I can't be suspicious of you...no, no...there must be some other explanation...there must be some other reason she lied...something else that she is hiding...

He tried to convince himself as he slowly started taking steps toward his bed, with a hazy sight and a phone that he lightly threw on it, in an attempt to get it away from him, the way that he wanted to take away the pain that the doubt -that Jin could be against him- had caused him at the thought and only.

"Not you, it can't be you...you are the only one I trust still with all I have...Please, never prove me wrong." His plee echoed faintly in the atmosphere in a whimpering tone that had not reached anyone's ears but his own, right before he left his body plop on his bed and hid his face among his sheets, along with those poisonous thoughts that he started doubting if they were truly his own.

It's you, isn't it?  These feelings...these thoughts...You are still here...awake...aren't you?.... P2.
