Unexpected Drama

Pandemonium erupted in the hallways. Teachers came and tried to calm everyone down, but people were too scared. A bunch of kids made a beeline for the exit, while others were screaming at the top of their lungs about getting murdered. Xander suddenly grabbed my arm and pulled me towards the girl who'd announced the murder.

"Hey." He said to her, ignoring my frantic attempts to escape his hold. "Where did you see the body?"

"I-In the music c-classroom." The girl answered, shaking nervously. Xander nodded and began dragging me away. "Wait! Xander! Stop!" I protested, trying to slow him down. "What are you doing?!"

"Well, considering that you're the main character in a shitty fanfiction, it's pretty obvious that the police are going to be incompetent and we're the ones who will have to solve the murder." He explained in his usual sarcastic voice. I marveled at the fact that he stayed calm even though someone had just been killed. "I'm just trying to speed up the process because I'm hungry and could really go for a sandwich soon."

"Wait, I'm not good at solving mysteries." I argued, unsuccessfully trying to tug my arm free from his iron grip. "Where did this whole other plot even come from, anyway? I thought this story was gonna be about Eteled."

"Who the hell is Eteled?" Xander wanted to know.

"Uh... you'll find out later, I guess."

We reached the music classroom, and I gasped at the sight. "Gasp!" Then I wondered when the author would realize this joke was getting overused and that he should try writing something actually funny for once.

"Did you just say 'gasp' out loud?" Xander asked, confused. Then he shook his head. "Whatever. Looks like the victim was killed in the most generic and boring way possible: a knife to the chest."

"Don't you recognize who this is?" I said, appalled. "This... This is Faith!" I revealed dramatically. I was about to cry, then stopped myself in horror because I was becoming a stupid main character. Instead, I cringed at how cliché her death was. Would it be too much for a murderer to at least be creative?

"Who?" Xander tilted his head.

"Y'know, that girl who only got one line of dialogue in the last chapter?" I told him. "And it was a single word that had absolutely no significance to what was happening?"

My friend thought for a moment, then nodded slowly. "Ohhh, right. That one. Well, at least now we know who to interrogate first. Elly and Jane." He added, seeing my confused look.

"Shouldn't we search the body first?" I pointed out. "That's what always happens in murder cases, I think."

"I'll do it." Xander declared, walking towards Faith's corpse. "I know you'll probably throw up if you touch a dead body, and we can't ruin any pieces of evidence." I couldn't watch as he started looking around, and I jumped as he let out a noise of triumph. "Aha! Found something!"

"What is it?" I asked curiously as he walked over, clutching what looked to be a piece of paper. "Evidence." He answered simply.

I took the piece of paper. There were words scrawled on it. I stifled another gasp.

I AM THE FORGOTTEN ONE.

Immediately, my mind began racing as I mentally listed ideas on who that could be. Will? No, it couldn't be Will, he got an entire scene all to himself last chapter. Elly? Jane? But they made an appearance just last chapter as well!

Then my mind landed on someone. Two someones, in fact. I looked up at Xander, and I could tell that he was thinking the same thing.

I felt my throat begin to close up as I finally found my voice. "Generic Name 1 and Generic Name 2."
