Lindsey has been working on this little project for a few weeks. Since the news of Stevie's pregnancy, it lights a fire within him. Of course, he wants to be with her for the rest of his life but hearing her say they were going to have a precious baby makes him want to make it official. He bought a pretty but inexpensive ring. It was all he could afford and she was never one to ask for lavish or expensive things. It was truly the thought behind it that mattered to her most. He comes home from work briefly to change his clothes and meet his old boss, who he had completed his apprenticeship with, for an important meeting. He is nervous, not knowing what he could possibly have to say. He wanders through the home, needing to change his clothes. He passes through to the bedroom of their tiny apartment and there sits his girlfriend, looking so adorable in a new maternity dress. She isn't showing much but she is too excited to wait any longer. She stands up in front of the mirror, smoothing her tiny bump.

"Hey, baby" he says, going over to kiss her and give the belly a rub.

"You're home!" She squeals.

"I am, but only for a few minutes. I have to meet Mr. Hadley." He digs through his messy closet to find a nicer shirt and pants.

"Oh" she says, visibly deflating.

"I will be back soon, I promise"

"I miss you" she says.

"I miss you too." He says, kissing her again. "You and this baby are the beat of my heart"

"You told me"

"I didn't just tell you. I mean it, Stephanie"

"I know"

"I will see you tonight"

"Okay, see you" she says, waving as he breezes out of the room. She hears the door slam behind him as he leaves the apartment and she sits on the bed again. "I don't know what to do." She places a hand on her belly, at a crossroads. "He's so busy and we barely get any time together but I know I couldn't possibly do this without him now that I know there are two of you in there" She lets the tears fall, knowing it's not healthy to hold it in. Once she's gotten a grip on herself she takes off her new dress and puts on her pajamas in an attempt to nap before her boyfriend comes home.

Lindsey steps quietly into the apartment, beaming. All the lights are off and he knows she's most likely asleep. His plans are just about ruined as he realizes the time.

"Shit" he says to himself. He goes to the bedroom and she sits up, turning on the blue lamp she had gotten from her mother when she had moved out for the first time on her own. "I'm sorry, Stevie"

"What time is it?" She asks, rubbing her eyes.

"After one. I didn't mean for it to go this long."

"It's okay, I know you're busy"

"Baby, I was dying to get back here to you. I have amazing news. A couple things actually"

"Me too" she says, finally able to focus on him.

"You first" he says.

"No, you"

"Okay" Here it goes. "Mr. Hadley offered me a job. We're not going to be poor anymore, angel! I'm going to be a real architect. I'll get to draw up plans and work on deals and contracts as his right hand man"

"That's amazing, Lindsey!" She says, throwing her arms around his neck. "Did you say you had two pieces of you news?"

"I did, um..." He gets up briefly and grabs his guitar. He picks at the strings, tuning it slightly. He takes a deep breath and looks deep into her eyes. She's transfixed, looking at the man she loves as he sings the words softly.

"That's beautiful, Lindsey but I don't think I understand" she says and he chuckles, pulling something out of his jacket pocket and holds it in his hand.

"I've been thinking about this for so long, probably since the moment I saw you. With a baby coming, I want to do this right. Stephanie Lynn Nicks, will you do me the honor of being my wife?" He asks, revealing a little velvet box and the prettiest little ring she could ever imagine.

"Yes" she says, tears falling down her cheeks. "Yes, I'll marry you. Please put it on my finger"

"Oh my god, this is all I've ever wanted" he says, sliding the ring on and letting her admire it. "We can be a family" He kisses her, stroking her long beautiful hair.

"We were already a family" she says as they pull apart. "All four of us" She bites her lip, waiting for it to sink in.

"All four of us?"

"Yes, Linds"

"But...how?"

"One, two" she counts, pointing to each of them. "Three, four" She places his hand over her small bump and it finally clicks.

"Twins?" He asks.

"We're having two beautiful babies"

"This is the best night of my life" he says, kissing her again.

"Would you like to celebrate, stud?"

"Mmmm....more than ever" He pulls off his jacket, tossing it aside, moves his guitar onto the floor and and climbs back onto the bed with her. Knowing she would scold him, he took his shoes off before continuing and she smiles up at him.

"The babies are safe, don't be too gentle with me"

"I wasn't planning on it, honey. I've wanted you so bad all day"

"I've wanted you too" she says, leaning up to capture his lips ever so softly. He straddles her, pulling her slip over her head. "I love you"

"I love you too, angel." His hands slide down to remove her underwear but he doesn't find any. The look of realization on his face delights his fiancée. "God, I love you so much"

"Show me, baby" she says.

They make love until the sun rises, laying in the comfortable silence until they both fall asleep in each other's arms. They end up sleeping all day, catching up on as much as they possibly can, knowing there will be many a sleepless night in their future.
